Over-the-Rhine, sometimes abbreviated OTR, is a neighborhood in Cincinnati. It is believed to be the largest, most intact urban historic district in the United States. Over-the-Rhine was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 with 943 contributing buildings. It contains the largest collection of Italianate architecture in the United States, and is an example of an intact 19th-century urban neighborhood. It was developed at a time of a high rate of German immigration to Cincinnati, and became the heart of its ethnic German community for decades. When Old St. Mary's Church opened here in 1842, it was the largest church in the Ohio Valley.
Today the neighborhood has a strong arts community, and is home to two arts schools and many theatres and galleries. In the 21st century, it is considered the fastest-growing, trendiest neighborhood in the city; Over-the-Rhine has been voted 'Best Cincinnati Neighborhood' in CityBeat's Best of Cincinnati from 2011-2014. Since the early 2000s, OTR has been experiencing rapid development, with many buildings being rehabilitated for use as apartments, condos and retail spaces. Over-the-Rhine is bordered by the neighborhoods of Downtown, CUF, Prospect Hill, Pendleton, and the West End.

All I need is everything by over the rhine..one of my favorite songs.. lyrics: Slow down. Hold still. It's not as if it's a matter of will. Someone's circling. Someone's moving a little lower than the angels. And it's got nothing to do with me. The wind blows through the trees, but if I look for it, it won't come. I tense up. My mind goes numb. There's nothing harder than learning how to receive. Calm down. Be still. We've got plenty of time to kill. No hand writing on the wall: just the voice that's in us all. And you're whispering to me, time to get up off my hands and knees, 'cause if I beg for it, it won't come. I find nothing but table crumbs. My hands are empty. God I've been naive. All I need is everything. Inside, outside, feel new skin. All I need is everything. Feel the slip an...

Cruising the Rhine River, we dodge riverboat traffic and the legendary Lorelei. After climbing castles and descending into dungeons, we relax with Rhine wine. We tour Burg Eltz — a lived-in castle where the noble lady still puts out fresh flowers. Then we enter the walled town of Rothenburg for Germany's best wood carving, a vivid dose of medieval punishment, and a tour with the night watchman of the town's lamp-lit ramparts. © 2002 Rick Steves' Europe
Travel video about the Mittel Rhein Boat Tour in Germany. Our journey begins in Koblenz. In around 1000 A.D. a castle was built on a knoll on the east bank of the Rhine and Castle Ehrenbreitstein gradually developed. Europe’s second largest fortress was given its appearance as we see it today, between 1817 and 1828. From the Middle Ages to the late eighteenth century, Koblenz was the residence of the powerful archbishops of Trier and in 1794 it was taken over by France and in 1815, by Prussia. Following the Rhine, our journey leads to Boppard where town houses, stately homes and churches form the romantic old town. After the invasion of the Alemanni, a city wall was built in order to protect what was a toll castle and today the town has developed into an attractive tourist destination s...
Recently there are lot of visitors mainly from USA with hate speech towards German while most of them have never been in Germany before and read propaganda materials about Germany. I do not hate Americans or any race as I am citizen of the Earth and I feel proud of it but meanwhile shameful of narrow minded people. To all visitors with hate or discrimination comments if you are from USA, please look up Wikipedia or any source to see how Germans and German Americans have been contributing to your society and lot of inventions by Germans are made into use these days for all human races as long as other races on this earth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_American or http://mentalfloss.com/article/56714/most-commonly-spoken-language-each-state-besides-english-and-spanish I am not pa...

@~#A Bridge Too Far - 1977 *~ v.i.s.i.t : +~!~+ http://ow.ly/46pG30be0Po +~!~+ Tells the story of operation Market Garden. A failed attempt by the allies in the latter stages of WWII to end the war quickly by securing three bridges in Holland allowing access over the Rhine into Germany. A combination of poor allied intelligence and the presence of two crack German panzer divisions meant that the final part of this operation (the bridge in Arnhem over the Rhine) was doomed to failure.

Hej, Hej, Hej, Hej, Hej... Hej, you wanna sit right here?
Here beside me? Do you like that? I do.
Hej, you wanna say my name? Say it slowly.
Do you like that? I do.
Hej, Hej, Hej, you wanna hold my hand today?
Hej, Hej, Hej, you wanna dance here in the sand?
Hej, Hej, Hej, you wanna hold my hand today?
Hej, Hej, Hej, you know it won't be your last chance.
Hej, you wanna smile at me?
I'll adore you.
Do you like that? I do.
Hej, you wanna read my poetry by the sea boy?
Do you BABY? I do, I do.
Repeat Chorus.
Hej, Hej, Hej, Hej, Hej... Hej, you wanna hear a secret?
C'mere I'll whisper.
Do you like that? I do.
Hej, you wanna hear it again?
Maybe one day we'll be sayin' I DO.
