A frightening road rage attack has been caught on camera in Brisbane's south.

Video from another motorist shows a man wearing a singlet and cap jump out of a blue van and start punching and kicking the front of a silver sedan stopped behind him.

Police are investigating after footage of the incident on Blunder Road in Durack, near Forest Lake, emerged on Thursday morning.

Nine News reported the cars had been swerving around each other before one driver threw a plastic water bottle from his window.

The footage appears to show the driver of the silver car trying to get away before the blue van cuts him off and they both pull up in a right-turn lane.

Following the attack, the van driver gets back in his car and drives away.

Gary Davey saw the whole thing unfold.

"(It was) just insane, unacceptable behaviour, just intolerable in our society I believe," he told Nine News.
