My male parakeet Scuttle talking. He is a dark eyed clear and his cere is purple in good lighting. This was taken a while ago and since then he has added many phrases to his vocabulary.
Teaching your parakeet to talk is pretty simple. Male parakeets tend to speak better than females, it also helps to only have 1 so he will bond with you. Shortly after you get your parakeet begin talking to him often. Repeat a single simple phrase while sitting by his cage. Let him see your mouth as you say it. It is important to hand tame your parakeet, see my video on hand taming. Once you have your parakeet's trust and he willingly steps onto your finger hold him up close to your face and repeat the phrase. He will watch your mouth if he is interested. They like high pitch voices and can mimic them well. Spend time with him and do this often. This worked pretty fast with Scuttle and within weeks I began hearing him trying to say pretty bird while he was playing in his cage. Once they master one phrase move on to another.

I have had Happy now for 9 months. When he came to me he would not even hop on my figure. He is now at the point that he will fly to me at a distance of up to 10 feet. Happy could talk when I got him but I have been working with several new words. He doesnt do it at command but that's ok with me. Let me know your thoughts... He is a great bird and I really enjoy is company.

Parakeet
A parakeet is any one of a large number of small to medium-sized species of parrot, in multiple genera, that generally have long tail feathers. Older spellings still sometimes encountered are paroquet or paraquet.
Species
The Australian budgerigar, also known as "budgie" or English parakeet or keet, Melopsittacus undulatus, is probably the most common parakeet. It was first described by zoologists in 1891. It is the most popular species of parakeet kept as a pet in North America and Europe.
The term "grass parakeet" (or grasskeet) refers to a large number of small Australian parakeets native to grasslands such as the Neophema genus and the princess parrot. The Australian rosellas are also parakeets. Many of the smaller, long-tailed species of lories may be referred to as "lorikeets". The vernacular name ringnecked parakeet (not to be confused with the Australian ringneck) refers to a species of the Psittacula genus native to Africa and Asia that is popular as a pet and has become feral in many cities outside its natural range.

My male parakeet Scuttle talking. He is a dark eyed clear and his cere is purple in good lighting. This was taken a while ago and since then he has added many phrases to his vocabulary.

Happy could talk when I got him but I have been working with several new words. He doesnt do it at command but that's ok with me. Let me know your thoughts... He is a great bird and I really enjoy is company.

Witnesses say the NJTransit train that crashed into the Hoboken, N.J. train station during the morning commute Thursday was traveling so fast it became airborne as it hit concrete blocks and collided with the terminal roof, leaving three people reportedly dead, The Independent reported. A New Jersey Transit worker said it sounded like a bomb going off ... "It was going considerably faster than it should have been at the terminal," he said....

The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has admitted a petition submitted by a farmer from Hingni near Bor Tiger Reserve against damage to fruit crop by parakeets. Though parakeets are listed under Schedule IV of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, there is no provision for crop damage compensation by them. However, if a person selling parakeets is caught, he faces punishment under the Act....

Officials said they were alerted by K Sarath Kumar of the NGO Animal Rescuers, who noticed a woman and two men selling rose-ringed parakeets on Palakkad Road near Walayar ... They had brought 29 parakeets and sold four of them for 800 each....
