how to make a Bowie knife. You'll need some AEB-L stainless steel, a bandsaw with metal cutting blades, a grinder with lots of rough belts, a drill, material for the handle, epoxy, clamps and finishing compounds.
A little background on myself: I'm 17 and have been making knives for about a year and a half. I learned how to make them simply by watching a lot of youtube videos and finding tutorials online. I started with under $300 worth of tools and made and sold a few knives to be able to afford the more expensive equipment. The knives don't turn out quite as nicely with such minimal tools but you would be able to make a fully functional knife if you are resourceful.
When a customer told me he wanted a bowie knife, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show the process behind making one.

Two are dead following
the attack at an IKEA store in Vesteras, Sweden, an hour east of Stockholm.
A third
was seriously injured, according to Reuters.
"We found a man and a woman who had knife injuries and who later died of their wounds," local police said in a statement. The motive of the attack was unclear.
A 35 year-old man was seriously injured, Swedish television reported.
"He was brought in from the site of the incident with life-threatening injuries," Lena Moren, head duty nurse at Vasteras hospital, told the SVT public broadcaster.
The BBC adds that
a man is in police custody, but no motive has been established.

The result is a slightly blunt, kid-friendly tool that's whimsical, hand-forged and gorgeous. I've been wanting something that'll be useful for crafting and boxcutting--where sharpness is a must--as well as general pocketknife duties. This model from Gerber, spotted by Uncrate, looks just perfect. It's genuinely pocketable, uses replaceable razors, and doubles as a moneyclip. I love my Leatherman, and I would carry it in my pocket all the time if it didn't feel like a lead brick was trying to pants me every time I took a step. Given that gravity is, in most situations, unavoidable, I have been searching for a slim, lightweight knife I could keep in my pocket on an everyday basis.
The 22g and 34g (their weight in grams) are minimalist folding knives. Like the previously reviewed lighter but still too-heavy
Leatherman Skeletool, the Baladeos have skeletonized handles that leave just enough material to provide protection when the blade is closed. The blade itself has only a single edge so that it lays flat against the steel to prevent any accidental cuts when grabbing it in your pocket. The handle itself is designed with a surprisingly sturdy lock that I have found safe and easy to use. The only downside to the handle's design is that if you put too much pressure (read: significantly more than is required for most day-to-day activities) the lock can sometimes slip, causing the knife to unlock and shift which can be dangerous. It only happened once during my artificial tests, and when it did the blade stayed far away from my fingers.
