I Created Disco

I Created Disco is the debut studio album by Scottish recording artist Calvin Harris, released on 15 June 2007 by Columbia Records. It was preceded by the singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls", which reached numbers ten and three on the UK Singles Chart, respectively.

The album debuted at number eight on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 16,121 copies. On 23 May 2008, it was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).I Created Disco had sold 223,845 copies in the United Kingdom by November 2014.

Writing and recording

Writing and recording for I Created Disco started in 2006 when Harris moved back to his hometown of Dumfries, Scotland, after living in London for two years. All recording and producing for the album took place on an Amiga computer with audio tracker OctaMED in Harris's home studio, called Calvinharrisbeats Studio. All fourteen tracks on the album were written, produced and performed solely by Harris.

Promotion

Preceding the release of the album, Columbia released two singles, "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls", and Harris and his band supported both Faithless and Groove Armada on their live arena tours in the second quarter of 2007. The album cover was also used to promote the fourth generation iPod Nano in yellow.

Colours (Mark Norman album)

Colours is the second studio album by Mark de Jong and Norman Lenden as Mark Norman under Magik Muzik, a sub-label from Black Hole Recordings. All tracks with the exception of "Talk Like a Stranger" and "One Moon Circling" were produced and composed by Mark Norman To celebrate the release of the album, Mark Norman's management Global Twist Music prepared a world tour, supported by V Media Creative.

Colours (Christopher album)

Colours is the debut studio album of Danish singer Christopher released on EMI Denmark. Two singles were released from the album prior. They are "Against the Odds" and "Nothing in Common".

Welcome (1986 film)

Welcome (Russian: Добро пожаловать) is a 1986 Soviet paint-on-glass-animated 10-minute film adapted from the 1948 children's book by Dr. Seuss Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose. Coproduction of Sverdlovsk television studio and Gosteleradio.

Released in 1986, the film went on to win the Grand Prix at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in 1988 and in Los Angeles. Although the visual style is quite different, the story is mostly the same with the exception of some subtle changes — for example, the moose isn't shown rejoining his herd at the end and the squatter animals aren't stuffed and mounted. Also, none of the animals are ever named and there is no narrator. The film was directed by Alexei Karayev. The art director was Aleksandr Petrov, who would later win an Oscar for his 1999 film The Old Man and the Sea. The screenplay was written by Yury Iosifovich Koval, a renowned author.

Welcome (Fort Minor song)

"Welcome" is a song by American hip hop act Fort Minor, the side project of rock band Linkin Park's co-lead vocalist Mike Shinoda. Mike Shinoda released the song via the official Fort Minor site on June 21, 2015. Shinoda has stated the track is not part of a future album and is just meant as a single to be heard "right now". It is also the first release from Fort Minor since going on hiatus back in 2006.

Background and composition

"Welcome" is written and produced by Mike Shinoda. "Welcome" is an alternative hip hop song, that features a church organ-based hook and hip hop based beats. The lyrics of the song basically relate to the Fort Minor fans. It explains that they were left behind and let down. The lyrics also explain that Shinoda doesn't care if people like his new music or not.

Mike Shinoda made the song available as a free download through Fort Minor's official website, similar to the download of "Final Masquerade (Acoustic)", making it a "Promotional single". But the song was also available in "Vinyl" form, making it as a single. Later the song was made available on iTunes and Google Play as a digital single.
