There's a new engine in Paccar's MX lineup. New to North America, but with several years of experience under the big DAF cabs in Europe, the 11-liter MX-11 is the engine Kenworth and Peterbilt vocational and P&D; customers have been waiting for.
Equipment Editor Jim Park got a sneak preview of the MX-11 while at the Eaton Proving Grounds in Marshall Michigan, the one with the dirt track with grades of 20% and worse. Paccar Test Center Open House is held for one day a year in April during the Mt. Vernon Tulip Festival in Washington State. While there's a lot off limits, the facility still shows quite a bit of what's done to test their new truck models to see what needs to be improved.
At the same time of the Open House, local truck groups bring their antique Kenworth and Peterbilt tractors to show off to the public. For the price of free, it really cannot be beat!

PACCAR Inc NASDAQ: PCAR is the third largest manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks in the world (after Daimler AG and Volvo), and has substantial manufacture in light and medium vehicles through its various subsidiaries.[citation needed]
Based in Bellevue, Washington, in the Seattle Metropolitan area. It was founded in 1905 by William Pigott, Sr., as the Seattle Car Manufacturing Company. Its original business was the production of railway and logging equipment. Upon a subsequent merger with a Portland, Oregon, firm, Twohy Brothers, Seattle Car Manufacturing Company became the Pacific Car and Foundry Company. In 1924, the founder, William Pigott sold a controlling interest in the company to American Car and Foundry Company. However, his son, Paul Pigott reacquired a significant interest in the company from American Car and Foundry Company in 1934.
During the Second World War, it was involved in war production, including Sherman tanks for the U.S. Army. Other notable vehicles produced include the M25 Tank Transporter, known as the Dragon Wagon, and the T28 Super Heavy Tank.

At the same time of the Open House, local truck groups bring their antique Kenworth and Peterbilt tractors to show off to the public. For the price of free, it really cannot be beat!
