WHY WE
FEAR AND
DREAD THE
IRS
In this devastating expose’ of the
Internal Revenue Service, in a bold speech to the
Penn Alumni Club, author of THE TAXMAN COMETH Jim
Greenfield, discloses how thousands of ordinary
American citizens have had their businesses and lives destroyed by illegal IRS abuse of power. As reported by columnist
George Will and separately by the
New York Times, it’s now standard operating procedure for the IRS to swoop in and clear out bank accounts of American citizens who owe no back taxes, and are not charged with a crime or wrongdoing of any kind. These so-called “asset forfeitures” occur with no prior notice, no hearing, and no court order. “
The IRS just takes the money!”
Greenfield, a graduate of
Penn Law School, argues that this seizure of cash by the IRS is a flagrant violation of the
4th amendment prohibition of “unreasonable searches and seizures,” and an even more flagrant violation of the
5th amendment of the
Constitution which prohibits the government from taking “life, liberty, or property without due process of law.”
Greenfield also makes the case that imprisoning people for not paying taxes is not only unconstitutional, but a barbaric throwback to “debtors’ prisons,” which the
United States outlawed
200 years ago -- “unless you’re the IRS.” Greenfield makes the astonishing argument that if the IRS didn’t intimidate taxpayers by routinely violating our
Constitutional rights, illegally seizing property, assets, and money, and throwing people in prison, the citizenry would no longer fear and dread the IRS. In that case, we’d stop paying taxes and our bloated federal government would collapse for lack of funds.
Because a free people shouldn’t fear their government, Jim Greenfield says it’s time to abolish the IRS.
Jim’s expose’ of IRS abuse has exposed him to the risk of retaliation by this powerful government agency.
