Reni Lane

Reni Lane (born Reni Jablonsky; January 10, 1988) is a singer-songwriter and alt pop/rock artist hailing from Oregon now living in New York City. Her major label debut, Ready, was released in 2010.

History

Oregon born, alternative pop artist Reni Lane (previously spelled Reni Laine) was featured as a concert and jazz pianist as well as trombonist in the Lafayette High School "Ram" band in Williamsburg, Virginia before moving to New York City when she was 18 to attend Columbia University. She began to perform weekly at The Sidewalk Cafe (where Suzanne Vega and Regina Spektor were discovered), and worked with songwriters such as David Poe and Joseph Arthur. When Reni finished her first album, American Baby, she toured Europe with her band. In 2009 she briefly toured as a member of The Like with the popular indie rock band Arctic Monkeys.MTV featured her in their 'First Ladies of Rock' ad campaign sponsored by Virgin Mobile and this brought her to the attention of songwriter/producer Sam Bisbee. Their work was handed over to super producer Linda Perry who signed her, resulting in her Custard Records/ Motown Universal debut, Ready.

Lane

In the context of traffic control, a lane is part of a carriageway (roadway) that is designated for use by a single line of vehicles, to control and guide drivers and reduce traffic conflicts. Most public roads (highways) have at least two lanes, one for traffic in each direction, separated by lane markings. On multilane roadways and busier two-lane roads, lanes are designated with road surface markings. Major highways often have two multi-lane roadways separated by a median.

Some roads and bridges that carry very low volumes of traffic are less than 15 feet (4.6 m) wide, and are only a single lane wide. Vehicles travelling in opposite directions must slow or stop to pass each other. In rural areas, these are often called country lanes. In urban areas, alleys are often only one lane wide. Urban and suburban one lane roads are often designated for one-way traffic.

Lane capacity varies widely due to conditions such as neighbouring lanes, lane width, elements next to the road, number of driveways, presence of parking, speed limits, number of heavy vehicles and so on - the range can be as low as 1000 passenger cars / hour to as high as 4800 passenger cars /hour but mostly falls between 1500 to 2400 passenger cars / hour.

Don't Forget

Don't Forget is the debut studio album by American singer Demi Lovato. It was released on September 23, 2008 by Hollywood Records. Lovato started working on the album in September 2007, during the filming of the Disney Channel television film Camp Rock. Lovato co-wrote most of the songs with the American boy band the Jonas Brothers, who produced the album alongside record producer John Fields. The album also includes Kara DioGuardi, Jason Reeves and Rooney frontman Robert Schwartzman, who collabrated from the album. Don't Forget features a power pop sound and the lyrics deal with various teen topics.

The album was met with generally positive reviews from critics. Due to most of the album being produced by the Jonas Brothers, critics noted distinctive similarities between the artists. Don't Forget debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has sold over 530,000 copies in the United States. Elsewhere, Don't Forget reached the top ten on the Canadian Albums Chart and reached the top forty in Spain and New Zealand, as well as being certified Gold in Brazil.

Joseph Arthur

Joseph Arthur (born September 28, 1971) is an American singer-songwriter and artist from Akron, Ohio, United States. He is best known for his solo material, and as a member of Fistful of Mercy and RNDM. Combining poetic lyrics with a layered sonic palette, Arthur has built his reputation over the years through critically acclaimed releases and constant touring; his unique solo live performances often incorporate the use of a number of distortion and loop pedals, and his shows are recorded live at the soundboard and made available to concertgoers immediately following the show on recordable media.

Arthur was discovered by Peter Gabriel in the mid-1990s, and signed to Gabriel's Real World label as the first North American artist on the label's roster. Arthur released his debut album, Big City Secrets (1997), and follow-up, Come to Where I'm From (2000), on Real World before signing with various independent labels between 2002 and 2006. He established his own record label, Lonely Astronaut Records, in 2006, and released two studio albums, Let's Just Be (2007) and Temporary People (2008) with backing band The Lonely Astronauts. Arthur subsequently returned to performing and recording as a solo artist, releasing The Graduation Ceremony in 2011 and the double album, Redemption City in 2012.
