Marathwada (IPA:Marāṭhvāḍā) is one of the five regions in Indian state of Maharashtra. The region coincides with the Aurangabad Division of Maharashtra.
The term Marathwada literally indicates "The House of Marathi people" that is land occupied by Marathi speaking population in former Hyderabad state in Nizam rule. The origin of the term traced back to 18th century in state records of Nizam of Hyderabad.
Mughal king Muhammad Shah appointed a Turani noble Asaf Jah I as the wazir of Mughal Empire in 1722, but in 1724 he left for the Deccan to start his own kingdom and took the title Nizam-ul-Mulk. Marathwada become a part of Nizam of Hyderabad, which later came to be known as the princely state of Hyderabad but under the suzerainty of British India. Mir Osman Ali Khan was the last Nizam ruler of Hyderabad state. ("Nizam" became the title of the ruling descendants of Nizam-ul-Mulk.)
On August 15, 1947, British India was partitioned into two independent states, the Union of India and Pakistan, and the Nizam ruling Hyderabad State at that time chose not to merge Hyderabad state into either country. Subsequently, through Operation Polo, a "police action" on September 17, 1948, the Indian army annexed Hyderabad to India.
Regional planning deals with the efficient placement of land-use activities, infrastructure, and settlement growth across a larger area of land than an individual city or town. Regional planning is a sub-field of urban planning as it relates land use practices on a broader scale.
Although the term "regional planning" is nearly universal in English-speaking countries the areas covered and specific administrative set ups vary widely. In North America, regional planning may encompass more than one state, such as the Regional Plan Association, or a larger conurbation or network of settlements. North American regional planning is likely to cover a much larger area than the Regional Assemblies of the UK; both, however, are equally "regional" in nature.
Regions require various land uses; protection of farmland, cities, industrial space, transportation hubs and infrastructure, military bases, and wilderness. Regional planning is the science of efficient placement of infrastructure and zoning for the sustainable growth of a region. Advocates for regional planning such as new urbanist Peter Calthorpe, promote the approach because it can address region-wide environmental, social, and economic issues which may necessarily require a regional focus.

Marathwada is considered to be the most drought affected region in the country, with locals staring at parched lands in Latur, Nanded and Beed among other areas. In fact, water had to be brought to the drought-hit Latur town through trains for several months. But four years of drought finally came to an end in Marathwada after it rained for nearly 10 days, as locals celebrated with sweets, drums and selfies next to the overflowing dams. Delighted officials said small and medium projects in all the 8 districts of Marathwada are overflowing, while the big capacity dams are either full or have crossed the 50% mark. Iceland, despite its name, is not always covered in snow and ice. But in December, Reykjavik had a record snowfall for the month with a total 42 cm (16.5 inches). That was enough to break the previous December record of 33 cm. set in 2011. Fresh snowfall can make most places look magical, but that seems to be especially true in Iceland. Photographer Iurie Belegurschi, co-founder of online travel marketplace Guide to Iceland, did a photoshoot to show just how astonishing this winter wonderland has become. http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/g7Xal6GaUbk/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
