3 hours ago · 1Ruth HesseI hope everyone is done at this point. We were done at 12:45, and that was after going through things at least a few times.
3 hours ago · 2Seth MangoldThey are still counting at the Dems office. Yuge turn out takes longer to count :)
2 hours ago · 6Dan BrownAt the Silver Beach Elementary site, 11 precincts, Bernie had 68% of the vote !!!!
2 hours ago · 4I wish everyone had seen the caucus at Sunnyland. A little chaotic at times but a GREAT experience. Washington showed the country how to do a caucus today!!! Thanks to the Sunnyland PTA for providing refreshments, that was really nice.
Do you think if more people had known you could be in and out in literally FIVE MINUTES if you brought a preregistration form that maybe even more people would have showed up?
Please consider joining the Whatcom County Democratic Party. The party paid for the caucus, set all the rules, and ran it. It went swimmingly well considering it had been eight years since the last one, and each time it gets better. The more of us that contribute and make ourselves part of the process the louder our voices will be heard.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART TODAY, GREAT JOB!!! :) ...

Lucy Applegate DeGraceThere was no way for us to be in and out in 5 min at WCC despite having completed forms. No one seemed to know exactly how it was supposed to work. In at 945ish, out at noon.
4 hours agoAlan HallMore people would have showed up if they knew they could simply drop off their vote and leave. (I'd been telling people that since summer, but the establishment Dems said no, that we needed to tell people they had to stay for the whole thing.) Once your vote is in, it counts toward the precinct total. The only reason to stay after that is for delegate selection.
4 hours ago · 3Lucy Applegate DeGraceHmm. I'd been led to believe that if we left early our vote wouldn't count. I am glad I stayed, met some great peeps, but probably would have left if I'd known I could have
4 hours ago · 2Ruth HesseThe downside to leaving is that you don't have the chance to be a delegate or an alternate. If too many people leave and those positions can't be filled, then we lose that delegate. That is why people should stay. Once the delegates are decided on and the party has their information is the best time to leave. But yes, if all you can do is drop off the form, I guess that's all you can do.
3 hours ago · 2Lucy Applegate DeGraceYeah I can definitely see value in staying. I considered being a delegate.
3 hours ago · 1Ruth HesseIt was really hard to come up with enough delegates in my precinct (203). Lots of people couldn't commit because of work or kids. We are actually short on alternates.

4 hours agoAny results from Ferndale or Lynden?? ...
Karen Price likes this
Charis Snyder GilbertFor precinct 610 it was 2 Bernie, 1 Hillary. I haven't heard any results yet for the total Lynden caucus location, which was divided into "city" precincts and "county" precincts. My understanding for the city precincts is unofficially, it was 2 to 1, Bernie. The county was meeting in a separate part of the school building and I didn't see/hear any numbers. I will check with Alyce Werkema to see what she knows and post here.
5 hours ago · 3Ruth HesseThat is incredibly exciting
5 hours ago · 1Melody PearlI'm a delegate for Ferndale's 506th and both us and 505 (who we at one point shared a room with) were overwhelmingly Bernie. We were 4 Bernie/1 Clinton, and 505 were 3 Bernie/1 Clinton.
5 hours ago · 7Matthew MikotaLynden Grange: All Bernie. - At least my friend's precinct. Just talked to him, he said there were a bunch of county precincts. But also, that it was almost all Bernie so a full sweep is for sure possible.

Final tally:
Bernie - 157
Hillary - 7 (only 2 supporters showed up in person)

4 hours agoIan HarperThat's where I caucused, it was at Carl Cozier elementary. We were done before noon. I think if your friend had shown up earlier she would have been counted as long as she was in before the final vote. We had a couple show up late they just weren't counted for the initial vote.

Emmanuel Stanus-ghibThank you.
18 hours agoEmmanuel Stanus-ghibAs the PCO i'm going to ask everyone in my caucus to write down the names of friends and family members who they know for a fact have submitted surrogate forms. I'm disturbed by this news because iv'e turned in approximately 16 surrogate forms from co-workers and friends, most of which are not in my precinct. Is there any way for people who have submitted surrogate forms to check and see that their forms have made it back?
18 hours ago · 4Lori HeggemI would like that answered as well, Emmanuel
18 hours agoBob BurrOnly if they have friends who will be at the precinct caucus. An incident report can be filed with the PCO or caucus chair. If enough people complain to the State Party. I would press them to set up a hotline, With 18 times more surrogate forms than in 2008, screw-ups are natural. I hope that this is not an epidemic problem.
18 hours ago · 1Emmanuel Stanus-ghibMe too. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
17 hours agoAnnika FlemingWoah. Okay. How do I get in contact with someone from my precinct? I'm out of the state right now I want to make sure my form ended up where it needed to.
17 hours agoPaula SmithHUM!
17 hours agoJohn HoguePeople who filed surrogate forms and had a change in plans that now allows them to caucus can do so, just make it clear to the PCO (acting or elected) that you did so. If your surrogate form is not there for whatever reason of course you can turn in a new ballot.
11 hours agoLyn BaileyThank you Bob
11 hours agoEmmanuel Stanus-ghibI'm at my precinct setting up looking through the surrogate forms and I notice my girlfriends is missing.
9 hours ago · 1Alan HallGood job on the speech, Bob! Only Bernie himself could have received more applause! :)
5 hours agoScott SandersonWE AWARDED DELEGATES 4 TO 1 FOR BERNIE IN 265 !
3 hours ago · 2Mark WaschkeWe as well had missing surrogate forms. The PCO said take it up with the Bernie office [they faxed it in last fri.]. I said it was a Dem thing that it wasn't there. One or two more in our precinct and we may have had a sweep as opposed to 4-1. Four surrogate forms were included who were all for Bernie. I watched my girl friends be signed and faxed last week.
2 hours agoMark WaschkeNatalie McClendon was our PCO for 135
2 hours agoMark WaschkeIt would be nice to know how many surrogate forms are confirmed missing. I'm sure there are others without anyone there to confirm.
1 hour agoMark WaschkeEvery delegate counts although without more than 1 it wouldn't have changed anything in my precinct. It is a vote not counted though. That's not right.
1 hour agoLori HeggemWe sent in 4 surrogate forms for my household and we didnt have anyone to check - that bothers me.
1 hour ago · 1Jean M. LaytonWe had one missing but luckily the person came into the caucus
38 minutes agoAmy PashovThanks Bob, I had one neighbor who I personally know sent hers in (I assisted in this) and it was not there. I called the hotline number right away (about 9:00 am)given to us from the bernie folks here in Bellingham and reported it. There was nothing they could do however. I then came home after the caucus and called two other families (three people total) who I had thought they also had said they had sent in surrogate forms, just to double check if this was wider spread in my area. I have not heard back from those folks as of yet. I had yet another neighbor that I also helped to print/scan her form and I was happy to see that it was there when i did the tally for my precinct: Precinct 137.
