John Hartman (born March 18, 1950) is an American drummer who was a co-founder and original drummer of the Doobie Brothers. At the band's inception, Hartman was the sole drummer. However, in late 1971, the group added second drummer Michael Hossack, and the dual-drummers formation has persisted ever since. (Hossack was replaced in 1973 by Keith Knudsen.)
Hartman played on all of the Doobie Brothers' major hits of the 1970s with both Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald. He left early in 1979 following a promotional tour in support of the award-winning Minute by Minute album to look after Arabian horses on his California ranch.
Hartman was enticed to join twelve Doobies alumni (including drummers Hossack, Knudsen, and Hartman's own 1979 replacement Chet McCracken) for a brief benefit tour in 1987. Hartman subsequently rejoined when the band was reconstituted the following year. He played on the reunion albums Cycles (1989) and Brotherhood (1991) as well as the accompanying promotional tours. However, following a 1992 alumni reunion for the benefit of terminally ill percussionist Bobby LaKind, Hartman retired permanently from the band. In typical Doobies fashion, he was replaced by his former partner, Keith Knudsen.
John is a common English name and surname:
John may also refer to:
John Maurice Hartman (July 3, 1923 – September 15, 1983) was an American jazz singer who specialized in ballads and earned critical acclaim, though he was never widely known. He recorded a well-known collaboration with the saxophonist John Coltrane in 1963 called John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, was briefly a member of Dizzy Gillespie's group and recorded with Erroll Garner. Most of Hartman's career was spent recording solo albums.
Born in Louisiana, but raised in Chicago, Hartman began singing and playing the piano by the age of eight. He attended DuSable High School studying music under Walter Dyett before receiving a scholarship to Chicago Musical College. He sang as an Army private during World War II, but his first professional work came in September 1946 when he won a singing contest awarding him a one-week engagement with Earl Hines. Seeing potential in the singer, Hines hired him for the next year. Although Hartman’s first recordings were with Marl Young in February 1947, it was the collaboration with Hines that provided notable exposure. After the Hines orchestra broke up, Dizzy Gillespie invited Hartman to join his big band in 1948 during an eight-week tour in California. Dropped from the band about one year later, Hartman worked for a short time with pianist Erroll Garner before going solo by early 1950.

John William Coltrane, also known as "Trane" (September 23, 1926 – July 17, 1967), was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and was later at the forefront of free jazz. He led at least fifty recording sessions during his career, and appeared as a sideman on many albums by other musicians, including trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.
As his career progressed, Coltrane and his music took on an increasingly spiritual dimension. Coltrane influenced innumerable musicians, and remains one of the most significant saxophonists in music history. He received many posthumous awards and recognitions, including canonization by the African Orthodox Church as Saint John William Coltrane and a special Pulitzer Prize in 2007. His second wife was pianist Alice Coltrane and their son Ravi Coltrane is also a saxophonist.
Year 100 (C) was a leap year starting on Wednesday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Traianus and Frontinus (or, less frequently, year 853 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 100 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

We grew apart as the years went by but I think it was just because we had different paths to take. He ended up marrying his high school sweetheart whom I really didn't know well but they seem to be nothing less than a match made in heaven. Katrina is now suffering what few can understand. By proxy, those around her struggle to come to terms with the effects on their own lives and the desire to take her pain away. To Katrina, Doyle and your beautiful family, I humbly offer these two things... Prayer - The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you. On this web site, I am stating my position on the issues through the use of ethics and facts. I am convinced that facts create the basis for agreement. For one thing, facts are disarming, they serve to humble our more opinionated tendencies, and will not yield as they demand our recognition. So here, I try to concisely state the facts, believing in the transformative power of knowledge. We would be foolish not to recognize how good we have it. Theory at Yale: The Strange Case of Deconstruction in America examines the affinity between “theory” and “deconstruction” that developed in the American academy in the 1970s by way of the “Yale Critics”: Harold Bloom, Paul de Man, Geoffrey Hartman, and J. Hillis Miller, sometimes joined by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida. With this semi-fictional collective, theory became a media event, first in the academy and then in the wider print media, in and through its phantasmatic link with deconstruction and with “Yale.” The important role played by aesthetic humanism in American pedagogical discourse provides a context for understanding theory as an aesthetic scandal, and an examination of the ways in which de Man’s work challenges aesthetic pieties helps us understand why, by the 1980s,...

I've owned the first production Keneniah model from Moriah Guitarworks for 3 years now, and was finally able to get it into the hands of the man who inspired me to start playing guitar 20 years ago: Bob Hartman. Bob's the chief songwriter and founder of Petra. In fact, the Keneniah model is named after one of Bob's songs. After a recent Classic Petra show in Kernersville, I was able to tag along with John Mark Hampton, designer & builder of some of Bob's guitars from back in the 80s and 90s (along with Phil Keaggy, Kerry Livgren, Ty Tabor, and others), and Ken Hoover, to show Bob some of the new guitars that John Mark's been building. It just so happened that after the show, we were able to quickly plug into a Marshall JCM 800 that was sitting nearby, and Bob played Keneniah. He loved it...

A small tribute to the life of Staff Sergeant John L. Hartman Jr. It's s simple photo montage I've put together from his three tours in Iraq.
On March 7th, 1963 saxophonist John Coltrane and a fledgeling vocalist named Johnny Hartman went to engineer Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey to record what would become a landmark recording on epic proportions. Both Hartman and Coltrane had a history together playing with the legendary Dizzy Gillespie during the late 1940's. Upon producer Bob Thiele's request for Coltrane to record a record of standards with the vocalist, Hartman was reluctant at first because he felt that he wasn't apt to perform with the saxophonist and felt he wasn't a jazz vocalist. After a performance with Trane at Birdland, the two, along with pianist McCoy Tyner, discussed the songs that they'd record for that session. In route to the studio, Hartman heard a version of Nat "King" Cole's rec...
