In 1973 the Smurl family moved into their new apartment in the city of West Pittston. Soon the Smurl family began to experience some bizarre paranormal activities. The TV suddenly burst into flames, paintwork was found destroyed, footsteps could be heard coming from the stairs and the radio made static sounds even though it was unplugged.
The family tried to ignore the strange activities, but as time went by the paranormal activities only got worse. Terrifying voices could sometimes be heard when no one was talking. Janet the mother could hear her name being called from the basement. Janet also once saw a huge black apparition with no face in the kitchen. It walked through the wall, and her mother-in-law Mary said she saw it appear on the other side. Neighbours also sometimes reported hearing screams coming from the apartment when the entire family was out.
One night when Janet and her husband Jack was making love, Janet was pulled out of bed and a horrifying smell appeared throughout the apartment.
The Smurl family couldn’t take it anymore and they contacted Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens soon found out that the apartment was haunted by four demons. They concluded that the demons were active due to the family's oldest daughter which was approaching puberty. The Warrens arranged a prayer session to try and coax at least one of the demons into the open. Only seconds after the they began a voice interrupted them growling “you filthy bastard, get out of this house!”. The Warrens continued and played religious music which caused the demons to shake the furnitures.
Janet was punched and Jack saw two ghosts in colonial clothing. Grunting noises like pigs were heard throughout the house. Father Robert F McKenna later came and performed an exorcism in the apartment, but this only made matters worse. The demons now began to follow the family outside the apartment and when the family anonymously appeared on local television the demons became furious. When the family came home the demons levitated Janet into the air and threw her against the wall and Jack saw a horrifying pig like creature standing on two legs.
In August 1986 the family’s story appeared in the press. Immediately the house became a tourist attraction. Apparently Ed Warren said to the press that he had videotapes of the grunting noises, and a dark shape filmed moving. But when the press asked if they could take a look at the videotapes Ed said that the Church had them which the Church denies.
The family eventually moved away in 1988, and have been said to have been untroubled by demons ever since.

Ed and Lorraine Warren discuss general principles of what to do when a ghost is seen. Ed sums this up as a process of asking in the name of God if there is some way you could help. If so, the more positive ghost will more likely seek what is wanted. While warning not to communicate too much with spirits, Ed notes that spirits sometimes are confused when they die, thus becoming earthbound, and in need of some caring help. A more evil spirit will disappear immediately if confronted in such a manner. Such was the case with the Viners. Upon buying this large, working farm, they noticed the farm hands did not like to go up to certain parts of the house; some even slept with weapons. Mrs. Viner would soon learn why. She began to hear the scene of a man running into the house and up the stairs where she would then hear two men fighting. She would also hear strange sounds and even saw shadow ghosts at times. The Viners quickly decided to move out, but wanted to clear the house of the haunting in order to sell with a good conscience.

Ed and Lorraine Warren
Edward "Ed" Warren Miney (September 7, 1926 – August 23, 2006) and Lorraine Rita Warren (née Moran, born January 31, 1927) were American paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of haunting. Edward was a World War II United States Navy veteran and former police officer who became a self-taught demonologist, author, and lecturer. His wife Lorraine is a professed clairvoyant and a light trance medium who worked closely with her husband.
In 1952, the Warrens founded the New England Society for Psychic Research, the oldest ghost hunting group in New England. They are the authors of numerous books about the paranormal and about their private investigations into various reports of paranormal activity. They claimed to have investigated over 10,000 cases during their career. The Warrens were among the very first investigators in the controversial Amityville haunting. According to the Warrens, the N.E.S.P.R. utilizes a variety of individuals, including medical doctors, researchers, police officers, nurses, college students and members of the clergy in its investigations.

Lorraine
Lorraine (French pronunciation: [lɔʁɛn]; Lorrain: Louréne; Lorraine Franconian: Lottringe; German: 
Lothringen ; Luxembourgish: Loutrengen) is a cultural and historical region in north-eastern France, now located in the administrative region of Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine. Lorraine's name stems from the medieval kingdom of Lotharingia, which in turn was named for either Emperor Lothair I or King Lothair II. It became later the Duchy of Lorraine before it was annexed to France in 1766.
From 1982 until January 2016, Lorraine was an administrative region of France, when it became part of the new region Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine. As a region in modern France, Lorraine consisted of the four departments Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle and Vosges, containing 2,337 communes. The regional prefecture was Metz, although the largest metropolitan area of Lorraine is Nancy.
Lorraine makes up nearly half of France's border with Germany, and also borders Belgium and Luxembourg. Its inhabitants are called "Lorrains" in French and number about 2,356,000.

The Conjuring
The Conjuring is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan.Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of haunting. Their reports inspired the Amityville Horror. The Warrens come to the assistance of the Perron family (Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor), who are experiencing increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse in Rhode Island in 1971.
The Conjuring was released in the United States and Canada on July 19, 2013, and in the United Kingdom and India on August 6, 2013. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed over $318 million worldwide from its $20 million budget, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time. A sequel, The Conjuring 2, is scheduled to be released on June 10, 2016.
Plot
In 1971, Roger and Carolyn Perron move into a dilapidated farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island with their five daughters Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cindy, and April. During the first day, their move goes smoothly, though their dog Sadie refuses to enter the house and one of the daughters finds a boarded up entrance to a cellar.

Soon the Smurl family began to experience some bizarre paranormal activities. The TV suddenly burst into flames, paintwork was found destroyed, footsteps could be heard coming from the stairs and the radio made static sounds even though it was unplugged. The family tried to ignore the strange activities, but as time went by the paranormal activities only got worse. Terrifying voices could sometimes be heard when no one was talking. Janet the mother could hear her name being called from the basement. Janet also once saw a huge black apparition with no face in the kitchen. It walked through the wall, and her mother-in-law Mary said she saw it appear on the other side. Neighbours also sometimes reported hearing screams coming from the apartment when the entire family was out. One night when Janet and her husband Jack was making love, Janet was pulled out of bed and a horrifying smell appeared throughout the apartment. The Smurl family couldn’t take it anymore and they contacted Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens soon found out that the apartment was haunted by four demons. They concluded that the demons were active due to the family's oldest daughter which was approaching puberty. The Warrens arranged a prayer session to try and coax at least one of the demons into the open. Only seconds after the they began a voice interrupted them growling “you filthy bastard, get out of this house!”. The Warrens continued and played religious music which caused the demons to shake the furnitures. Janet was punched and Jack saw two ghosts in colonial clothing. Grunting noises like pigs were heard throughout the house. Father Robert F McKenna later came and performed an exorcism in the apartment, but this only made matters worse. The demons now began to follow the family outside the apartment and when the family anonymously appeared on local television the demons became furious. When the family came home the demons levitated Janet into the air and threw her against the wall and Jack saw a horrifying pig like creature standing on two legs. In August 1986 the family’s story appeared in the press. Immediately the house became a tourist attraction. Apparently Ed Warren said to the press that he had videotapes of the grunting noises, and a dark shape filmed moving. But when the press asked if they could take a look at the videotapes Ed said that the Church had them which the Church denies. The family eventually moved away in 1988, and have been said to have been untroubled by demons ever since. A more evil spirit will disappear immediately if confronted in such a manner. Such was the case with the Viners. Upon buying this large, working farm, they noticed the farm hands did not like to go up to certain parts of the house; some even slept with weapons. Mrs. Viner would soon learn why. She began to hear the scene of a man running into the house and up the stairs where she would then hear two men fighting. She would also hear strange sounds and even saw shadow ghosts at times. In 1973 the Smurl family moved into their new apartment in the city of West Pittston. Soon the Smurl family began to experience some bizarre paranormal activities. The TV suddenly burst into flames, paintwork was found destroyed, footsteps could be heard coming from the stairs and the radio made static sounds even though it was unplugged.
The family tried to ignore the strange activities, but as time went by the paranormal activities only got worse. Terrifying voices could sometimes be heard when no one was talking. Janet the mother could hear her name being called from the basement. Janet also once saw a huge black apparition with no face in the kitchen. It walked through the wall, and her mother-in-law Mary said she saw it appear on the other side. Neighbours also sometimes reported hearing screams coming from the apartment when the entire family was out.
One night when Janet and her husband Jack was making love, Janet was pulled out of bed and a horrifying smell appeared throughout the apartment.
The Smurl family couldn’t take it anymore and they contacted Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens soon found out that the apartment was haunted by four demons. They concluded that the demons were active due to the family's oldest daughter which was approaching puberty. The Warrens arranged a prayer session to try and coax at least one of the demons into the open. Only seconds after the they began a voice interrupted them growling “you filthy bastard, get out of this house!”. The Warrens continued and played religious music which caused the demons to shake the furnitures.
Janet was punched and Jack saw two ghosts in colonial clothing. Grunting noises like pigs were heard throughout the house. Father Robert F McKenna later came and performed an exorcism in the apartment, but this only made matters worse. The demons now began to follow the family outside the apartment and when the family anonymously appeared on local television the demons became furious. When the family came home the demons levitated Janet into the air and threw her against the wall and Jack saw a horrifying pig like creature standing on two legs.
In August 1986 the family’s story appeared in the press. Immediately the house became a tourist attraction. Apparently Ed Warren said to the press that he had videotapes of the grunting noises, and a dark shape filmed moving. But when the press asked if they could take a look at the videotapes Ed said that the Church had them which the Church denies.
The family eventually moved away in 1988, and have been said to have been untroubled by demons ever since.

If so, the more positive ghost will more likely seek what is wanted. While warning not to communicate too much with spirits, Ed notes that spirits sometimes are confused when they die, thus becoming earthbound, and in need of some caring help. A more evil spirit will disappear immediately if confronted in such a manner. Such was the case with the Viners. Upon buying this large, working farm, they noticed the farm hands did not like to go up to certain parts of the house; some even slept with weapons. Mrs. Viner would soon learn why. She began to hear the scene of a man running into the house and up the stairs where she would then hear two men fighting. She would also hear strange sounds and even saw shadow ghosts at times. The Viners quickly decided to move out, but wanted to clear the house of the haunting in order to sell with a good conscience.

There are other items such as the piano that plays itself, African fertility dolls, and pieces of the wreckage of Flight 409. The museum also has a copy of the Book of Shadows from the middle ages, containing incantations of devils and demons.
