Né en 1933 à Alep, en Syrie, dans une famille très religieuse, Sabah Fakhri est l'une des très grande voix du monde arabe, unanimement appréciée du Proche Orient au Maghreb.
Etudiant au Conservatoire d'Alep d'abord, de Damas ensuite, Sabah Fakhri s'est imprégné durant de longues années de la grande tradition du chant arabe, auprès de maîtres tels qu'Ali Darwich, Omar Batch ou Mohamed Rajab.Il a apporté au Muwachchah (style dérivé de l'andalou, dont sa ville natale d'Alep est dépositaire) une touche novatrice, en élargissant la formule du Takht classique (petite formation traditionnelle de chambre), à un grand orchestre largement dévolu aux cordes : violons, violoncelles, contrebasse.Maîtrisant un répertoire très vaste incluant les grands poètes arabes classiques ou contemporains, tels que Abous Firas el Hamdani, Ibn Zeydoun ou Ibn Zuhr, c'est dans le style alepin que ce grand ténor donne le meilleur de lui-même.Connu de tout le public syrien et arabe, repris souvent en chœur par l'auditoire, son répertoire se compose de pièces savantes et de morceaux très populaires, liés les uns aux autres dans l'esprit de la Wasla (suite), avec des parties improvisées et mesurées allant du Muwachchah au Mawal (déclamation développée sur un poème) et assorties de compositions (Sammaï) et d'improvisation sur des modes (Taqsims).Maître du Tarab, cette ivresse musicale qui saisit l'auditoire mélomane, Sabah Fakhri donne, depuis des décennies, d'innombrables concerts à travers le monde et a reçu en 1978 la Médaille d'Or de la Musique Arabe de Damas.Ses apparitions télévisées, en tant que comédien/chanteur dans des feuilletons célèbres tels que Nagham el Ams (Mélodies du Passé) ou Al Wadi Al Kabir (La Grande Vallée), où il donne la réplique à la grande chanteuse algérienne Warda, ont largement contribué à son immense popularité dans le monde arabe.

Sabah is one of 13 member states of Malaysia, and is its easternmost state. It is located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo. It is the second largest state in the country after Sarawak, which it borders on its southwest. It also shares a border with the province of East Kalimantan of Indonesia in the south. In spite of its status as a Malaysian state, Sabah remains a disputed territory; the Philippines has a dormant claim over much of the eastern part of the territory. The capital of Sabah is Kota Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton. Sabah is often referred to as "Land Below The Wind", because of its location just south of the typhoon-prone region around the Philippines.
The origin of the name Sabah is uncertain, and there are many theories that have arisen. One theory is that during the time it was part of the Bruneian Sultanate, it was referred to as Saba because of the presence of pisang saba, a type of banana, found on the coasts of the region. Due to the location of Sabah in relation to Brunei, it has been suggested that Sabah was a Bruneian Malay word meaning upstream or the northern side of the river. Another theory suggests that it came from the Malay word sabak which means a place where palm sugar is extracted. Sabah is also an Arabic word which means sunrise. The presence of multiple theories makes it difficult to pinpoint the true origin of the name.

Sabah Fakhri (Arabic: صباح فخري) (born 1933): is an iconic Arabic traditional singer from Aleppo, Syria.
Over the past 50 years of fame and popularity as a singer, Mr. Sabah Fakhri modified and popularized the then-fading form of traditional Arabic music, Muwashahat and Koodood Halabiya. He is well known for his exceptionally strong vocals, impeccable execution of Maqamat and harmony, as well as charismatic performances. He has numerous admirers around the world, and an excellent performer of authentic Arabic Tarab.
Fakhri was born Sabah Abu Qaws in Aleppo, Syria in 1933, and enrolled in the Academy of Arabic Music of Aleppo, then later in the Academy of Damascus, from which he graduated in 1948. He was given the stage name Fakhri by his mentor, Syrian nationalist leader Fakhri al-Barudi, who encouraged him as a young boy to stay in Syria and not travel to Italy. One of the earliest performances for Fakhri was in 1948 at the Presidential Palace in Damascus, before President Shukri al-Quwatli and Prime Minister Jamil Mardam Bey. Unlike many Arab artists, he never studied or worked in Cairo, insisting that his fame is linked to his origins, as a Syrian Arab.

Né en 1933 à Alep, en Syrie, dans une famille très religieuse, Sabah Fakhri est l'une des très grande voix du monde arabe, unanimement appréciée du Proche Orient au Maghreb.
Etudiant au Conservatoire d'Alep d'abord, de Damas ensuite, Sabah Fakhri s'est imprégné durant de longues années de la grande tradition du chant arabe, auprès de maîtres tels qu'Ali Darwich, Omar Batch ou Mohamed Rajab.Il a apporté au Muwachchah (style dérivé de l'andalou, dont sa ville natale d'Alep est dépositaire) une touche novatrice, en élargissant la formule du Takht classique (petite formation traditionnelle de chambre), à un grand orchestre largement dévolu aux cordes : violons, violoncelles, contrebasse.Maîtrisant un répertoire très vaste incluant les grands poètes arabes classiques ou contemporains, tels que Abous Firas el Hamdani, Ibn Zeydoun ou Ibn Zuhr, c'est dans le style alepin que ce grand ténor donne le meilleur de lui-même.Connu de tout le public syrien et arabe, repris souvent en chœur par l'auditoire, son répertoire se compose de pièces savantes et de morceaux très populaires, liés les uns aux autres dans l'esprit de la Wasla (suite), avec des parties improvisées et mesurées allant du Muwachchah au Mawal (déclamation développée sur un poème) et assorties de compositions (Sammaï) et d'improvisation sur des modes (Taqsims).Maître du Tarab, cette ivresse musicale qui saisit l'auditoire mélomane, Sabah Fakhri donne, depuis des décennies, d'innombrables concerts à travers le monde et a reçu en 1978 la Médaille d'Or de la Musique Arabe de Damas.Ses apparitions télévisées, en tant que comédien/chanteur dans des feuilletons célèbres tels que Nagham el Ams (Mélodies du Passé) ou Al Wadi Al Kabir (La Grande Vallée), où il donne la réplique à la grande chanteuse algérienne Warda, ont largement contribué à son immense popularité dans le monde arabe.

On a classic longboat powered by outboard motor, we travel on the Brunei River and are soon surrounded by mangrove brush. Tropical thunderstorms and monsoon rain create dense vegetation and the ensuing humidity produces lush flora.
At the junction of two muddy-grey waterways of the Brunei River is an historic location, Kampung Ayer, a water village. The park is one of the most popular tourist spot in Sabah as well as in Malaysia. In 2004, more than 415,360 visitors and 43,430 climbers visited the Park.
Kinabalu Park is situated on the Crocker Range on the eastern coast of Sabah. It is located within the district of Ranau, within the West Coast Division. The park is not to be confused with Crocker Range National Park which is a separate park in the south.
The park headquarters is 88 kilometers away from the city of Kota Kinabalu. There are highways and sealed roads leading towards the park headquarters from other parts of Sabah. It is situated on the southern boundary of Kinabalu Park, at an elevation of 1,563m (5,128 feet).
This park is administered by an organization called Sabah Parks. Accommodations in the form of chalets can be found in the park, mostly around the headquarters. Reservations for accommodation and mountain climbing guides are processed through Sutera Sanctuary Lodges. Every person who wishes to climb the mountain must be accompanied by a qualified guide.
The mountain summit trail begins at Timpohon. There is also an alternative route called the Mesilau Trail.
A notable feature of the park is Low's Gully. It is a 1.6 kilometre deep ravine stretching 10 kilometres on the side of the mountain peak.

For the locals it is also known as Api-Api.[5] It is a major fishing destination and a popular gateway for travellers visiting Sabah and Borneo.[2][6] Kinabalu National Park is located about 90 kilometres from the city and there are many tourist attractions in and around the city. Kota Kinabalu is also one of the major industrial and commercial centres of East Malaysia. These two factors combine to make Kota Kinabalu one of the fastest growing cities in Malaysia.[7][8]
There are a number of cultural venues in Kota Kinabalu. The Sabah State Museum, situated near the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, is the main museum of Sabah.[3] In the vicinity of the museum are the Science and Technology Centre, Sabah Art Gallery, and the Ethno Botanic Gardens. Wisma Budaya Art Gallery in the city centre hosts some national as well as regional art exhibitions. The Hongkod Koisaan building in Penampang is home to the Kadazan-Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA).[92] It hosts the annual Kaamatan or Harvest Festival and the Unduk Ngadau beauty contest, which is held concurrently, in March. Monsopiad Cultural Village (Kampung Monsopiad) features cultural shows related to the Kadazan-Dusun culture. It is named after the legendary Kadazan-Dusun headhunting warrior, Monsopiad.[93]
Kota Kinabalu also features a number of shopping malls. These include Kompleks Karamunsing, Centre Point, Wisma Merdeka, Warisan Square, Plaza Wawasan, Kompleks Asia City,[3] City Mall, KK Plaza, Suria Sabah and 1Borneo, which is the largest hypermall in Kota Kinabalu.[69] Newly constructed malls in Kota Kinabalu include the Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, which currently holds GSC Kota Kinabalu, and Megalong Shopping Mall, which is situated in the district of Penampang.[69] Karamunsing, where Kompleks Karamunsing is situated, is an area that has more computer shops per capita than anywhere else in Sabah.[110] The weekly Gaya Street Sunday Market features a gathering of local hawkers selling a wide range of items from traditional ethnic cultural souvenirs to pets and flowers.[111] The Kota Kinabalu Handicraft Market (formerly known as the Filipino Market) features vendors selling traditional handicrafts, souvenirs and foodstuffs.[112]
There are many leisure spots and conserved areas in and around Kota Kinabalu. Anjung Samudra (KK Waterfront) is a waterfront entertainment spot in the city centre which features restaurants, cafes, pubs, and a nightclub. The Royal Sabah Turf Club in Tanjung Aru hosts weekly horse racing events but has since closed and moved to Tambalang Race Course in Tuaran due to the expansion of Kota Kinabalu International Airport. The North Borneo Railway, which begins its journey from Tanjung Aru station, offers a scenic tour of the countryside in the West Coast Division and the Interior Division.[15] The railway journey ends in the town of Tenom.[15] Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club near the city centre was built on reclaimed land.[3] It features a golf and country club, a marina, and two hotels.
Tanjung Aru, located about 6 kilometres from the city centre, is one of the beaches along the West Coast. Its name was derived from the casuarina trees (locally called Aru trees) that grow on the shoreline.[97] The beach is over 2 kilometres in length and is complemented with a number food and drink stalls, restaurants, and night entertainment clubs. In the vicinity of Tanjung Aru lies the Kinabalu Golf Club, Prince Philip Botanical Park, KK Yacht Club, and Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Beach Resort. This beach is famous for its sunset.[98][99]

In this video, he started the day early in Johor and took the first plane out to Kota Kinabalu. His friend Douglas, picked him up and was his local insider guide for the day, So join them as they explore what Kota Kinabalu and the Mengkabong River has to offer.

Mengkabong River - Just 45 minutes drive north from Kota Kinabalu, where you can take a mangrove river cruise to explore the wild life in the area. White egret fly freely and hang on the top of the mangroves, if you are lucky you might see a family of Proboscis Monkey up along the waters to welcome you. This is also where the Sea Bajau Water Village is located which where most of them are practicing the traditional lifestyle which explains why they are commonly called "Sea Gypsies"

Kinabatangan tours can take you from the mist-shrouded hills in the Malaysian highlands to limestone caves adorned with edible birds’ nests. In between, you’ll see freshwater swamps and groups of mangroves, along with villages full of river dwellers and traders who have made the Kinabatangan their livelihood for centuries.
Your Kinabatangan sightseeing will no doubt include the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, which sits in the lowlands near the coast. Climb into a small boat and motor down the river, taking in all the astonishing flora and fauna. Orangutans, crocodiles, and hundreds of species of birds, among other animals, make this place their home.
