The Indian Army has a regimental system, but is operationally and geographically divided into seven commands, with the basic field formation being a division. It is an all-volunteer force and comprises more than 80% of the country's active defence personnel. It is one of the largest standing armies in the world, with 1,129,900 active troops and 960,000 reserve troops. The army has embarked on an infantry modernisation programme known as Futuristic Infantry Soldier As a System (F-INSAS), and is also upgrading and acquiring new assets for its armoured, artillery and aviation branches.
Personnel
The Indian Army is a voluntary service and although a provision for military conscription exists in the Indian constitution, it has never been imposed. According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, in 2010 the army had a strength of 1,129,900 active personnel and 960,000 reserve personnel. Of those in reserve 160,000 were in the Indian Territorial Army, however only 40,000 of those regularly report for duty. This makes the Indian Army the world's largest standing volunteer army.
The ranks of the Indian Army can be found at Army ranks and insignia of India, and for the most part follow the British Army tradition.

The Pakistani forces have increased their fire power in the country's north western tribal areas in their efforts to regain control of the region.
The military says 11 fighters have been killed in their operations to clear the area from the Taliban and secure the crucial road that connects Kurram Agnecy to the rest of the country.
The road from Parachinar, the administrative distract in Kurram, has been closed off for almost three years due to a sectarian violence and increased presence of the Taliban fighters. Convoys have repeatedly been attacked and travelers have been taken hostage.
The local population in Parachinar has criticized the Pakistani army for not doing enough to ensure their safety.
As Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports, the military is making progress in regaining control of the area.

The training of the Pakistan Army encompasses threat perception and suggests progression while giving initiative and full latitude for realistic and mission oriented training at formation level while keeping the monitoring of the training at the highest level. Quest for excellence in training, therefore occupies centre stage in the gambit of peace time pursuits of an Army, as it epitomises its standards of professional efficiency and operational preparedness. Over the years, Pakistan Army has evolved an indigenous system of training, based on the role of Army, "To defend the territorial and ideological boundaries of Pakistan from external as well as internal threat".

This was such a major defeat and set back for the Indians that they never were on the offensive in 1965 war after this battle. The Indian Objective was to thrust into Pakistan In order to occupy Sialkot and then Rawalpindi Islamabad and with such huge numbers they thought they would have done this in 72 hours . As usual their mega claims were thwarted and they were shamed and maimed. Pakistani Army has thrashed them Indians in all conflicts except in 1971 on the Bangladeshi Eastern front where it was fighting an internal civil war in a province landlocked with enemy territory 1000 miles around with russian blockade on naval ports and huge indian invasion with full mutiny among the citizens of that province towards pak army.. Other wise in 1999 the indian army did not even have the balls to move an inch into Pakistani Territory. It is very good for us the Enemy Under Estimates our power !!! We are waiting for the day they invade us again... We will not only cause them humongous destruction from our tactical weapons and to back that up with our second strike from sea even in short scale war we will thrash their economy Inshallah. The shameless indians claimed they only lost 29 tanks in a failed assault of chawinda :D just like how they claim they won all wars falsely :D.This shameless nation actually believes they won all wars and denies their humiliation of 1200 years.. What a pity,,, Those who deface history ..History defaces them and that is what we will do to Bharat

Indians literally are left with 2 options only help Proxies against Pakistan and bark in the International Media or Forums…Nothing more these Poor and weak fellas can do anymore despite being militarily stronger. They are a people that can Just bark or make proxies fight for them. Their history is a good indicator these people submit to any potent aggression. They have never won a war for past 1200 hundred years history…. Their only Potent Strategy has been keeping the muslims of Subcontinent Divided… The 1971 war was also won through proxies never with front on warfare and Russian naval Blockade. Pakistan has a potent enough military to Defend Its frontiers in a conventional war with India. India knows it very well and despite having the reason in 1999 and 2002 standoff India definitely had the chance to exercise its military muscle but it dared not. Their frustration is quite evident with Pakistan…to Add insult to Injury their Kabul lead government is falling day by day to haqqanis, and Baloch Insurgency on the Ground is dead it only lives in the social media on Indian forums so that was a lot of money lost that they had put into these objectives. Rangers also tackling Karachi …..But now we see Liberation forces in Kashmir had really became potent in 2015 and giving india a bloody nose….China is also itching to give India a beating due to the fact India is a proxy for USA against China. Good Times ahead for Pakistan…

India vs Pakistan 2016 HD World War III
The Indian Army has a regimental system, but is operationally and geographically divided into seven commands, with the basic field formation being a division. It is an all-volunteer force and comprises more than 80% of the country's active defence personnel. It is one of the largest standing armies in the world, with 1,129,900 active troops and 960,000 reserve troops. The army has embarked on an infantry modernisation programme known as Futuristic Infantry Soldier As a System (F-INSAS), and is also upgrading and acquiring new assets for its armoured, artillery and aviation branches.
The primary mission of the Indian Army is to ensure national security and unity, defending the nation from external aggression and threats, and maintaining peace and security within its borders.
it has also been an active participant in numerous United Nations peacekeeping missions including the ones in Cyprus, Lebanon, Congo, Angola, Cambodia, Vietnam, Namibia, El Salvador, Liberia, Mozambique and Somalia.
The Pakistan Armed are the military forces of Pakistan. They are the seventh largest in the world in terms of active military personnel. The armed forces comprise three main inter–services branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, together with the number of paramilitary forces and the Strategic Plans Division forces Chain of command of the military is organized under the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee alongside chiefs of staff of army, navy, and the air force. All of the branches work together during operations and joint missions under the Joint Staff HQ
It is estimated that approximately 60–70% of Pakistan's military personnel are deployed along the Indo-Pakistan border. In the aftermath of the United States invasion of Afghanistan, more than 150,000 personnel were shifted towards the Tribal Areas adjacent to Afghanistan.[26] Since 2004, Pakistan's military forces have been engaged in the military efforts against al-Qaeda extremists.

It has locked the country in an enduring rivalry with India to revise the maps in Kashmir and to resist India's slow but inevitable rise. This video shows attacks on Pakistani military bases.
The fighters argue that Pakistan, through supplying America with logistics, its air field, intelligence and soldiers have allied themselves with disbelievers who fight Muslims and the religion of Islam, and have therefore become like them.
Furthermore they argue that they rule by a law derived from "disbelievers" and give it preference to "Allah's law" which they also deem as an action of apostasy.

Pakistan's Military, they are the seventh largest in the world in terms of active troops. The armed forces comprise three main branches: Army, Navy and the Air Force, together with a number of paramilitary forces and Strategic Plans Division (SPD) forces.
Since 1962, the PAF has had close military relations with the People's Republic of China, working jointly to develop the JF-17 Thunder, the K-8 Karakorum, and other weapons systems. As of 2013 China is the largest foreign supplier of military equipment to Pakistan. Both nations also cooperate on development of nuclear and space technology programs. Their armies have a schedule for organizing joint military exercises. The PAF also maintains close military relations with the United States, which gave Pakistan MNNA (Major non-NATO ally) status in 2004. Pakistan gets the bulk of its military equipment from domestic suppliers, China, and the US.
The armed forces were formed in 1947 when Pakistan became independent from the British Empire. Since then, the armed forces have played a decisive role in the modern history of Pakistan, fighting major wars with India in 1947, 1965, and 1971, and on several occasions seizing control of the Pakistani government. Border clashes with Afghanistan led to the creation of paramilitary forces to deal with civil unrest and secure border areas. In 2010, the Pakistan Armed Forces had approximately 617,000 personnel on active duty, with 513,000 in the reserves, 304,000 in the paramilitary forces, and approximately 20,000 serving in the Strategic Plans Division forces, giving a total of almost 1,451,000. The armed forces have a large pool of volunteers and as such, conscription is not, and has never been needed.
The Pakistan Armed Forces are the best organized institution in the country, and are highly respected in civil society. Since the founding of Pakistan, the military has played a key role in holding the state together, promoting a feeling of nationhood and providing a bastion of selfless service. In Addition, the Pakistan Armed Forces are the largest contributors to United Nations peacekeeping efforts, with more than 10,000 personnel deployed overseas in 2007. Other foreign deployments have consisted of Pakistani military personnel serving as military advisers in African and Arab countries. The Pakistani military has maintained combat divisions and brigade-strength presences in some of the Arab countries during the Arab-Israeli Wars, and the first Gulf War to help the Coalition, as well as the Somalian and Bosnian conflicts.

On July 28, 2014, author C. Christine Fair, Ph.D. discussed her book "Fighting to the End: The Pakistan Army's Way of War."
About the book
Since Pakistan was founded in 1947, its army has dominated the state. The military establishment has locked the country in an enduring rivalry with India, with the primary aim of wresting Kashmir from it. To that end, Pakistan initiated three wars over Kashmir--in 1947, 1965, and 1999--and failed to win any of them. Today, the army continues to prosecute this dangerous policy by employing non-state actors under the security of its ever-expanding nuclear umbrella. It has sustained a proxy war in Kashmir since 1989 using Islamist militants, as well as supporting non-Islamist insurgencies throughout India and a country-wide Islamist terror campaign that have brought the two countries to the brink of war on several occasions. In addition to these territorial revisionist goals, the Pakistani army has committed itself to resisting India's slow but inevitable rise on the global stage.
Despite Pakistan's efforts to coerce India, it has achieved only modest successes at best. Even though India vivisected Pakistan in 1971, Pakistan continues to see itself as India's equal and demands the world do the same. The dangerous methods that the army uses to enforce this self-perception have brought international opprobrium upon Pakistan and its army. And in recent years, their erstwhile proxies have turned their guns on the Pakistani state itself.
Why does the army persist in pursuing these revisionist policies that have come to imperil the very viability of the state itself, from which the army feeds? In Fighting to the End, C. Christine Fair argues that the answer lies, at least partially, in the strategic culture of the army. Through an unprecedented analysis of decades' worth of the army's own defense publications, she concludes that from the army's distorted view of history, it is victorious as long as it can resist India's purported drive for regional hegemony as well as the territorial status quo. Simply put, acquiescence means defeat. Fighting to the End convincingly shows that because the army is unlikely to abandon these preferences, Pakistan will remain a destabilizing force in world politics for the foreseeable future.

Slamming Pakistan for using "new methods" to create unrest in Jammu and Kashmir as well as spread the "arc of violence" to other areas, the Indian Army on Tuesday said it was ready for short wars which could be swiftly unleashed without much warning.
"The border remains alive and active due to the frequency of ceasefire violations and infiltration bids by our western neighbor. Recent incidents of terrorist violence are clear pointers to the attempt to extend the arc of violence to other areas," Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag said on Tuesday.
"In that context, we are acutely aware that the swift, short nature of future wars is likely to offer limited warning time. This calls for maintaining very high levels of operational preparedness at all times. This is something that has now become inherent in our operational strategy," he added, speaking at the tri-Service seminar organised as part of the 1965 war's golden jubilee celebrations.

'There was firing everywhere... Whatever it was, it was hell on earth'. This civilian had no time to hide when the army launched an attack against suspected targets. '200, 250 people were killed and houses destroyed, there was fighting and planes flying over, suddenly the planes started bombing the market'. Keen to clean up the area, the army has caused massive destruction. Its scorched earth policy is also leaving nearly half a million people homeless and angry. President Zadari's spokesman argues that this brutal approach is the only way to respond to the Taliban's guerrilla warfare: 'if we do not check them now, they might overrun the whole country...This is the price one really has to pay when you are fighting the militants and the extremists.' Despite the government's claims that the situation is improving, the enemy is gaining ground, even raiding NATO forces supply lines. Opposition leader Imran Khan believes the military campaign is counter-productive: 'This has actually been the greatest gift for the terrorists of 9/11' he warns, 'Pakistan is a country of 160 million people. A destabilised Pakistan, a radical, destabilised Pakistan is in no-one's interests'.

Mujahid El Masih, a linguist and doctor who served as an officer in the Pakistani military, claims that he is a former jihadist who has inside information about the Islamic threat in the United States. Mujahid, know as "Pastor Michael" in the U.S., makes a number of startling allegations including the suggestion that over 90% of Muslims in the United States would approve of violence to achieve Islamic aims. Pastor Michael also discusses some little-known facts about the Koran including verses that suggest martyrs are promised young boys in heaven for sexual purposes. Despite what ISIS is doing with homosexuals, Pastor Michael claims that some homosexuality is actually encouraged by the Koran. Finally, he discusses the risks to anyone like him who has converted to Christianity.

Indo-Pak War of 1965:-
Introduction:
The Indian forces intruded into Pakistani area in the Rann of Kutch in April 1965. In a sharp and short conflict, the Indian forces were ejected. Both the armies had fully mobilized, with eyeball to eyeball contact. Pakistan proposed cease-fire, India accepted. An agreement was signed: the forces disengaged. The Award by the Arbitration Tribunal vindicated Pakistan 's Position.
Past midnight on 5/6 September, without a formal declaration of war, Indian Army crossed the international border and attacked Lahore and Kasur fronts. Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force halted the attack in its tracks, inflicting heavy casualties on the aggressor. On 7 September a single Pakistan Air Force Pilot, Squadron Leader M.M. Alam, Sitara-i-Juraat, in his F-86 Sabre shot down five Indian Air Force attacking Hunter aircraft in a single sortie, an unbeaten world record "On night 6/7 September three teams of our Special Services Groups were para-dropped on Indian Air Force bases at Pathankot, Adampur and Halwara to neutralize them.
To relieve pressure on Lahore front, on night 7/8 September, after crossing two major water obstacles in a bold thrust, Pakistani armoured and mechanized formations supported by artillery and Pakistan Air Force overran area Khem Karn, 6 to 8 miles inside Indian territory. Vital Indian positions at Sulemanki and across Rajasthan and Sindh were also captured in bold, swift attacks.
On night 7/8 September, 1 Corps of Indian Army launched its main effort east of Sialkot with one armoured and three infantry divisions on our extended 15 Division front, screened only by gallant 3 Frontier Force and B Company 13 Frontier Force (Reconnaissance & Support). 24 Infantry Brigade (Brigadier A.A Malik, Hilal-i-Juraat) on the move in area Pasrur, rushed 25 Cavalry (Lieutenant Colonel Nisar Ahmad, Sitara-i-Juraat), on 8 September to delay and disrupt enemy thrusts. As soon as the presence of Indian 1 Armoured Division was confirmed, Pakistan Army rushed forward to stop the onslaught on a 30-mile front. The biggest tank battle since World War II was fought on the Chwinda front by 6 Armoured Division with under command 24 Infantry Brigade Groups and valiantly supported by 4 Corps Artillery (Brigadier A.A.K. Choudhry, Hilal-i-Juraat). The main effort of the Indian Army was blunted, inflicting heavy and troop casualties. Pakistan Air Force support helped turn the tide of the battle. Before a counter offensive by 6 Armoured Division on 22 September could be launched, Indian asked for cease-fire in the United Nations. India 's aggression against our international borders without a formal declaration of war had cost it, apart from heavy personnel, material land economic losses, 1617 sq. miles of territory as compared to 446 sq. miles of our open and undefended territory. Pakistan Army captured 20 officers, 19 Junior Commissioned Officers, and 569 Other Ranks.
