Audio Push

Audio Push is an American hip hop duo from Inland Empire, California. The group consists of Oktane (Julian Browne) and Price (Larry Jacks). In 2009, the duo were signed to Interscope Records. The duo had their first hit single with "Teach Me How to Jerk".

In August 2010, Audio Push released a second single, "Up n Down", which showcases the group's softer side. On this offering, the song has much more of an R&B feel to it as the beat consists of soft piano chords blended with sporadic finger-snaps, and a simple bass line. The song was composed by Boston-based production team, Kadis and Sean. The track became available for digital download on iTunes on August 17, 2010, and the music video was released in September 2010. In November 2010, Audio Push released two singles: "It's Going Up" (ft. Soulja Boy) and "Body Rock" by Mann (ft. Audio Push), In 2012 they released via BLKDMNDS, the singles "Extras" and "Wassup" off of their mixtape Truth Be Told. In 2013, they released a mixtape Come As You Are and signed to producer Hit-Boy's Hits Since '87 record label.

Dom Kennedy

Dominic Hunn (born August 22, 1984), better known by his stage name Dom Kennedy, is an American rapper from Leimert Park, Los Angeles, California. Since 2008, Kennedy has released 5 independent mixtapes, most notably his 2010 "critically acclaimed mixtape"From the Westside with Love. His first commercial studio album From the Westside with Love II was released on iTunes June 28, 2011. Despite it being his iTunes debut, FTWSWL2 received "a top 10 spot on Hip Hop/Rap albums chart during its release week" and was Kennedy's first album associated with The OpM Company, Kennedy's self established record label. His song "My Type of Party" was ranked by Complex at #43 in the magazine's Best 50 Songs of 2012 list.

Early life

Dom Kennedy was born on August 22, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. In an interview with music media outlet IMFlashy, Kennedy describes his childhood growing up as "normal". After his parents' divorce, Kennedy moved with his mother to Leimert Park. Kennedy played baseball to get out of the inner city to stay safe and out of trouble. He also played basketball everyday from the age of five to the age of 16. Upon graduating high school, Kennedy enrolled in Santa Monica College, a two-year junior college in California, majoring in business management. In an interview with Dr. Josh Hamilton in October 2012, Dom gave his reasoning on why he entered college and what his plan B would be.

Interscope Records

Interscope Records is an American record label. It is a division of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, whose parent company is the Universal Music Group, a subsidiary of Vivendi S.A.

Interscope was founded in 1989 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Time Warner's Atlantic Records. At the time, it differed from most record companies by giving decision-making authority to its A&R staff, and allowing artists and producers complete creative control. It had its first hit records less than a year after it was founded and achieved profitability in 1993.

In 1992, Interscope acquired the exclusive rights to market and distribute the hardcore rap label Death Row. Albums by Death Row artists including 2Pac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Doggy Dogg were at the center of the mid-'90s gangsta rap controversy, and as a result, Time Warner severed ties with Interscope by selling its 50 percent stake back to Field and Iovine for $115 million in 1995. In 1996, 50% of the label was acquired by the MCA Music Entertainment Group for a reported $200 million.

Music video

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

Elite Daily

Elite Daily is an American online news platform, founded by David Arabov, Jonathon Francis, and Gerard Adams. Self-described as "Millennials' preferred platform for today’s hot issues and trending topics," their slogan is "The Voice of Generation Y." In addition to general news, the site offers feature stories and listicles in the areas of politics, social justice, sex and dating, college life, women's issues, money, sports, and humor.

History

Launched independently in February 2012, Elite Daily was purchased by DMG Media in January 2015 for an estimated $50 million.

In December 2014, Elite Daily ranked as the seventh most shared site on Facebook and the fourteenth most popular US online news entity. In more recent metrics, however, it no longer ranks in the top 25 of either category, however remains a steady feature on social sites.

Writers

Elite Daily has a full-time staff of approximately twenty in-house writers. The site also maintains an unpaid contributing program, publishing articles submitted by writers. According to Elite Daily, the site maintains over five thousand contributing writers.
