STEEL CRISIS
No guarantees on Tata steel jobs, says Cameron
Nationalisation is not the answer to Britain’s mounting steel crisis, David Cameron said this morning as he insisted the government was “doing everything it can” to help.
The prime minister warned there were “no guarantees of success” in the government’s attempt to save thousands of jobs after chairing crunch talks on Tata Steel’s decision to sell its UK business.
He said he was “not ruling anything out”, but immediately added that he did not view temporary state ownership of Tata’s UK plants as an option.
The threatened closure of the business could result in the loss of about 40,000 jobs
