When you think about the cuteness culture in Japan, the word “kawaii” comes to mind. The word, which signals more of a childlike sense of cute, came about in the 70s and it’s been used globally ever since. And Sanrio, the company that created Hello Kitty, has built an empire around the “kawaii” culture. Cuteness is a reaction. In Japan, the kawaii culture and concept is often linked to the country’s post-WWII years. The idea is that, because of its trauma and defeat, the country leaned into its vulnerability. Decades later— Sanrio’s new face of kawaii is an egg yolk with depression, questioning life.

This animation was a university project I did for my MA course at London College of Communication. After doing research about the shape of circles I wanted to create an animation showing emotions and personality without using obvious characters or faces but only deformed round shapes. The egg as a symbol of creation and life was the perfect object to build the narrative around. The aim was to show life starting from birth, including difficulties in life, helping each other, daring to explore and group dynamics. The story was built as a loop to carry on the idea of the circle of life.

Yolk
The yolk is a part of an egg (or just of the egg cell in non-egg-laying animals) that feeds the developing embryo in animals. In whole eggs, 43% of the protein comes from the yolk.
Also known as deutoplasm, this food material is accumulated during oogenesis, together with RNA molecules and other substances. These may be synthesized by the oocyte itself or by the cytoplasm of other non-germ cells. The amount of yolk in an egg cell affects the developmental processes that follow fertilization.
Apart from animals, other organisms, like algae, specially in the oogamous, can also accumulate resources in their female gametes. In gymnosperms, the remains of the female gametophyte serve also as food supply, and in flowering plants, the endosperm.
Chicken egg yolk
In the avian egg, the yolk usually is some shade of yellow in colour. It is spherical and is suspended in the egg white (known alternatively as albumen or glair/glaire) by one or two spiral bands of tissue called the chalazae. Prior to fertilization, the yolk is a single cell, the ovum or egg cell, one of the few single cells that can be seen by the naked eye. This fact was discovered by Hoyer in 1858.

YOLK
This animation was a university project I did for my MA course at London College of Communication. After doing research about the shape of circles I wanted to create an animation showing emotions and personality without using obvious characters or faces but only deformed round shapes. The egg as a symbol of creation and life was the perfect object to build the narrative around. The aim was to show life starting from birth, including difficulties in life, helping each other, daring to explore and group dynamics. This animation was a university project I did for my MA course at London College of Communication. After doing research about the shape of circles I wanted to create an animation showing emotions and personality without using obvious characters or faces but only deformed round shapes. The egg as a symbol of creation and life was the perfect object to build the narrative around. The aim was to show life starting from birth, including difficulties in life, helping each other, daring to explore and group dynamics. The story was built as a loop to carry on the idea of the circle of life.

Ingredients and method for the dark chocolate torte. 135g dark chocolate (55 to 70 per cent). 60g unsalted butter. 160g large eggs. 80g brown sugar. 25g almond powder. 250g dark chocolate. 50ml corn oil. Gently melt the butter and chocolate together over low heat in a bain-marie. Remove from heat once melted. Mixture should be body temperature. If hotter, allow to cool ... 200g egg yolk ... Meanwhile, whisk the egg yolk and sugar in a bowl ... ....

Celebrity cook Nigella Lawson is creating heat among fans after concocting a recipe of just tomatoes and salad cream. The domestic goddess shared her "Old Fashioned Tomato Salad" with fans on social media on Tuesday. However, the recipe, which included cherry tomatoes, chives and dressing, fired up some foodies ... In Lawson's recipe, the chef used 60ml of cream, white wine and grated nutmeg, and does not separate egg yolks from whites....
