Is it better for a suspension to have soft coil springs or stiff springs? The purpose of a suspension is to keep your tires on the ground. A softer suspension will offer more mechanical grip as it will do a better job of keeping the tires on the ground vs a stiff suspension when it comes to depressions, bumps, and surface irregularities in the road. But then why do race cars have such stiff suspensions? This video explains the design philosophy behind race car suspensions.

A native American tribe called the Mandan first practiced suspension as a tradition marking the transition from boyhood to manhood. Tribe elders used handmade hooks to pierce the skin, then lifted the boys into the air using ropes. They'd hang like this, often for days. Those who could survive the ritual officially became men.
Today, suspension is a spiritual and transcultural phenomenon practiced all over the world. Galeb Nikačević from VICE Serbia decided to experience the practice firsthand.

Filmed in Ton Sai, Thailand, this gruesome footage shows adrenaline junkie Josh Miramant performing a suspension jump – where metal canopy hooks are inserted into the skin. San Francisco resident Josh had only started basejumping three weeks before the incredible stunt and had completed 21 jumps in that short time. The Maine born rock climber first discovered the remote beach peninsula of Ton Sai while backpacking through South East Asia nearly a decade ago and returned for a fourth time to perform this ultimate leap of faith.

Here is Part 2 of the Integra/Civic Rear Suspension Rebuild. This video covers the replacement of the front and rear coil springs. It also has some helpful tips on prepping for an alignment. If you do rear trailing arm bushings on these vehicles it is highly recommended that you get an alignment when you're done. If not, you could get some nasty tire wear. This series of videos was actually shot back in 2004 or 2005, I'm not sure which. That said, I believe it is the first repair video that I ever shot. It's interesting to see how ETCG began. Today we have Jeremy from Air Lift Performance to help us install their complete digital air suspension kit on a 2013 GT500. This kit will fit all 05-14 Mustangs. Air Lift's kit allows you to drop the ride height over 4 inches from the original stock height for a killer parked stance. With the simple push of a button, you can raise it back up and into your desired ride height for cruising, a road course, or even the drag strip. The system has 8 programable pre-sets so you can have the perfect height for any application.
Installation is pretty straight forward, but time consuming depending on how well you want to hide the hoses and wires for the system. On average it can be done in about 8 hours, but give yourself a good weekend to complete the installation.
Installed this system is awesome. The car drops in seconds and raises just as fast. The controller is simple and easy to use and will help you set the exact height you want. A great feature is when your car is lowered for a show, when you turn the key it will automatically rise to drive height. Once the LeMans is sorted we work on our 1973 Chevy Ramp Truck during a Dickies Roadkill Project Car Update. The electrical system has seen better days and so we play detective to trace a battery drain and replace both batteries with new units from AC Delco. We wrap up this episode with a question and answer session with Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger as they ponder the mysteries of the universe and cars in general.

Here is Part 2 of the Integra/Civic Rear Suspension Rebuild. This video covers the replacement of the front and rear coil springs. It also has some helpful tips on prepping for an alignment. If you do rear trailing arm bushings on these vehicles it is highly recommended that you get an alignment when you're done. If not, you could get some nasty tire wear.
This series of videos was actually shot back in 2004 or 2005, I'm not sure which. That said, I believe it is the first repair video that I ever shot. It's interesting to see how ETCG began. I hope you enjoy the video.

Here is Part 2 of the Integra/Civic Rear Suspension Rebuild. This video covers the replacement of the front and rear coil springs. It also has some helpful tips on prepping for an alignment. If you do rear trailing arm bushings on these vehicles it is highly recommended that you get an alignment when you're done. If not, you could get some nasty tire wear.
This series of videos was actually shot back in 2004 or 2005, I'm not sure which. That said, I believe it is the first repair video that I ever shot. It's interesting to see how ETCG began. I hope you enjoy the video.
Lastly, they now make a special tool for removing these bushings that makes things a LOT easier. Here's a link.

Here's another installment of Fixing it Forward. In this episode we solve a nagging suspension noise and also repair the rear brakes. It appears the right rear wheel didn't have the parking brake connected. I investigate to find out why and make the repair.
If you're looking for a video on Chrysler/Dodge drum brakes, this is the video for you. As an added bonus, I also replace the front brakes in this video. The rotors had gotten rusty and we decided to replace them with a new set of pads.
