Telehealth Education, Training and Mentoring Curriculum for Primary Care Providers:
Focusing on HIV Treatment across the Care Continuum
The Florida/Caribbean Telehealth Education and Training Center (F/C TETC) educates, supports and mentors healthcare professionals and organizations seeking to care for individuals diagnosed with HIV in Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Bimonthly, live interactive telehealth sessions, using a basic computer and/or iPad and telephone, provide a convenient distance learning experience for providers seeking knowledge about the treatment and care of patients who are HIV-positive. Equipment to promote high quality connections during the sessions is provided at no charge to offices or clinics if needed.
The framework for the F/C TETC curriculum is the evidence-based treatment and care that prepares providers to meet the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. These goals are to reduce new HIV infections in our communities, increase patient access to HIV-care, improve health outcomes for people living with HIV, and reduce HIV-related health disparities. Each F/C TETC telehealth session consists of a brief didactic training followed by an opportunity for participants to share cases for clinical discussion with our eLearning community consisting of an interdisciplinary team of faculty providers and participants from other clinical partner sites. Free continuing education credits are available at the completion of each session.
Healthcare providers in primary care settings treating fewer than 25 patients with HIV infection are eligible to participate. The F/C TETC welcomes your questions about our HIV telehealth curriculum and mentoring opportunities and invites you to contact us to learn how you can participate!
