Love Addiction is similar to codependency.
Love addicts, like codependents hang onto relationships with others, long after they should. Love addicts are in love with the 'fantasy' that is falling in love, while codependents are stuck in dysfunctional relationships with others, and lack the emotional skills and awareness necessary to end toxic relationships.
Love addicts, like codependents lack personal boundaries. The goal is to 'enmesh' with someone, in spite of all the danger signs. Love addicts ignore the red flags, very much like many codependents do. Love addicts are those of us who obsess about others.
We live for texts, phone calls, signs of validation, and believe in love at first sight.
There is little to no appreciation for the idea that the object of our desire is one we truly know on a visceral level. NO! Love addicts attach themselves to others--eager to fulfill their fantasies about love.
Codependents often times stay in troubling relationships with others and sometimes even seek sick people out to 'take care of'. So accustomed to being invisible in relationships due to our childhood programming (we felt invisible as children or codependency and denial were modeled for us) we do not know 'how to' relate to others in a healthy way (we have never learned to relate to
SELF in a healthy way).
We can heal, but not without first diagnosing our own behavior and emotional dispositions.
Self correction is needed to help save ourselves from the destructive patterns of love addiction and codependency.

If you have grown up in a "dysfunctional
home", if you have suffered from "emotional abuse", "verbal abuse", "physical abuse" and or have been "psychologically abused" by a "narcissistic mother" or "father", then the information you gain here will help ease some of your emotional dis-ease.
If you are a 'healer" looking to gain more insight into some of the "wounded adult children" you are working with; if you are a "lightwkrker" seeking to more fully empathize with the pain bodies of your clients, you will gain tremendous insights into why your clients feel as deeply wounded as they do.
Knowing "why" people are in such painful bodies, will help you learn "how to heal" them more deeply.
