Turbo (film)

Turbo is a 2013 American 3D computer-animated comedy sports film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is based on an original idea by David Soren, who also directed the film. Set in Los Angeles, the film features an ordinary garden snail whose dream to become the fastest snail in the world comes true. The film was released on July 17, 2013. The film stars the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Snoop Dogg, Maya Rudolph, Michelle Rodriguez and Samuel L. Jackson.

The film was met with generally positive reviews. Despite earning $282.5 million on a $127 million budget, the studio had to take a total of $15.6 million write-down on behalf of the film. A television series based on the film, titled Turbo FAST (Fast Action Stunt Team), was put into production a year before the film's release, and it first aired on Netflix on December 24, 2013.

Plot

In a suburban San Fernando Valley garden in Los Angeles, Theo, a.k.a. Turbo, is a garden snail who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world, just like his hero, 5-time Indianapolis 500 champ, Guy Gagné. His obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an outcast in the slow and cautious snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his older brother, Chet. Turbo desperately wishes he could escape the slow-paced life he's living, but his one chance to live proves a near fatal disaster when he tries to recover a prize tomato and needs to be rescued by Chet.

Turbocharger

A turbocharger, or turbo (colloquialism), from Greek "τύρβη" ("wake"), (also from Latin "turbo" ("spinning top"),) is a turbine-driven forced induction device that increases an internal combustion engine's efficiency and power output by forcing extra air into the combustion chamber. This improvement over a naturally aspirated engine's output results because the turbine can force more air, and proportionately more fuel, into the combustion chamber than atmospheric pressure alone.

Turbochargers were originally known as turbosuperchargers when all forced induction devices were classified as superchargers. Nowadays the term "supercharger" is usually applied only to mechanically driven forced induction devices. The key difference between a turbocharger and a conventional supercharger is that a supercharger is mechanically driven by the engine, often through a belt connected to the crankshaft, whereas a turbocharger is powered by a turbine driven by the engine's exhaust gas. Compared to a mechanically driven supercharger, turbochargers tend to be more efficient, but less responsive. Twincharger refers to an engine with both a supercharger and a turbocharger.

Droid Turbo 2

The Droid Turbo 2 is a high end Android smartphone made by Motorola, available exclusively in the United States for the Verizon Droid brand. Outside of the United States, it is branded as the Moto X Force. It was released on October 27, 2015. The phone is marketed as having "the world's first shatterproof screen."

Hardware

It features a 2 gigahertz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 gigabytes of RAM, 32 or 64 gigabytes of internal storage which can be expanded up to 2 terabytes with a MicroSD card. It has a 5.4-inch AMOLED display, a 3,760mAh battery as well as support for Motorola's TurboPower and Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 both PMA and Qi wireless charging standards, and a 21-megapixel main camera flanked by a 5MP front camera with a flash.

This was the first Droid phone to be customizable through Motorola's Motomaker service, which allows customers to select various materials, frame colors, and accent colors. The service also allows users to add a custom greeting which shows up during the Droid Turbo 2's initial startup screen, and customers who choose the pebbled leather back can also get a custom engraving. The 64 GB version comes with a free "Design Refresh" which allows owners to trade in their phone for a newly designed one within a year of the original purchase date.

Droid Turbo

The Droid Turbo is a high end smartphone developed by Motorola Mobility. It is part of the Verizon Droid line, and was announced on October 28, 2014 on the Verizon Droid Does website. The Droid Turbo maintains a similar design shape to its predecessor, the Droid Maxx, with new durable ballistic nylon or metallized glass fiber reinforced with Kevlar as the materials offered. The on-screen buttons for back, home, and multitask functions were kept off-screen as capacitive soft-keys below the display.

The Droid Turbo comes with a Snapdragon 805 quad core processor clocked at 2.7 GHz, an Adreno 430 GPU, natural language processor for the phone's contextual features, and is backed by a 3,900 mAh battery. The Droid Turbo also has a 5.2 inch Quad HD display with a 565 pixels per inch pixel density at a 1440×2566 resolution.

Software

The Droid Turbo ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The Turbo also comes with Motorola's Moto app, which includes features such as Moto Voice, Moto Display, Moto Actions, and Moto Assist.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Rodney Reynolds (born October 23, 1976) is a Canadian actor and producer. He portrayed Michael Bergen on the ABC sitcom Two Guys and a Girl (1998–2001), Billy Simpson in the YTV Canadian teen soap opera Hillside (1991–93), as well as Marvel Comics characters Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity (2004) and Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and Deadpool (2016).

Reynolds has starred in films such as National Lampoon's Van Wilder (2002), The Amityville Horror (2005), Definitely, Maybe (2008), The Proposal (2009), Buried (2010), The Change-Up (2011), Safe House (2012), The Voices (2014), Mississippi Grind (2015), and Woman in Gold (2015). He also portrayed the Hal Jordan version of the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern in the film of the same name (2011).

He has made cameos in popular films such as Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), Ted (2012), and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014).

Early life

Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. His father, James Chester "Jim" Reynolds (1941–2015), was a food wholesaler, and his mother, Tammy, is a retail salesperson. He is of Irish ancestry and was raised as a Roman Catholic. The youngest of four brothers, he graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in Vancouver in 1994. He attended Kwantlen Polytechnic University, also in Vancouver, until dropping out. Two of his elder brothers work as police officers in British Columbia, one of whom is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police member.
