The Miknasa (Berber language: Imeknasen) is a Zenata Berber tribe in Morocco and western Algeria.
The Miknasa Berbers originated in southern Ifrikiya, but migrated westwards into central Morocco and western Algeria in pre-Islamic times. The modern Moroccan city of Meknes bears witness to their presence, as does the Spanish town of Mequinenza.
After defeat by the Umayyad Arab Muslims, many of the Miknasa converted to Islam. In 711, members of the tribe took part in the conquest of the Visigoth kingdom under Tariq ibn Ziyad. They settled north of Córdoba and in the 11th century founded the Aftasid dynasty in Badajoz.
Another group of the Miknasa took part in the successful massive Berber Revolt led by Maysara Amteghri in 739-742 against the Umayyad Arabs, and managed to wipe out the Umayyad Arab presence in Morocco and Algeria. Meknasa adopted Kharijism-Islam and established the Emirate of Sijilmasa on the northern edge of the Sahara. This became very wealthy as the western end-point of the Trans-Saharan trade route with the Sudan. In alliance with the Caliphate of Córdoba, it was able to fight off the attacks of the Fatimids. However, when the Miknasa chief Al-Mutazz allied himself with the Fatimids, the Miknasa were driven out of Sijilmasa by the Maghrawa, who were allies of the Umayyads.
I left my gal in Kansas City
Left the crying in the rain
I told her that I made my mind up
I didn?t want to see her again
What makes the night so lonely
What makes the night so long
why I guess its just because I am a man
That?s done a good women wrong
I can?t eat
I can?t sleep
All I can do is cry
All I can do is cry
I told her that she was a driver
Told her that she played around
But I was just a lying man
Tryin? to hide the tracks she had found
Gonna catch my self a flier
One was Kansas City bound
I'm goin' looking for my baby
Good Lord, I hope she?s still around
I can?t eat
I can?t sleep
All I can do is cry
All I can do is cry
I can?t eat
I can?t sleep
All I can do is cry
