The camp is secluded on 400 acres (1.6 km²) of woods, lakes and hills. It is abutted by two other large tracts of wooded property giving those who desire a chance to hike and observe all types of wildlife and natural beauty. Its facilities include:

History

Camping is an extension of the mission of The Salvation Army. Star Lake summer camp has provided numerous warm, happy memories for thousands of youngsters from around the Greater New York area dating back to 1923. The camp began as an opportunity for children to escape from the city to spend a day in the country. Eventually over the years, The Salvation Army expanded the camping program by building housing for the children to stay for a week at a time.

Star Lake (Otter Tail County, Minnesota)

Star Lake is a lake located in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. Star Lake Township, Minnesota is named after the lake because the township consists of nearly the entire lake. Public access to the lake is available on Minnesota State Highway 108.

Size and Shape

Star Lake is named so because it consists of a main circular lake with three arms stretching out to resemble points of a star. The lake covers an area of 4,721 acres (19.11 km²), and is known to be very deep just off the eastern shores of the lake, reaching a maximum depth of 94 feet (29 m).

Location

Star lake is located at 46°31′N 95°48′W / 46.517°N 95.800°W / 46.517; -95.800. The lake drains through a small channel into the slightly larger Dead Lake directly to its southeast.
