Regal Entertainment

Regal Entertainment, Inc. is a Philippine filmmaking and entertainment firm that was established by Lily Monteverde in 1962. It has produced movies of all genres.

History

In the beginning, Mother Lily and his father Remy put up a popcorn stand, 5 decades ago at the Podmon Theater in C.M. Recto, Manila (which is served as the head office of Regal before it moved to the Valencia studio). Regal Films was started by distributing foreign films, such as That Man from Istabul, Marsha and All Mine to Give, pouring funds for Mother Lily, to produce a local movie. In 1976, Mother Lily ask permission to her father to produce her first project, "Kayod sa Umaga, Kayod sa Gabi", that went into a big hit then in theaters. Alma Moreno, was the first star that give an exclusive contract with Regal, or commonly known as Regal Babies. In its early years, Regal Films produced local movies with a "mature" and "daring" style, although it also produced "wholesome" pictures. In 1987, it ventured in local television, "Regal Television" produces several entertainment programs in '80s and '90s and aired in three different channels, ABS-CBN 2, GMA 7 and IBC 13.

Peque Gallaga

Peque Gallaga (born Maurice Ruiz de Luzuriaga Gallaga on August 25, 1943) is a multi-awarded Filipino film-maker. His most significant achievement in film is "Oro, Plata, Mata", which he directed after winning a scripwriting contest sponsored by the Experimental Cinema of the Philippines. He has received an award from the International Film Festival of Flanders-Ghent, Belgium in 1983; a Special Jury Award from the Manila International Film Festival; and the 2004 Gawad CCP Para sa Sining.

Biography

Gallaga spent his elementary and high school years at De La Salle University in Manila, then finished commerce and liberal arts at the school’s Bacolod campus. He taught theater and film at the University of St. La Salle. Upon moving back to Manila, he got involved in television musicals and eventually co-directed the film Binhi with Butch Perez. He also directed the movies Virgin Forest, Scorpio Nights, Unfaithful Wife, and the "Manananggal" episode of Shake, Rattle and Roll I.

In 1986 he started co-directing films with Lore Reyes, with whom he shared directing credits for Shake Rattle & Roll 2, Shake Rattle & Roll 3, Shake Rattle & Roll 4, Baby Love, Magic Temple, and more than twenty other films to date. In the animated movie Dayo, Gallaga voiced the character of "Lolo Nano," the resident sage of Elementalia.

Haunted Forest

Haunted Forest is a horror film about a man driven by his grandfather's mysterious past, Sean (Sevy Di Cione) searches for the key to a man's sudden disappearance within a dark forest. He believes it may have a connection to the enigmatic tree that now haunts his dreams. Sean's friends (Adam Green and Edoardo Beghi), along with two young women, accompany him on his quest.
