STORYLINE:
Coalition forces recovered an arms cache in the main presidential compound in central Baghdad on Monday.
Most of the light weapons, AK-47s, rocket propelled grande launchers, mortars and light artillery, belonged to Saddam Hussein's medina division.
US troops found enough weapons to fill six warehouses, and loaded them onto trucks to be taken to safe storage.
First Sergeant James Ripley, of the 10th Infantry Batallion, said the weapons would be used to refit the new government of Iraq.
Also in Baghdad, boxes of munitions were found at a mosque and confiscated by soldiers.
Nuclear, biological and chemical warfare antidotes were also found, but in a different part of the city.
Elsewhere in Baghdad, coalition forces were filmed taking alleged members of the Fedayeen paramilitary into custody.

Fedayeen of Saddam, the paramilitary group led by President Saddam Hussein's son Uday, held a military parade in Baghdad on Thursday (27/11).
The Fedayeen of Saddam, or Saddam's commandos "who are ready to sacrifice themselves" was created in 1994 to fight off any military attack by the United States. It also has a special combat unit for women called "the Glorious," which was created last week as part of a mobilisation effort against the United States.

Fedayeen
Fedayeen (Arabic: فِدائيّين fidāʼīyīn, "those who sacrifice themselves") is a term used to refer to various military groups.
Nizari Ismaili state
Hassan-i-Sabbah, who founded the Nizari Ismaili state in Persia and Syria, first coined the term to refer to the Hashshashins. fidāʼīyīn is the plural of fidāʼī, which means "sacrifice." It is widely understood as "those willing to sacrifice themselves for God". The group carried out an armed struggle against enslavement.
Armenia
In the 19th century, the Armenian term "fedayi" was used by Armenians who formed guerrilla organizations and armed bands in reaction to the murder of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire. The term fedayi is derived from Arabic: فدائيون fidā'īyīn, literally meaning "those who sacrifice".
In the early 1990s, when the dispute with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh erupted into the Nagorno-Karabakh War, the term was used by Armenians to describe Armenian irregular units operating in the region. The term was widely used and is still used to describe the volunteers, and can be found in literature and Armenian revolutionary songs.

Saddam Hussein
Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti (Arabic: صدام حسين عبد المجيد التكريتي Ṣaddām Ḥusayn ʿAbd al-Maǧīd al-Tikrītī; 28 April 1937 – 30 December 2006) was the fifth President of Iraq, serving in this capacity from 16 July 1979 until 9 April 2003. A leading member of the revolutionary Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, and later, the Baghdad-based Ba'ath Party and its regional organization Ba'ath Party – Iraq Region—which espoused Ba'athism, a mix of Arab nationalism and socialism—Saddam played a key role in the 1968 coup (later referred to as the 17 July Revolution) that brought the party to power in Iraq.
As vice president under the ailing General Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, and at a time when many groups were considered capable of overthrowing the government, Saddam created security forces through which he tightly controlled conflict between the government and the armed forces. In the early 1970s, Saddam nationalized oil and other industries. The state-owned banks were put under his control, leaving the system eventually insolvent mostly due to the Iran–Iraq War, the Gulf War, and UN sanctions. Through the 1970s, Saddam cemented his authority over the apparatuses of government as oil money helped Iraq's economy to grow at a rapid pace. Positions of power in the country were mostly filled with Sunni Arabs, a minority that made up only a fifth of the population.

Coalition forces recovered an arms cache in the main presidential compound in central Baghdad on Monday.
Most of the light weapons, AK-47s, rocket propelled grande launchers, mortars and light artillery, belonged to Saddam Hussein's medina division.
US troops found enough weapons to fill six warehouses, and loaded them onto trucks to be taken to safe storage.
First Sergeant James Ripley, of the 10th Infantry Batallion, said the weapons would be used to refit the new government of Iraq.
Also in Baghdad, boxes of munitions were found at a mosque and confiscated by soldiers.
Nuclear, biological and chemical warfare antidotes were also found, but in a different part of the city.
Elsewhere in Baghdad, coalition forces were filmed taking alleged members of the Fedayeen paramilitary into custody.

The Fedayeen of Saddam, or Saddam's commandos "who are ready to sacrifice themselves" was created in 1994 to fight off any military attack by the United States. It also has a special combat unit for women called "the Glorious," which was created last week as part of a mobilisation effort against the United States.
