Nobby the polar bear has become the latest special addition to the animal kingdom at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The two-year-old took his first steps around his new home today (Thursday 18th Feb 2016) at the award-winning park where he joins a trio of polar pals.
Nobby is the fourth polar bear at YWP and the unique group will be a major force in supporting research and helping to raise funds and awareness aimed at protecting the vulnerable species, whose habitat is threatened by climate change.
He will share his new home with Victor, Pixel and Nissan at the 10-acre Project Polar complex, complete with pools, caves and rolling terrain that replicates the bears’ Arctic summer tundra habitat. “We are delighted to welcome Nobby to Project Polar,” said Simon Marsh, Animal Collection Manager of the park at Branton, near Doncaster.

Nissan the polar bear finds the perfect way to relax after an eventful journey with a cooling dip in one of the large lakes at Project Polar. The 22-month-old is making the most of his new home after he travelled 1,000 miles to Yorkshire from Russia with love and is settling in well at the award winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Nobby the polar bear has become the latest special addition to the animal kingdom at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The two-year-old took his first steps around his new home today (Thursday 18th Feb 2016) at the award-winning park where he joins a trio of polar pals. Nobby is the fourth polar bear at YWP and the unique group will be a major force in supporting research and helping to raise funds and awareness aimed at protecting the vulnerable species, whose habitat is threatened by climate change. He will share his new home with Victor, Pixel and Nissan at the 10-acre Project Polar complex, complete with pools, caves and rolling terrain that replicates the bears’ Arctic summer tundra habitat. “We are delighted to welcome Nobby to Project Polar,” said Simon Marsh, Animal Collection Manager of the park at Branton, near Doncaster. -

Nobby the Polar Bear Arrives at YWP
Nobby the polar bear has become the latest special addition to the animal kingdom at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The two-year-old took his first steps around his new home today (Thursday 18th Feb 2016) at the award-winning park where he joins a trio of polar pals. Nobby is the fourth polar bear at YWP and the unique group will be a major force in supporting research and helping to raise funds and awareness aimed at protecting the vulnerable species, whose habitat is threatened by climate change. Nobby the polar bear has become the latest special addition to the animal kingdom at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The two-year-old took his first steps around his new home today (Thursday 18th Feb 2016) at the award-winning park where he joins a trio of polar pals.
Nobby is the fourth polar bear at YWP and the unique group will be a major force in supporting research and helping to raise funds and awareness aimed at protecting the vulnerable species, whose habitat is threatened by climate change.
He will share his new home with Victor, Pixel and Nissan at the 10-acre Project Polar complex, complete with pools, caves and rolling terrain that replicates the bears’ Arctic summer tundra habitat. “We are delighted to welcome Nobby to Project Polar,” said Simon Marsh, Animal Collection Manager of the park at Branton, near Doncaster.

Doncaster-based Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) said it was saddened to hear the reports from Copenhagen that the animal had been euthanased ... "When news of the plan was revealed on Saturday YWP immediately contacted Copenhagen Zoo via YWP's head of hoofstock who is Danish and explained to the zoo why the Park urgently wished to speak to the zoo and requested a call to confirm the situation regarding the giraffe....

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) said it was “saddened” to hear that the animal had been killed. “YWP has a state of the art giraffe house built in 2012 with a bachelor herd of four male giraffes and the capacity to take an extra male, subject to the agreement of the European stud book keeper,” the zoo said....
