Folk Songs Of Bengal is a compilation of Bengali Baul Songs that comprise of three of the greatest artists of Bengali Folk, like S D Burman, Purna Das Baul and Amar Pal. Folk Songs Of Bengal has a unique variety and spread that is colorful and adverse with a lot of earthy melodies and catchy rhythms. The first artist in this compilation is the legendary S D Burman. S D Burman is known greatly as a brilliant music composer for Bollywood, But he is equally known for his own Bengali Folk songs. The two very famous song of his is included in this album. Bauls are a mystic cult from Bengal following the sexo yogic tradition. The Baul Songs are highly spiritual and often they represent a dual meaning that propagates their spirituality and secret lifestyle. Purna Das Baul was one of the first Bauls who took Baul Songs to an international stage and made them popular worldwide. Baul Songs are traditionally played with traditional accompaniment like Ektara, Ghungur and Dubki and Khamak. In this compilation Purna Das Baul has sung very popular Baul Songs. An example of a popular song is Golemale Golemale. The third artist in this compilation is the noted Bengali Lokgeeti or Folk singer, Amar Pal. Amar Pal is noted for his melodious voice and pure rendition of traditional Bengali Lokgeeti or Bengali Folk Songs. Amar Pal has sung in many dialects of both the Western or Eastern part of Bengal. In this compilation Amar Pal shows the varities of different styles he can render. The most famous song here is Hari Din To Gelo composed by legendary Chandra Kanto Nandi.
