QNX (/ˌkjuː ˌɛn ˈɛks/ or /ˈkjuːnɨks/) is a commercial Unix-like real-time operating system, aimed primarily at the embedded systems market. The product was originally developed by Canadian company QNX Software Systems, which was later acquired by Research In Motion.
As a microkernel-based OS, QNX is based on the idea of running most of the OS in the form of a number of small tasks, known as servers. This differs from the more traditional monolithic kernel, in which the operating system is a single very large program composed of a huge number of "parts" with special abilities. In the case of QNX, the use of a microkernel allows users (developers) to turn off any functionality they do not require without having to change the OS itself; instead, those servers are simply not run.
The system is quite small, with earlier versions fitting on a single floppy disk.
QNX Neutrino (2001) has been ported to a number of platforms and now runs on practically any modern CPU that is used in the embedded market. This includes the PowerPC, x86 family, MIPS, SH-4 and the closely related family of ARM, StrongARM and XScale CPUs.

QNX was displaying their recently announced QNX Platform for ADAS at CES 2016 with a demonstration of several very real roadway scenarios. On the floor, engineers from QNX leveraged DSRC antennas to communicate changing GPS coordinates to a stationary Jeep Wrangler and Toyota Highlander, making the vehicles believe that they were traveling on open roadways. They used this formula as a baseline for exhibiting the possibilities of multi-camera vision systems and V2X communications, where the QNX ADAS software was leveraged to control the inputs from onboard cameras, as well as manage notifications from nearby vehicles and/or traffic signals through a remote V2X interface.
Here, Nabil Ould-Brahim, a software developer working on the QNX Automotive Platform, walks Embedded Computing Design's Brandon Lewis through an emergency stop situation, which highlights the software’s vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure capabilities.

The number of people reporting being raped by someone they met on a dating app or website has risen six-fold in five years, official figures show. There were 184 rape allegations in 2014, up from 33 in 2009, the National Crime Agency (NCA) said.
