Josep Ferran Sorts i Muntades (baptized 14 February 1778 – died 10 July 1839) was a Spanish classical guitarist and composer. While he is best known for his guitar compositions, he also composed music for a wide range of genres, including opera, orchestra, string quartet, piano, voice, and ballet. His ballet score Cendrillon (Cinderella) received over one hundred performances. Sor's works for guitar range from pieces for beginning players to advanced players such as Variations on a Theme of Mozart. Sor's contemporaries considered him to be the best guitarist in the world, and his works for guitar have been widely played and reprinted since his death. Although modern classical guitar players usually do, Sor rarely used his ring finger or nails when playing.
As Sor's works were published in various countries, his name was translated, leading to variations in the spelling. Variations have included Joseph Fernando Macari Sors, Fernando Sor, Ferran Sor, Ferdinand Sor, and Ferdinando Sor.

Eric Charles Henderson (born January 8, 1983) is a former American football defensive end. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at Georgia Tech.
While playing for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team, Henderson set a Georgia Tech record with 59.5 tackles-for-loss (TFL), and he ranks fourth in school history in sacks (25). He had a breakout sophomore season in 2003, starting all 13 games and earning first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors with 11 sacks and 24 TFL. He earned second-team All-ACC nods as both a junior and a senior. As a senior he led the team with six sacks, despite missing four games with an ankle injury, and caused four fumbles on those sacks. He helped the Tech defense rank in the Top 25 nationally in seven categories in 2005, and he was a key performer as Tech upset No. 3 Miami Hurricanes football team, holding the Hurricanes to 30 yards rushing. In his first game back from his ankle injury in 2005, he played a key role in a 10-9 win over Clemson and was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the third time in his career. He played four seasons at Tech (2002–05), with a redshirt year in 2001. On January 21, 2006, he played in East-West Shrine Game in San Antonio, Texas.

Fernando Sor: 24 Etudes, Fernando Sor (1778–1839) wrote many studies (etudes) for classical guitar. A virtuoso performer and composer, Fernando Sor was famed in his day and well remembered today. Sor studies vary greatly in their pedegogical use, some are exercises while others shy away from the etude aspect and are simply nice compositions. Sor studies may not be remembered for their compositional genius but they do require a special classical touch to bring out the musicality of the studies. I think that is the main reason they are heavily used in guitar pedagogy If the student does not play them musically then they are too light compositionally. On the flip side, some of them are in fact excellent pedagogical exercises with very specific technical aims. Op. 29 N°13 en si bémol majeur ...

Fernando Sor (1778-1839) is known today as the "Father of the Classical Guitar." This program "Homage to Fernando Sor" is a compelling tribute to him by Emmy-Nominated guitarist and composer John Doan bringing his love of music, history and storytelling together into a dramatic recording and concert experience. John Doan tells this story through newly composed music set in the language of Sor's own music creating a unique perspective not only into Sor's life and times but into the human condition put to the test by loss, isolation, love and war. This multi-media concert invites the audience into an immersion experience through hearing Sor's music played on original instruments heard for the first time in concert along with John Doan's brilliant and inspired works performed upon the wor...

This is the very beautiful and famous SOR B Minor Study (SEGOVIA #5), arranged for two guitars by Arnaud Dumond. I heard many different versions of guitar duet, guitar and flute duet, guitar and recorder duet and all are very beautiful. I particularly like the version fo Per-Olov Kindgren's live performance in France, which was the first version I first ever heard this wondeful arrangement. This is my trial version using a mandolin and 2 guitars. I first recorded the guitar solo version and add one guitar and finally mixed with my mandolin playing on an octave higher. Those who really play the mandolin may found the sound a bit different because I use the left hand technique of the guitar and the right hand technique of Chinese zheng, a traditional 21 strings instrument to play this. Filmmaker Christopher Nupen about the film: "The title, "Andrés Segovia: The Song of Guitar", comes from a short poem by the Spanish poet, Eugenio d'Ors, "La Canción de la Guitarra", which Segovia recites in the film. "La canción del piano - es un discurso - la canción del 'cello - es una elegía - la canción de la guitarra - es una canción." (The song of the piano is a discourse. The song of the cello is an elegy. The song of the guitar - is a song). In the first film (Segovia at los Olivos), Segovia talks on camera. In the second, his voice is out of vision, except for a short statement at the beginning and he talks not about his career, but about his youth and about the spirit in which he set out on his remarkable quest - a great artist in late maturity remembering the genesis of his ex...
