Vittal is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka.The pincode of vittal is 574243.
As of 2001 India census, Vittal had a population of 15650 with 7882 males and 7768 females. Vittal has already grown in to a town. There is a separate KSRTC bus stand and private bus stand. Vittal is directly connected through bus to Manglore, Puttur, Kasargod, Manjeshwar, Uppala, Hosangady, Salettur, B C Road, Kalladka, Kabaka, Kanyana, Perla, Badiadka, panaje, odiyoor, anekal, mudipu, thokkotu, derlakatte, boluvar and many other small places. It is the biggest town in bantwal district, next to kalladka. The famous institutions of Sri Satya Sai Baba such as SSSLSVK, PU college and Balakuteera are located in Alike, around 7 km from Vittal. There is a KSRTC Rajahamsa bus from Alike to Banglore via Vittal. Central Plantation Corps Research Institute (CPCRI) Regional Station is located in Vittal-Puttur Road around 3 km from Vittal Bus Stand.
Vittal Mallya (1924–1983) was an Indian entrepreneur, best known as the former Chairman of the India-based United Breweries Group. Vittal Mallya was born in Dhaka, now in Bangladesh.
Youngest of the three children of an army doctor Lt. Col. Dr. Bantwal Ganapathi Mallya, Vittal Mallya capped an academic career with two of India's most prestigious educational institutions, The Doon School and Presidency College, Kolkata, and traveled abroad for over two years to gain first-hand practical knowledge that he believed to be a lot more valuable than formal education. In 1947, at the age of 22, Mallya was elected as United Breweries' first Indian director. After a year, he replaced R.G.N.Price as the chairman of the company. Mallya initially operated from Calcutta and married much later after he had become the chairman of United Breweries Limited. He migrated to Bangalore with his wife, Lalitha Ramaiah and son, Vijay in 1958. Despite ill health that followed a massive heart attack at a relatively young age of 59, Mallya slowly and steadily built the UB Empire and diversified into a host of allied businesses.
