Watervliet may refer to:
Watervliet (/ˈwɔːtərvliːt/ WAW-tər-vleet or /ˈwɔːtərvəliːt/ WAW-tər-və-leet) is a city in Albany County in the U.S. state of New York. The population was 10,254 as of the 2010 census. Watervliet is north of Albany, the capital of the state, and is bordered on the north, west, and south by the town of Colonie. The city is also known as "the Arsenal City".
The explorer Henry Hudson arrived in the area of Watervliet around 1609. The area was first settled in 1643 as part of the Rensselaerswyck patroonship, under the direction of Kiliaen van Rensselaer. In 1710, Derrick van der Heyden operated a ferry from the Bleeker Farm (near 16th Street) across the Hudson River to Troy. Troops during the Revolutionary War used this ferry in 1777 on their way to Bemis Heights and Stillwater for the Battle of Saratoga. In 1786, a second ferry was started at Ferry Street (today 14th Street) over to Troy. The town of Watervliet was founded in 1788 and included all of present-day Albany County except what was in the city of Albany at the time. Because so many towns had been created from the town of Watervliet, it is regarded as the "mother of towns" in the county. In 1816, as the first post office was erected, corner of River and Ferry streets (Broadway and 14th Street), it took the name Watervliet.
The Watervliet Arsenal /ˈwɔːtərvliːt/ is an arsenal of the United States Army located in Watervliet, New York, on the west bank of the Hudson River. It is the oldest continuously active arsenal in the United States, and today produces much of the artillery for the army, as well as gun tubes for cannons, mortars, and tanks. It has been a National Historic Landmark since 1966.
The arsenal was founded in 1813 to support the War of 1812, and was designated as the Watervliet Arsenal in 1817. It occupies 142 acres (57 ha) of land, approximately 8 miles (13 km) north of Albany, New York. The location is adjacent to the Hudson River. The site contains manufacturing, administrative offices, storage areas, and a museum tracing weaponry from the 17th century through modern times. It also contains the Army's Benet Laboratories, which does product development, improvement, research, and testing.
The Arsenal has the historic Iron Building, served as the Watervliet Arsenal Museum. The museum was closed on October 1, 2013 for security reasons.
WATERVLIET -- The Watervliet City School District says one of their teachers has been arrested. Patrick Canniff, a high school science teacher and JV baseball coach, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, according to a statement posted on the district's website. They say the charges are related to "alleged misconduct with a student." According to court paperwork, Canniff is accused of sending sexual text messages to a 16-year-old. The district accepted Canniff's resignation at a special meeting of the school board on Friday. They say they are continuing to cooperate fully with law enforcement and the District Attorney's office. "Providing a safe learning environment for our students is a top priority
The police just lie and lie. This is why people don't trust them or respect them any more. First thing out of the Arsenal police officers mouth is I can not take pictures of the arsenal. Then he goes into how it is illegal. Why must they do that? How about say Hi sir how are you? Did you want to speak with Mr. John B. Synder he is the Arsenal public affairs representative. But no go right into ordering someone around and then intimidate them first. Then the city of Watervliet Police try their hand at lying. Oh and don't forget to ask me for ID. And when that doesn't work go into more intimidation tactics by calling for more police to arrive. After I walked away from them 2 more Watervliet cars drove by to meet up with the other Police. Now at the end of the video I find them all around my ...

Music: "Plaint" By Kevin MacLeod http://incompetech.com/ This is a collection of photos showing the tragic, criminal, wanton destruction of a priceless historic treasure in Watervliet, NY. Saint Patrick's Church was closed by Bishop Howard Hubbard of Albany. The aforementioned has a reputation for protecting sexual abusers, liturgical abuses and the closure of churches. The aforementioned also has business ties to Nigro Cos., the developer who bought St. Patrick's and demolished it. To justify the demolition, many lies were told to the public regarding the condition and the composition of the building, Preservationists suggested that the building had a steel-supported frame and the damage to the building's was only superficial. This turned out to be the truth, but the only thi...
