Young Life Canada Saves Time and Quadruples Online Support with Blackbaud® NetCommunity
Young Life leaders are committed to friendships with kids -- no strings attached. Leaders spend time with them playing road hockey, going to the mall, watching a basketball game, heading to the ski hill - leaders go to where the kids are and enter their world. Young Life is all about communicating God's love to kids in terms they can understand. The organization welcomes all teenagers, both in junior and senior high, regardless of race or religious beliefs. Challenge
- Young Life Canada was looking for a database system that interacted with its website.
- The organization was using an open source content management system for its website maintenance, and although it met the organization’s needs, creating or developing an integration between the CMS system and the database would be time consuming and require additional staff to maintain
Solution
- The organization selected Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge® for its database and decided to migrate its open source content management system to Blackbaud® NetCommunity™ for the simplicity of the integration between the two applications.
- Because NetCommunity is integrated with the organization’s database of choice; Young Life no longer has to reenter donation and events data.
- Young Life also enjoys the email reporting in Blackbaud NetCommunity that enables the organization to determine who opens an email, what they clicked on, and what actions were taken as a result.
Results
- With the capabilities allowed in Blackbaud NetCommunity, Young Life plans to expand its use of the website to include the secure sharing of files across chapters, volunteers, and donors.
- Approximately 25 percent of the organization’s financial development is done through team fundraising.
- Young Life has been able to save a significant amount of money by eliminating a third-party online events management solution and transitioning to Blackbaud NetCommunity for online team fundraising.
- Since implementing Blackbaud NetCommunity, Young Life’s online donations and event registrations have quadrupled
