Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe (born February 6, 1993), known professionally as Tinashe, is an American actress, singer and dancer. She is known as the former lead singer of American girl group the Stunners.
She was born in Lexington, Kentucky and named "Tinashe" Jorgensen, which means "We are with God" in Shona, by her grandfather. She spent her early years in DeKalb, Illinois, as a baby model and attended Littlejohn Elementary School, with her two younger brothers, Thulani and Kudzai, but, at age eight moved to Los Angeles, California where she attended Crescenta Valley High School for a little over a year before finishing early. Her father is Zimbabwean and her mother is a mix of Irish, Norwegian, and Danish.
In 2007, at age 14, Tinashe was approached by former pop-star Vitamin C to join an all-girl singing and dancing group. She quickly joined Allie Gonino, Hayley Kiyoko, Kelsey Sanders (later replaced by Lauren Hudson in 2009) and Marisol Esparza to form the Stunners. Six months after forming, the group signed with Columbia Records and released a single titled "Bubblegum" to iTunes along with the official video for the single and as contributed a song to the iCarly soundtrack. The single and video were later removed from iTunes.
