Unboxing and testing my new (used) Agilent/HP 34401A bench meter from Teletek23

I purchased this meter from Teletek23 eBay store. Teletek sells a lot of used test and calibration equipment, and more. http://stores.ebay.com/Teletek23?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 More about Teletek http://www.teleteklabs.com I wanted an older HP 34401A so I know its not drifting as much like some of the newer meters that will drift until the resistors and components burn and settle in. I don't have the money to be calibrating a desk meter every year for $150 to $300. Most of the meters were about the same price, but the Teletek sale I made an offer on had a 30 day warranty and return with no questions asked. The one I got also included a current calibration, and another calibration a year from now. With this I will see if any drifting is still happening. Mine also included a NIST traceable certificate, and since Teletek has been in business for 30 years I don't have to worry about being able to trace the certificate. The display was bright, it in great condition considering the age. The firmware says REV 04-01-01 so I'm guessing its at least as old from 2001, or could be 2004 depending on the date format. Ive tested everything on it since I made this video and it all works and is very accurate. When buying used test equipment from eBay its always a risk, but Teletek takes some of the worry out of the purchase ensuring that its tested first, and in some cases even calibrated. Every item they sell may not come with an extra calibration the following year, or may have a 7 day return and not a 30. It depends on the item, so read the description in the eBay ads. I decided to buy from them because unlike most users on eBay they test it fully. They don't just turn it on and say "it powers on" or "it seems to work". I even saw some 34401A for less because maybe one feature did not work like AC voltage measurement, but everything else did work. So if your looking for something a little cheaper and don't need AC voltage measuring on your bench meter then you can save some money buying one of these units. Again, be sure to read the description to ensure your getting what you want in the functionality of the meter, and not all meters come with calibrations.
