Raman Maroo is an Indian film producer. He is the Managing Director of Shemaroo Entertainment.
Vishal Bhardwaj (born 4 August 1965) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer. He is known for his works in Hindi cinema, and is the recipient of a Filmfare Award and six National Film Awards in several categories.
Bhardwaj made his debut as a music composer with the children's film Abhay (The Fearless) (1995), followed by Gulzar's Maachis (1996). For Maachis, he received the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. He then went on to compose music for films like Satya (1998) and Godmother (1999). For the latter, he garnered the National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Later on Bhardwaj made his directorial debut with the horror film Makdee (2002), for which he also composed the music. He has adapted William Shakespeare's tragedies in three of his directorial ventures: Maqbool (2003) from Macbeth, Omkara (2006) from Othello, and Haider (2014) from Hamlet; all of which received critical success. In 2009, Bhardwaj directed the caper thriller Kaminey, followed by the dark comedy 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), and the unsuccessful Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (2013).
Arshad Warsi (born 19 April 1968) is an Indian film actor, choreographer and a dancer. he made his debut in 1996 with Tere Mere Sapne which was a box office success. He is best known for his portrayal of Circuit in the comedy film "Munna Bhai M.B.B.S." (2003) and its sequel,"Lage Raho Munna Bhai" (2006). He won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role for the latter. He is also recognised for his role as Babban in Ishqiya (2010) and its sequel Dedh Ishqiya (2014), and for his role in Jolly LLB (2013). All of these films received critical acclaim.
Warsi was born into a Muslim family in Mumbai, India. His father's name was Ahmed Ali Khan. Warsi did his schooling at a boarding school, Barnes School, Deolali in Nashik district, Maharashtra. He was orphaned at the age of 14 and struggled for a living in Mumbai during his early days. He left school after 10th standard.
Financial circumstances forced Warsi to start work as a door-to-door cosmetics salesman at age 17. Later he worked in a photo lab. Meanwhile, he had a keen interest in dancing and received an offer to join Akbar Sami's Dance group in Mumbai, which started his dancing and choreographing career. He also assisted Mahesh Bhatt in Thikana (1987) and Kaash (1987).
Dedh Ishqiya is a 2014 Indian black comedy film directed by Abhishek Chaubey starring Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles. It is a sequel of Ishqiya and is produced by Raman Maroo and Vishal Bharadwaj. The film was released worldwide on 10 January 2014, with 1200 screens release in India. Commercially Dedh Ishqiya performed well both in India and worldwide.
Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and his nephew Babban (Arshad Warsi), a thief duo, pose as a Nawab and his attendant, and manage to run away with a prized necklace from a jewellery shop. In the police chase they get separated, while Khalujaan is hurt. Months later Babban traces Khalujan again, this time posing a nawab, at a poetry contest. It is a mushaira organised by Begum Para (Madhuri Dixit), the widowed Begum of Mahmudabad as per the wishes of her deceased husband. The winner would win the Begum as bride and in turn become the Nawab of Mahudabad. However, by the opening night, Babban traces Khalujaan. Soon Babban falls in love with Begum Para's assistant, Muniya (Huma Qureshi), while Khalujaan has his heart set on Begum herself.
Abhishek Chaubey (born 30 March 1977) is an Indian film director, writer and screenwriter. He directed the 2010 film, Ishqiya.
Abhishek Chaubey was born in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh to Anand Mohan Chaubey and Sheela Chaubey. He spent his early childhood and adolescence in Jamshedpur, Patna and Ranchi. He completed his tenth standard from St. Xavier's School, Ranchi in the year 1993, completed 12th from Siva Sivani Public School, Hyderabad in the year 1995, and then did his graduation in English literature from Hindu College, New Delhi in the year 1998. Moving to Mumbai, he did a course in Film & Television Production from Xavier Institute of Communications before taking a headlong plunge in the world of Hindi films.
Abhishek Chaubey started his career as an associate director and co-writer with film director, Vishal Bhardwaj, starting with Vishal's debut Makdee (2002). He went on to assist him in all his subsequent films, and most notably co-wrote Vishal's trendsetting Omkara (2006) based on Othello and Kaminey (2009).
