Super 8 is an upcoming science fiction film written and directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, and starring Elle Fanning, AJ Michalka, and Kyle Chandler. Super 8 hits theaters on June 10th, 2011.
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
Director, Producer, Writer Steven Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for Schindler's List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Three of Spielberg's films, Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993), achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing film made at the time. He is also one of the co-founders of the DreamWorks movie studio. Some of his other block buster movies are: Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 1941, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Colour Purple, Empire of the Sun, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Always, Hook, The Lost World of Jurassic Park, Amistad, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Minority report, Catch Me if You Can, The Terminal, War of the Worlds, Munich, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. His up coming projects are: The Adventure ofTintin: Secret of the Unicorn, Real Steel, Cowboy & Aliens, Men In Black III, Lincoln, Robopocalypse and War Horse. Besides the Academy Award, Spielberg has also won following Awards and Nominations: BAFTA Award, Cannes Film Festival, Critics Choice Award, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globes, Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Hollywood Walk of Fame, NBR Award, Producers Guild of America, Primetime Emmys, Saturn Award, Writers Guild of America, and Venice Film Festival.

Die Stille der Nacht wird zerstört durch das ohrenbetäubende Bersten von Metall und der grellen Explosion des Benzintanks, gefolgt von einem rasenden Feuerball, aus dem sich mit roher Gewalt der entgleisende Zug seinen Weg bahnt. Fassungslos starren die Teenager auf die rauchenden Trümmer, als ein unheilvolles, mächtiges Pochen in einem der Waggons ihnen Angstschauer über den Rücken jagt. Was auch immer sich dort den Weg nach draußen bahnen will, hat mit menschlicher Kraft nichts zu tun. Director, Producer, Writer Steven Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for Schindler's List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Three of Spielberg's films, Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993), achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing film made at the time. He is also one of the co-founders of the DreamWorks movie studio. Super 8 is an upcoming science fiction film written and directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, and starring Elle Fanning, AJ Michalka, and Kyle Chandler. Super 8 hits theaters on June 10th, 2011.
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
Director, Producer, Writer Steven Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for Schindler's List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Three of Spielberg's films, Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993), achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing film made at the time. He is also one of the co-founders of the DreamWorks movie studio. Some of his other block buster movies are: Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 1941, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Colour Purple, Empire of the Sun, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Always, Hook, The Lost World of Jurassic Park, Amistad, A.I. In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Magenta Magic Digital Restoration of Super 8 film Prints.
This was a project I did to see how far you can go doing digital restoration of Magenta film prints . Most film prints I have seen have faded terribly in this magenta direction. What interesting is this correction was done using and automated program used during the 2K scan. Presently we are offering 2K & 4K log scans of film in all formats 8-16 & 35mm but I have been experimenting with other set-up that result in single pass , high quality scans of film material . In this application a preset for magenta fading can be use to deliver a single pass digital re-master a significant higher quality then the original. -

This was a project I did to see how far you can go doing digital restoration of Magenta film prints . Most film prints I have seen have faded terribly in this magenta direction. What interesting is this correction was done using and automated program used during the 2K scan. Presently we are offering 2K & 4K log scans of film in all formats 8-16 & 35mm but I have been experimenting with other set-up that result in single pass , high quality scans of film material . In this application a preset for magenta fading can be use to deliver a single pass digital re-master a significant higher quality then the original.

Cross over tilting cliffs and ride some platforms to reach the door to the castle. After 2 Shy Guys holding spiked maces, grab an ice melon and freeze some Cactus Plants. A yellow Bullet Bill will bounce off a wall and you must bounce off one to get the first flower. Let the Bullet Bill follow you so you can bounce off it again to get the 2nd flower with 2 Red Coins. Let a green Bullet Bill follow you and bounce off it so you can touch the checkpoint with 3 Red Coins and the 3rd flower behind a pinball flipper. Break cracked blocks and ride an arrow platform so you can find the next pipe. Ride another arrow platform by Goonie birds and you’ll find 3 Red Coins. The 4th flower is by Ravens and you’ll find the next pipe. Collect 5 Red Coins over spinning platforms and fall to a lower landing strip to use the door there. In the secret, merge into the train and ride onto the tracks. Collect 7 Red Coins and the last flower and return to the main hall. Touch the checkpoint and use an arrow ball to reach spinning platforms with Gusty flyers. Ascend by ledges of fat Goonies and you’ll find the red door. You’ll next battle Raphael the Raven on the moon. As the boss moves about, ground pound the peg when the boss is under. After each hit with the peg, the boss will speed up and create shock waves. After 3 hits with the pegs, you’ll receive a key to the last world.

This is a 25 minute video I made detailing my vintage Canon Auto Zoom 518 Super 8 film camera along with my C-8 Tele-converter lens and an unopened 1979 expired AGFACHROME Super 8 film. In this video I show and talk about the camera and add the batteries to it and demonstrate the camera's functions and the camera in operation without the film. I bought this camera along with the expired unopened film from Dapto Markets last year and the C-8 tele-converter lens I had for many years before I got this camera that suits it. The camera is as far as I know fully functional, the film winder motor works, the electronic eye level meter and auto-iris works, so it's pretty much ready to go for filming. Testing the tele-converter lens, it works nicely adding further zoom to my camera's zooming capability.
Now in the video I intended on using that expired AGFA film but I have been corresponding with nanolab movie film developers in Victoria via email and was told the film would likely be fogged from age and I get nothing, so I think I will pass for now risking paying over $50 for developing and digital transfer of that expired film should it be fogged. When I have more money to splash around I will take the risk with this expired film as there's a chance it could still work. In the meantime I will buy myself a new roll of Kodak Super 8 film, most likely their EKTACHROME 64 type http://motion.kodak.com/motion/Products/Production/Spotlight_on_Super_8/Super_8mm_Products/t7280.htm and make my very first classic style Super 8 home movie like the good old days before the camcorder ;) .

Once the main form of home movies, Super 8 was knocked away by VHS in the 1980's. A devoted group of amateurs kept it alive through the 90's and into the 2000's when professional film makers have given it new life. It seems to pop up all over the place; In music videos, television commercials, and certain types of scenes in movies. Here I take a look at the Super 8 film format, my Bell and Howell 670/XL camera, my projector, as well as films and tips.
Created in 1965 as an improvement over regular 8mm movie film, Super 8 (everything is better when it's SUPER) allowed for more of the frame to be exposed. It was the primary home movie format until VHS cameras took over in the 1980's.
Though the 80's and 90's the format retained a loyal following from amateur film makers keeping it alive in the face of video. More recently, professional film makers have taken interest in the film, leading to more Super 8 films than ever before... Unfortunately those films are mostly negative films which can't be projected. Sadly, professional film makers could be the final death of real super 8 film rather than its revival.
From the start of the format, the main film used was Kodak's Kodachrome, which featured a great picture with extremely fine grain and the longest lasting film of all time. It was unfortunately discontinued in 2005. Kodak's own Ektachrome, which came out in the 70's, became the color reversal film to be offered until it was discontinued in 2012. Now, the only "official" reversal film is a Tri-X black and white film from Kodak. The only color reversal film available is film that has been cut and re-purposed from Agfa 35mm slide film. For those willing to take the great expense of transferring everything to digital, Kodak offers many negative films at this time.
I am uncertain of the future for Super 8. I feel the amateur element (where the real love is) is being pushed away in favor of much more expensive to use negative film that is really only feasible for professionals to use. I do have a feeling though that the love for the format is such that as long as slide film in some form remains there will be those that will cut it for use with Super 8. So I think we've got some time left. It does give a timeless look that can't be reproduced in any other way, so I'm hoping the market will stay interested in this...
