The sexiest actress of the '70's and beyond, Valerie Perrine won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress and was Oscar-nominated for her role as Honey Bruce in "Lenny" opposite Dustin Hoffman, played Miss Tessmacher in "Superman," and appeared in a number of my favorite films of all time, including "Slaughterhouse-Five."
I met her at the Aero Theater tribute recently and she's still just as wonderful as ever.

VALERIE PERRINE [Oscar and Golden Globe nominee, Cannes Film Festival and New York Film Critics Award winner for Lenny] performs the spectacular Nothing But a Bubble [aka Castles in the Air] as the artistically challenged Lillian Lorraine, who became a Ziegfeld star despite her lack of talent. After a night of passion, Lillian asks Ziegfeld to put her in his next show: But my dear, he asks, what would I do with you? You can neither sing, dance nor act? Thats easy, honey, Lillian replies, make me a star!=E 2 Which is exactly what he does, declaring: If the girl cant carry the show, then the show will have to carry the girl! The most elaborate musical number in the telemovie, shot on the largest soundstage on the studio lot, centered around a 60-foot staircase, topped by a 10-foot fountain which was spouting bubbles made by four machines, while 10,000 balloons were floating in the air. There were also four six-foot swans made out of cotton batting, all created by Oscar Winning Production Designer John DeCuir [The King and I, Cleopatra, Hello,Dolly!]. Before moving to Hollywood and becoming an actress [Slaughterhouse-Five, The Last American Hero, The Couple Takes a Wife and the controversial Hollywood Television Theatre production of Steambath, in which she appeared nude], Valerie Perrine began her professional career as a showgirl in Las Vegas at the Desert Inn and later moved to the Lido de Paris revue at the Stardust Hotel as one of the three lead dancers, so she was familiar with floating down a gigantic stairway in ostrich feathers, rhinestones and tall headgear.
The multi-million dollar three-hour move, which had its US television premiere on May 21, 1978, as part of NBC TVs Sunday night Big Event series, is the longest musical ever filmed for television. [The original 150-minute version was later seen on Showtime, and an edited 100-minute version, retaining most of the musical sequences, has been aired more recently on The Encore Channel]. Headlining as Florenz Ziegfeld was Paul Shenar who began his career on Broadway [Tartuffe, Six Characters In Search of An Author, and Variety Critics-nominee for Tiny Alice and The Three Sisters ], a founding member, actor, director and teacher with William Balls famed American Conservatory Theatre for more than 10 years, who had gained acclaim as Orson Welles, in the TV movie The Night That Panicked America. Valerie Perrine
Valerie Ritchie Perrine (born September 3, 1943) is an American actress and model.
Life and career
Perrine was born in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of Winifred "Renee" (née McGinley), a dancer who appeared in Earl Carroll's Vanities, and Kenneth Perrine, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. Owing to her father's career, Perrine lived in many locations as the family moved to different posts.
She began her career as a Las Vegas showgirl. Some believe she made her film debut with an uncredited part in Diamonds Are Forever (1971), but this is not true. She played soft-core pornography actress Montana Wildhack in Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five (1972). Perrine was photographed for a pictorial layout in the May 1972 issue of Playboy, later appearing on the cover in August 1981. She then became the first actress to purposely display herself nude on American television by completely baring her breasts during the May 4, 1973, PBS broadcast of Bruce Jay Friedman's Steambath on Hollywood Television Theater. (She was seen taking a shower from the side totally undressed.) Only a few PBS stations nationwide were adventurous enough to carry the program. Later in 1973, she appeared in the episode "When the Girls Came Out to Play" of the romantic anthology television series Love Story (1973).

Anthony Falcon is a billionaire. After he dies, he leaves his entire estate to his Italian nephew, Guido Falcone, a mechanic who wishes to be a cowboy. To get his inheritance, he has to go to California and within a specified time or the estate will fall under the control of the executor, John Cutler, who wishes that to happen. And it might just happen, cause Guido doesn't like to fly, so by the time he gets to America, he will just have enough time to get there. But running into some undesirable individuals, he loses all of his money and has to find a way to get there. Cutler has also sent Rosie Jones to try to get Guido to sign a paper, wherein he relinquishes all claims to the estate but she instead falls for him.
