As line break strength increases, so does line diameter and this can have a big effect on how lures are presented. Wired2Fish staffers visually demonstrate this through a simple on the water test that compares the rate of fall of the same 1/2-ounce jig and trailer. The variable is the differing 10-pound and 20-pound line (0.011'' and 0.017'' diameter respectively). The results are surprising -- a modest increase in line diameter drastically reduces fall rate.
The "so what" of this pertains to many fishing scenarios. Experienced anglers are aware that lure fall rate can have a big impact on success and fish preferences can change by the hour. Case in point, if you're fishing a bottom bait such as a football jig in deep water, it's often advantageous to use the lightest line possible -- your bait sinks faster and stays down better (smaller diameter line = less lift). Conversely, you may need the break resistance of 20-pound line over 15-pound when flipping and pitching heavy shallow cover. This may require increasing lure weight to maintain the desired fall rate. The simple takeaway is the importance of factoring line diameter along with lure weight when working to optimize a certain presentation.

Not all paddle tail swimbaits are made the same. The X Zone Swammer (shown here) has a pronounced tail thump and full body wag whereas some have a more subtle tail action without the body wag and roll. There is no "best action," rather, "best actions" for certain situations. For example, the action on this particular bait can be muted by rigging on a heavier jighead with a longer shank hook. This helps the swimbait stay down, a plus when fishing deeper water areas. It's tough to deny the seductiveness of the full body action as seen in this video however!
Paddle tail swimbaits can be rigged in a multitude of ways. The first set of shots show it rigged on a Trokar Swim Blade extra wide gap swimbait hook. This rigging style is popular for shallow water cover applications and for big fish. Jighead rigging may be the most popular and versatile overall, as these baits can be mated with a huge variety of jigs designed to present baits differently. Poppers are a favorite topwater bass fishing lure but many are scared to fish them around woody cover for fear of snagging. The Real Thing is the third studio album by the American rock band Faith No More. It was first released through Slash Records on June 20, 1989. It was the first release by the band not to feature vocalist Chuck Mosley. Instead, the album featured Mike Patton from the experimental band Mr. Bungle. On this album, Faith No More advanced their sound range combining heavy metal, funk and rock.
On March 2, 2015 a deluxe edition containing previous unreleased tracks was released via Slash Records.

Faith No More underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, We Care a Lot, released in 1985 and distributed through San Francisco-based label Mordam Records. On the original vinyl release, the band is credited as "Faith. No More" on the album's liner notes, back cover, and on the record itself. Within a year the band signed up with Slash Records. The debut album's title track "We Care a Lot" was later rerecorded, for their follow-up album Introduce Yourself in 1987, and released as their first single. Membership remained stable until vocalist Chuck Mosley was replaced by Mike Patton in 1988.

Underwater Love (Smoke City song)
"Underwater Love" is a 1997 song by the English band, Smoke City. First released in 1994, the song did not receive recognition until its appearance in a Levi's commercial, upon which it was positively received critically and charted in ten countries.
Background
The Brazilian inspired track was written by two of the band members who were admirers of 1970s funk, Santana and Gilberto Gil. The song is built upon a gentle, constant guitar strum, drums and samples, some of which are rainforest noises, others are from "Bahia Soul" by Luiz Bonfá and "The Popcorn" by James Brown. The song's writers were credited as former school friends Miranda and programmer Marc Brown. Miranda and Brown were again credited as producers together with Mike Peden and band member Chris Franck. It was first recorded in 1994, and released in 1995 via Ritas Records, the song became a hit after being used in a commercial for Levi's jeans. Prior to this, it had been featured on the Fourth & Broadway/Island compilation "The Rebirth Of Cool Six". Lead singer Nina Miranda, who was living in Brazil at the time, was asked to return to London to discuss signing the project. Miranda and Smoke City were later based in London, but their interests were in Brazil. Miranda was proud that they had success in Portugal as that country was "in the middle of what we're about". Upon release, in 1997, the song made the charts in ten countries. Underwater Love was included on the band's debut album which was titled "Flying Away".

As line break strength increases, so does line diameter and this can have a big effect on how lures are presented. Wired2Fish staffers visually demonstrate this through a simple on the water test that compares the rate of fall of the same 1/2-ounce jig and trailer. The variable is the differing 10-pound and 20-pound line (0.011'' and 0.017'' diameter respectively). The results are surprising -- a modest increase in line diameter drastically reduces fall rate.
The "so what" of this pertains to many fishing scenarios. Experienced anglers are aware that lure fall rate can have a big impact on success and fish preferences can change by the hour. Case in point, if you're fishing a bottom bait such as a football jig in deep water, it's often advantageous to use the lightest line possible -- your bait sinks faster and stays down better (smaller diameter line = less lift). Conversely, you may need the break resistance of 20-pound line over 15-pound when flipping and pitching heavy shallow cover. This may require increasing lure weight to maintain the desired fall rate. The simple takeaway is the importance of factoring line diameter along with lure weight when working to optimize a certain presentation.

As line break strength increases, so does line diameter and this can have a big effect on how lures are presented. Wired2Fish staffers visually demonstrate this through a simple on the water test that compares the rate of fall of the same 1/2-ounce jig and trailer. The variable is the differing 10-pound and 20-pound line (0.011'' and 0.017'' diameter respectively). The results are surprising -- a modest increase in line diameter drastically reduces fall rate.
The "so what" of this pertains to many fishing scenarios. Experienced anglers are aware that lure fall rate can have a big impact on success and fish preferences can change by the hour. Case in point, if you're fishing a bottom bait such as a football jig in deep water, it's often advantageous to use the lightest line possible -- your bait sinks faster and stays down better (smaller diameter line = less lift). Conversely, you may need the break resistance of 20-pound line over 15-pound when flipping and pitching heavy shallow cover. This may require increasing lure weight to maintain the desired fall rate. The simple takeaway is the importance of factoring line diameter along with lure weight when working to optimize a certain presentation.

Not all paddle tail swimbaits are made the same. The X Zone Swammer (shown here) has a pronounced tail thump and full body wag whereas some have a more subtle tail action without the body wag and roll. There is no "best action," rather, "best actions" for certain situations. For example, the action on this particular bait can be muted by rigging on a heavier jighead with a longer shank hook. This helps the swimbait stay down, a plus when fishing deeper water areas. It's tough to deny the seductiveness of the full body action as seen in this video however!
Paddle tail swimbaits can be rigged in a multitude of ways. The first set of shots show it rigged on a Trokar Swim Blade extra wide gap swimbait hook. This rigging style is popular for shallow water cover applications and for big fish. Jighead rigging may be the most popular and versatile overall, as these baits can be mated with a huge variety of jigs designed to present baits differently. They also pair well as trailers on skirted bass jigs, bladed jigs, swinging jig and spinnerbaits.

Poppers are a favorite topwater bass fishing lure but many are scared to fish them around woody cover for fear of snagging. Professional bass fisherman Ott DeFoe will tell you this is exactly where you should throw them. Big bass are tough to pull from their haunts so having a bait that imparts lots of action and noise while staying relatively in place is excellent at calling fish from cover and triggering strikes.
Ott discusses how he fishes poppers around cover and adjusts his cadence to the mood of the fish. Perhaps the most interesting element to his success was a day 3 crankbait color change that kept him on the bite. The crankbait bite fizzled the morning of day 3 promoting some smart experimentation. Rather than abandon his crankbait bite, Ike remained dedicated to the pattern. The Real Thing (Faith No More album)
The Real Thing is the third studio album by the American rock band Faith No More. It was first released through Slash Records on June 20, 1989. It was the first release by the band not to feature vocalist Chuck Mosley. Instead, the album featured Mike Patton from the experimental band Mr. Bungle. On this album, Faith No More advanced their sound range combining heavy metal, funk and rock.
On March 2, 2015 a deluxe edition containing previous unreleased tracks was released via Slash Records.
Background
Faith No More underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, We Care a Lot, released in 1985 and distributed through San Francisco-based label Mordam Records. On the original vinyl release, the band is credited as "Faith. No More" on the album's liner notes, back cover, and on the record itself. Within a year the band signed up with Slash Records. The debut album's title track "We Care a Lot" was later rerecorded, for their follow-up album Introduce Yourself in 1987, and released as their first single. Membership remained stable until vocalist Chuck Mosley was replaced by Mike Patton in 1988.
