The name I use in forums and such is "Rainbow Gardens".The story of Noah and the Rainbow was my inspiration for the name. At the very beginning of the video is the view of my garden from my deck. I took various shots over the past year and made it the intro to this video. Burned wood ashes (potash) is an excellent source of potassium, which is the third most important nutrient for your garden. Use burned wood, free of fuel, for your organic garden.Add ashes long before you intend to plant so it can work into the soil. Use dry ashes, before the snow and rain hits them. Leached ashes have far less potassium than unleached. BE CAREFUL..ashes also make your soil alkaline and vegetables tend to like a more nuetral to acid ph. If you add ashes, also be sure to use other additives such as lawn clippings, coffee grounds, cottonseed meal, etc. for the nitrogen (because ashes have no nitrogen). The potassium helps plants bring up nutrients and reduces watering requirements and disease.
