"Scarborough Fair" was a traditional English fair, and is a traditional English ballad.
During the late Middle Ages the seaside town of Scarborough was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. It was host to a huge 45-day trading event, starting August 15, which was exceptionally long for a fair in those times. Merchants came to it from all areas of England, Norway, Denmark, the Baltic states and the Byzantine Empire. Scarborough Fair originated from a charter granted by King Henry III of England on 22 January 1253.
The charter, which gave Scarborough many privileges, stated "The Burgesses and their heirs forever may have a yearly fayre in the Borough, to continue from the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary until the Feast of St Michael next following". (On the modern Roman Catholic calendar, the equivalent dates are August 15 to September 29.) Naturally, such a large occasion attracted a lot more than just tradesmen; they needed to be entertained and fed, therefore large crowds of buyers, sellers and pleasure-seekers attended the fair. Prices were determined by Supply and demand, with goods often being exchanged through the barter system. Records show that from 1383 Scarboroughs prosperity slumped.
In the early 17th century competition from other towns' markets and fairs and increasing taxation saw further collapse of the Fair until it eventually became financially untenable. The market was revived again in the 18th century, but due to intense competition Scarborough Fair finally ended in 1788.
The traditional "Scarborough Fair" no longer exists but a number of low-key celebrations take place every September to mark the original event. Scarborough Fair in July 2006 witnessed Medieval Jousting Competitions, hosted by English Heritage in addition to the usual attractions.

Edward James Olmos
Edward James Olmos (born Edward Olmos; February 24, 1947) is an American actor and director. Among his most memorable roles are William Adama in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, Lieutenant Martin "Marty" Castillo in Miami Vice, teacher Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver, patriarch Abraham Quintanilla, Jr. in the film Selena, Detective Gaff in Blade Runner, and narrator El Pachuco in both the stage and film versions of Zoot Suit. In 1988, Olmos was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film Stand and Deliver.
He has also been a longtime pioneer for more diversified roles and images of Hispanics in the U.S. media. His notable direction, production and starring roles for films, made-for-TV movies and TV shows include Wolfen, Triumph of the Spirit, Talent for the Game, American Me, The Burning Season, My Family/Mi Familia, Caught, 12 Angry Men, The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca, Walkout, The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, American Family, and 2 Guns.

Edward James
Edward William Frank James (1907–1984) was a British poet known for his patronage of the surrealist art movement.
Early life and marriage
Edward James was born on 16 August 1907, the only son of William James who, at twenty five years of age (1879), had inherited a fortune from his father, Liverpool-based American merchant Daniel James (Daniel James's will, CODICIL 13th day of April 1876) and had married Evelyn Forbes, a Scots socialite, who was reputedly fathered by the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). In his anecdotal reminiscences recorded in "Swans Reflecting Elephants – My Early Years", Edward James also puts forward this hypothesis. However, there was also popular belief that Evelyn may have been one of the Prince of Wales's mistresses and there was a "much quoted" ballad by Hilaire Belloc at the time that intimated this.
Edward James had four older sisters: Audrey, Millicent, Xandra, and Silvia. He was educated at Lockers Park School, then briefly at Eton, then at Le Rosey in Switzerland, and finally at Christ Church, Oxford, where he was a contemporary of Evelyn Waugh and Harold Acton. When his father died in 1912 he inherited the 8,000-acre (32 km2) West Dean House estate in Sussex, held in trust until he came of age. He was also left a large sum in trust when his uncle John Arthur James died in 1917.

Celia Pavey
Celia Pavey (born 23 January 1994) is a Sydney-based singer-songwriter signed with Mercury Records Australia, which is part of Universal Music Australia. Her folk-inspired album This Music peaked at number 14 on the Australian Aria Charts in July 2013. Pavey sings, plays the guitar and the violin. She placed third in season 2 of The Voice in Australia.

During television phenomenon The Voice Australia's 2013 cycle, Celia Pavey took her guitar to the blind auditions and wowed the judges and audience. Her first audition clip of Simon & Garfunkel's 'Scarborough Fair / Canticle' has amassed over 6 million views online. She released her debut studio album This Music in July 2013, which peaked at number 14 in Australia.
In 2013, Pavey was nominated for Cosmopolitan Magazine's Fun Fearless Female Awards.
Celia Pavey released her debut EP 'Bodies' on 29 August 2014. Produced by Eric J. Dubowsky (Chet Faker, Flume), 'Bodies' features writing collaborations with Tim Hart of Boy & Bear ('Shadow') and Bluejuice's Jake Stone ('Bodies'). Pavey headed on an East Coast tour of Australia in support of the EP.

"Scarborough Fair" was a traditional English fair, and is a traditional English ballad. During the late Middle Ages the seaside town of Scarborough was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. It was host to a huge 45-day trading event, starting August 15, which was exceptionally long for a fair in those times. Merchants came to it from all areas of England, Norway, Denmark, the Baltic states and the Byzantine Empire. Scarborough Fair originated from a charter granted by King Henry III of England on 22 January 1253. The charter, which gave Scarborough many privileges, stated "The Burgesses and their heirs forever may have a yearly fayre in the Borough, to continue from the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary until the Feast of St Michael next following"...

In the early 17th century competition from other towns' markets and fairs and increasing taxation saw further collapse of the Fair until it eventually became financially untenable. The market was revived again in the 18th century, but due to intense competition Scarborough Fair finally ended in 1788.
The traditional "Scarborough Fair" no longer exists but a number of low-key celebrations take place every September to mark the original event. Scarborough Fair in July 2006 witnessed Medieval Jousting Competitions, hosted by English Heritage in addition to the usual attractions.

Scarborough Fair (Instrumental)
"Scarborough Fair" was a traditional English fair, and is a traditional English ballad. During the late Middle Ages the seaside town of Scarborough was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. It was host to a huge 45-day trading event, starting August 15, which was exceptionally long for a fair in those times. Merchants came to it from all areas of England, Norway, Denmark, the Baltic states and the Byzantine Empire. Scarborough Fair originated from a charter granted by King Henry III of England on 22 January 1253. The charter, which gave Scarborough many privileges, stated "The Burgesses and their heirs forever may have a yearly fayre in the Borough, to continue from the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary until the Feast of St Michael next following"...

Prices were determined by Supply and demand, with goods often being exchanged through the barter system. Records show that from 1383 Scarboroughs prosperity slumped.
In the early 17th century competition from other towns' markets and fairs and increasing taxation saw further collapse of the Fair until it eventually became financially untenable. The market was revived again in the 18th century, but due to intense competition Scarborough Fair finally ended in 1788.

Bernardo also raped 20 other women, known as the "Scarborough rapist" attacks, after the area of Toronto where he preyed on women.

After his convictions, Toronto Police interviewed Bernardo at Kingston penitentiary in 2007 as part of their investigations into other crimes that occurred at the time Bernardo was raping and killing. The government fought to suppress the video but Ontario Superior Court Justice David McCombs ruled the full 31-minute interview was of value to the public. "The Internet is now an established extension of responsible media outlets' reporting," the judge ruled.
It is the first time most people get to see and hear from the notorious killer directly. Although his trial was dominated by horrific videos he and Homolka made of their victims, the audio and video of those was never made public.
During the interview Bernardo says he has overcome his sexual insecurity that was his trigger for rape and he would be a good candidate for parole in a few years. Fat chance.
"My thing was not to hurt these girls at all, I just wanted the sex. You know when you're a sex predator ... that's what you do, right, 'cause that's your life. I mean it's your vice and me I had a performance anxiety.... You know you have power, control, over younger victims ...
"Are you a psychopath your entire life," he asked, "or are you a psychopath at that moment and time when you're egocentric about your sex?"
He said rapists are depicted in movies as "the guy with the big thick Coke-bottle glasses," but said "It's not what you look like, it's ... what's in you."

It is the first time most people get to see and hear from the notorious killer directly. Although his trial was dominated by horrific videos he and Homolka made of their victims, the audio and video of those was never made public.
During the interview Bernardo says he has overcome his sexual insecurity that was his trigger for rape and he would be a good candidate for parole in a few years. Fat chance.
"My thing was not to hurt these girls at all, I just wanted the sex. You know when you're a sex predator ... that's what you do, right, 'cause that's your life. I mean it's your vice and me I had a performance anxiety.... You know you have power, control, over younger victims ...
"Are you a psychopath your entire life," he asked, "or are you a psychopath at that moment and time when you're egocentric about your sex?"
He said rapists are depicted in movies as "the guy with the big thick Coke-bottle glasses," but said "It's not what you look like, it's ... what's in you."

He has summoned us to enter with courage “into the Areopagus of contemporary cultures”, to dialogue with science, with non-believers, with other religious traditions and with other Christian communities. Why, how, and where do such ecumenical, inter-faith and cultural conversations take place? Why does faithfulness to the Gospel now summon us to be a Church in dialogue?
Bishop Bolen of the Diocese of Saskatoon, is currently co-chair of the International Anglican-Roman Catholic Commission for Unity and Mission (IARCCUM), co-chair of the International Methodist-Catholic Dialogue, a member of the International Evangelical-Catholic Dialogue, and a member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. In Canada, he co-chairs the Anglican-Roman Catholic dialogue. In 2008 he was awarded the Cross of Saint Augustine by the Archbishop of Canterbury for his service to relations between the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. Bishop Bolen is an Associate of the Madonna House Apostolate.

As we enter a season of DOS games, we find ourselves with Rise of the Triad. One of my favourite MS-DOS games, developed and distributed by Apogee in 1994 as a shareware release known as "Rise of the Triad: The Hunt Begins", swiftly followed by the retail edition "Rise of the Triad: Dark War" distributed through Apogee's shareware model and by FormGen. In this episode we look at the origins of the game, how it began as Wolfenstein 3D Part 2; a Wolfenstein 3D sequel and changed into something much bigger. We look at the team involved, the stories behind the development and what happened after the game launched. We also take a thorough look at the game itself. The quirks. The "remote ridicules", the gibs, the endless blood soaked gibs, the crazy weapons such as the "Drunk Missle" and the crazy levels and quirks that made Rise of the Triad such an amazing DOS game in the mid 90s.

Wendy describes her journey from modeling, through a devastating accident and her emergence as a quadriplegic, to founding a website: mobilewomen.org of resources for women in wheelchairs.

Driving to the airport for her first international contract, 19-year-old fashion model Wendy Crawford was struck by a drunk driver and, as a result, became a quadriplegic. Following her accident, the Attorney General’s Office of Ontario (Canada) hired Ms. Crawford for several years as spokesperson to warn others about the perils of drinking and driving. During this period, Wendy was given the “Ontario Crime Prevention Award” twice by the Solicitor General of Ontario and honored as “Citizen of the Year” in her hometown.
Growing into womanhood with a disability, Ms. Crawford identified a need and utilized her fashion and public-speaking experience to develop unique means of raising awareness of and becoming an advocate for women with physical challenges. In 2002, Wendy founded mobileWOMEN.org, an online magazine for women in wheelchairs, to provide information and a community for women to share and learn from one another.
In 2006, Wendy was a committee member and participated in Uncensored Life: Raw Beauty, an innovative visual arts project designed to inspire the public to create new perceptions, transform stereotypes and break through personal obstacles by expanding awareness of women with physical challenges. Wendy is the chairperson of Raw Beauty NYC and is presently working with a dynamic committee to bring this powerful photography exhibit to New York with new models and prominent photographers. This exhibit will commemorate the merger of mobileWOMEN.org with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, providing more access, education and outreach to women with disabilities, one of the most underserved populations in the disabled community.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What is beauty? How do we decide who is beautiful? Wendy describes her journey from modeling, through a devastating accident and her emergence as a quadriplegic, to founding a website: mobilewomen.org of resources for women in wheelchairs.

Driving to the airport for her first international contract, 19-year-old fashion model Wendy Crawford was struck by a drunk driver and, as a result, became a quadriplegic. Following her accident, the Attorney General’s Office of Ontario (Canada) hired Ms. Crawford for several years as spokesperson to warn others about the perils of drinking and driving. During this period, Wendy was given the “Ontario Crime Prevention Award” twice by the Solicitor General of Ontario and honored as “Citizen of the Year” in her hometown.
Growing into womanhood with a disability, Ms. Crawford identified a need and utilized her fashion and public-speaking experience to develop unique means of raising awareness of and becoming an advocate for women with physical challenges. In 2002, Wendy founded mobileWOMEN.org, an online magazine for women in wheelchairs, to provide information and a community for women to share and learn from one another.
In 2006, Wendy was a committee member and participated in Uncensored Life: Raw Beauty, an innovative visual arts project designed to inspire the public to create new perceptions, transform stereotypes and break through personal obstacles by expanding awareness of women with physical challenges. Wendy is the chairperson of Raw Beauty NYC and is presently working with a dynamic committee to bring this powerful photography exhibit to New York with new models and prominent photographers. This exhibit will commemorate the merger of mobileWOMEN.org with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, providing more access, education and outreach to women with disabilities, one of the most underserved populations in the disabled community.
