The Town Wall dates back to the 14th century, and it’s one of Europe’s best preserved medieval fortifications. It’s really impressive. It’s real. It’s so cute and it’s so amazing. Your imagination becomes a reality. It’s awesome. Something I think really enhances the feeling of this Old Town are all the people here dressed up in medieval traditional clothes. I think it’s really cool. I just bought some roasted almonds from one of them, and they taste really nice.

After taking a ferry ride from Helsinki, Finland we arrived in Estonia where we showcase some of the top attractions and best things to do in Tallinn travel guide.
So today we find ourselves in Tallinn, Estonia. We took the ferry over from Helsinki and it was a two hour ride and now we're in a completely new country. Just like that.
If ever there was just a city just to randomly wander around it is certainly Tallinn.
And now we're in Sweden! No, just kidding. We're still in Tallinn.
So I am loving Tallinn, Estonia. I think this is actually my fifth time in Europe but this maybe my favorite city ever. It's just very medieval, very charming, really cute and the food. The feast that we had just now was amazing. That just put the city up to the very top.
So it is now nine o'clock. It is still daylight out but it is the end of our day. It's time to go catch our ferry back to Helsinki, so we are saying goodbye to Tallinn and I am very sad to be leaving. I thought it was such a great city to visit.

Having visited many airports large and small, Tallinn gets without any doubt, the best smaller airport in the world. With 18 gates, the airport serves many parts of Europe with regular flights and also charter/holiday flights. The airport has 1 runway. The new part was built in 2008 but it did serve as an airport both military and commercial since the 1930’s. The airport processes about 2,000,000 passengers a year. It has been suggested that the Quwri in Astlanda may have denoted the predecessor town of today's Tallinn.

After taking a ferry ride from Helsinki, Finland we arrived in Estonia where we showcase some of the top attractions and best things to do in Tallinn travel guide. So today we find ourselves in Tallinn, Estonia. We took the ferry over from Helsinki and it was a two hour ride and now we're in a completely new country. Just like that. If ever there was just a city just to randomly wander around it is certainly Tallinn. And now we're in Sweden! No, just kidding. We're still in Tallinn. So I am loving Tallinn, Estonia. I think this is actually my fifth time in Europe but this maybe my favorite city ever. It's just very medieval, very charming, really cute and the food. The feast that we had just now was amazing. That just put the city up to the very top. So it is now nine o'clock. It is still daylight out but it is the end of our day. It's time to go catch our ferry back to Helsinki, so we are saying goodbye to Tallinn and I am very sad to be leaving. I thought it was such a great city to visit. So today we find ourselves in Tallinn, Estonia. We took the ferry over from Helsinki and it was a two hour ride and now we're in a completely new country. Just like that. If ever there was just a city just to randomly wander around it is certainly Tallinn. And now we're in Sweden! No, just kidding. We're still in Tallinn. So I am loving Tallinn, Estonia. I think this is actually my fifth time in Europe but this maybe my favorite city ever. It's just very medieval, very charming, really cute and the food. The feast that we had just now was amazing. The Town Wall dates back to the 14th century, and it’s one of Europe’s best preserved medieval fortifications. It’s really impressive. It’s real. It’s so cute and it’s so amazing. Your imagination becomes a reality. It’s awesome. Something I think really enhances the feeling of this Old Town are all the people here dressed up in medieval traditional clothes. I think it’s really cool. I just bought some roasted almonds from one of them, and they taste really nice.

After taking a ferry ride from Helsinki, Finland we arrived in Estonia where we showcase some of the top attractions and best things to do in Tallinn travel guide.
So today we find ourselves in Tallinn, Estonia. We took the ferry over from Helsinki and it was a two hour ride and now we're in a completely new country. Just like that.
If ever there was just a city just to randomly wander around it is certainly Tallinn.
And now we're in Sweden! No, just kidding. We're still in Tallinn.
So I am loving Tallinn, Estonia. I think this is actually my fifth time in Europe but this maybe my favorite city ever. It's just very medieval, very charming, really cute and the food. The feast that we had just now was amazing. That just put the city up to the very top.
So it is now nine o'clock. It is still daylight out but it is the end of our day. It's time to go catch our ferry back to Helsinki, so we are saying goodbye to Tallinn and I am very sad to be leaving. I thought it was such a great city to visit.

"I want to get pissed. I want to fall down in the street, crawl out of bed the next day and do it all again", proclaims tourist Deane Jeeves. He's come to Estonia with the ominously named tour company 'Tallinn Piss Up' to celebrate his stag night. But the behaviour of tourists like him is angering many locals. "They are fat, drunken pigs", states one. There's concern sex tourists are fuelling Estonia's HIV epidemic, especially as many refuse to wear condoms. The country already has the highest HIV rate in the EU. Calls for prostitution to be made illegal in Estonia are growing.

The city developed as a significant centre of the Hanseatic League during the major period of activity of this great trading organization in the 13th-16th centuries.
The combination of the upper town on the high limestone hill and the lower town at its foot with many church spires forms an expressive skyline that is visible from a great distance both from land and sea.
The upper town (Toompea) with the castle and the cathedral has always been the administrative centre of the country, whereas the lower town preserves to a remarkable extent the medieval urban fabric of narrow winding streets, many of which retain their medieval names, and fine public and burgher buildings, including town wall, Town Hall, pharmacy, churches, monasteries, merchants' and craftsmen' guilds, and the domestic architecture of the merchants' houses, which have survived to a remarkable degree. The distribution of building plots survives virtually intact from the 13th-14th centuries.
The Outstanding Universal Value of the Historic Centre (Old Town) of Tallinn is demonstrated in its existence as an outstanding, exceptionally complete and well preserved example of a medieval northern European trading city that retains the salient features of this unique form of economic and social community to a remarkable degree.
Criterion (ii): The Historic Centre of Tallinn, among the most remote and powerful outposts of the colonizing activities of the Hanseatic League in the north-eastern part of Europe in the 13th-16th centuries, provided a crucible within which an international secular-ecclesiastical culture resulting from the interchange of Cistercians, Dominicans, the Teutonic Order and the traditions of the Hanseatic League, formed and was itself exported throughout northern Europe.
Criterion (iv): The town plan and the buildings within it constitute a remarkable reflection of the coexistence of the seat of feudal overlords and a Hanseatic trading centre within the shelter of a common system of walls and fortifications.

Decided to upload this film with English subtitles so that foreigners can enjoy this little gem of a movie. The subtitles are a bit rough around the edges since I made them in pretty much one sitting. A group of lonesome bachelors on a bus trip to Tallinn find partners for life. The matchmaker is not on his first journey and should be well prepared. But already on the bus, through the Swedish landscape, he meets with unforseen troubles. Once in Tallinn, and in spite of assistance from colleagues from the other side of the Baltic Sea, the naked reality takes over. -

But already on the bus, through the Swedish landscape, he meets with unforseen troubles. Once in Tallinn, and in spite of assistance from colleagues from the other side of the Baltic Sea, the naked reality takes over.

Was für eine Stadt! Tallinn ist eine, die alles auf einmal will: die nicht abwarten kann. Das Verblüffende ist, dass ihr fast alles zu gelingen scheint. Sie ist klein und groß auf einmal, hypermodern und traditionell, sie ist randvoll mit Geschichte und gleichzeitig strotzt sie vor Dynamik und Ehrgeiz. Estlands Hauptstadt Tallinn ist vielleicht die Stadt im Osten Europas, die sich am schnellsten selbst gefunden hat.
ZDF-Korrespondent Armin Coerper und sein Team haben sich faszinieren lassen von einer außergewöhnlichen Stadt und ihren Menschen.
Jaagub sieht aus wie ein typischer Tallinner: Er ist groß, blond und wirkt auf den ersten Blick sehr brav. Doch der 25-Jährige ist das, was man ein Party Animal nennt. Mit seinen Freunden veranstaltet er Partys, die manchmal erst um 5 Uhr früh beginnen. Das ZDF-Team begleitet ihn bei der Organisation der Party des Jahres. An einem geheimen Ort, irgendwo am Strand wahrscheinlich, so munkelt man, will Jaagub Tallinns Jugend zum Kochen bringen. "Die After Hour Parties", das sind Veranstaltungen, die erst frühmorgens beginnen, wenn die Clubs schon schließen, "die haben wir in Tallinn erfunden" sagt Jaagub stolz. Mittlerweile ist das ein Trend von Berlin bis New York.
Mit fünf Freunden hat Jaagub auf einem alten Fabrikgelände das Restaurant "F-hoone" aufgemacht, innerhalb weniger Wochen war das ein In-Place, ein Treffpunkt des hippen Tallinn. Das Konzept: Die Top-Köche der Stadt kochen hier zu absolut erschwinglichen Preisen. Das funktioniert, weil immer nur sehr wenige ausgewählte Gerichte auf der Karte stehen. Und so hat Jaagub schon wieder einen neuen Trend kreiert.
Vor 20 Jahren hat Tallinn sich aus den Fängen der Sowjetunion befreit, die "singende Revolution" hat Geschichte geschrieben: Mit ihren Liedern lehnten sich die Esten gegen die russischen Besatzer auf, sie sangen die geheime Nationalhymne. Bis heute ist Tallinn eine Stadt voller Musik, in den Gassen der Altstadt, in den Hinterhöfen, aber ganz besonders beim Jugendsängerfest, das alle zwei Jahre stattfindet.
Elina Kask ist 20 Jahre alt und aufgeregt: Sie wird beim Sängerfest auf der großen Bühne stehen, vor tausenden Zuschauern. Sie singt die Geschichte ihres Landes, in traditioneller Tracht in einem traditionellen estnischen Chor. Elinas Eltern sind stolz auf ihre Tochter, ein Kind der Revolution, weil sie im Jahr der Befreiung geboren ist. In diesem Jahr werden die Revolution und ihre Tochter 20 Jahre alt, und Elina singt, so wie ganz Tallinn damals sang.
Die Revolution hat auch Verlierer hervorgebracht. Fast die Hälfte der Bewohner Tallinns ist russischstämmig, ihre Familien wurden zu Sowjetzeiten hier angesiedelt. Viele von ihnen haben graue Pässe, das heißt sie sind als Bewohner Estlands keine russischen Staatsbürger, aber auch keine estnischen, weil sie den Einbürgerungstest mit estnischer Sprachprüfung nicht bestehen können. Ihr Leben findet oft abseits der schillernden Metropole statt, viele leben in Lasnamäe, einer Plattenbausiedlung. Einer von ihnen ist Vassiliij Maryschev. "Das Ende der Sowjetunion war das Schlimmste, was der Menschheit passieren konnte", sagt er: "Das Leben war vorher viel besser."
Vasiliijs Sohn Boris sieht das anders. Er lebt in einem Spannungsfeld zwischen dem russischen Erbe und dem modernen Estland. Er ist 27 Jahre alt und arbeitet bei Skype, dem Aushängeschild des estnischen Wirtschaftswunders. Skype ist ein Internetdienst, mit dem man kostenlos auf der ganzen Welt telefonieren und auch via Webkamera kommunizieren kann. Skype wurde in Estland erfunden. Noch immer ist das Entwicklungszentrum in Tallinn. Das ZDF besucht Boris an seinem Arbeitsplatz und zeigt das Herzstück der Innovation made in Tallinn.
Tallinn ist eine Stadt voller Optimismus, eine Stadt, die von ihrer Jugend geprägt wurde wie kaum eine andere. Der Deutschen Christina Jörg geht das manchmal sogar ein bisschen zu weit. Sie baut Kläranlagen in Tallinn, und als sie ihr Unternehmen gründete, sah sie sich bei der Bank Gesprächspartnern gegenüber, die gerade den Kinderschuhen entwachsen waren. "Da fragt mich einer, der gerade mal 20 ist, nach meinem Business-Plan", sagt sie kopfschüttelnd. Doch Christina kann darüber wegsehen. Für sie strahlt Tallinn Beständigkeit aus, die Stadt hat schon so viel erlebt und so vielem standgehalten.
Wenn Christina auf die Altstadt blickt, auf die Mauern der alten Hansestadt Reval, die seit dem Mittelalter maßgeblich vom Deutschorden und seinen Nachfahren geprägt wurde, dann fühlt Christina in all der Quirligkeit, dem schnellen Tempo in den engen Gassen und dem Ehrgeiz dieser Stadt auch eine tiefe Ruhe.

Entre mercados, bares, livrarias e antigas muralhas, ficamos a conhecer um pouco da história e cultura deste país que tem atraído alguns portugueses. Apesar do frio, sentimos o calor do povo e observamos de perto os sinais de modernidade que já chegaram à cidade.

João Paulo Mendonça, 25 anos, Assistente Social, natural de Tires. Conhecemos a história do João num miradouro onde podemos observar quase toda a cidade e ficamos a saber a sua opinião sobre o local. Vamos até Kostivere, uma pequena aldeia onde o nosso convidado já viveu e ainda trabalha com crianças e onde até já ensinou algumas palavras de língua portuguesa e seguimos para Magdali, onde somos recebidos por alguns colegas do João para uma refeição típica. Na Praça da Independência, com um grupo internacional de amigos do João, vamos aproveitar a noite.

Na Cidade Velha, um ponto muito turístico, visitamos as antigas muralhas e passeamos na principal praça, onde se situam os Paços do Concelho e a farmácia mais antiga da Europa. Seguimos para o Mercado de Nomme, onde fazemos algumas compras. No bar mais antigo de Tallinn encontramos com alguns amigos do nosso convidado e despedimo-nos em passeio pelas ruas da cidade.

Hunters from Outwest Farms located in Okeechobee, Florida have posted an image showing a massive, near 15-foot, 780 pound alligator they found and killed. According to CNN, the huge reptile was discovered on Saturday on one of the ponds located on a private ranch owned by Outwest Farms owner Lee Lightsey ... They were surprised when they came across this huge alligator instead ... I hate seeing a beautiful dinosaur like that killed.???? #RIP....
