Lalmani Misra (August 11, 1924 - July 17, 1979), M.A., Ph.D., D. Mus. (Veena), M.Mus. (Vocal), B.Mus. (Sitar, Tabla), (Sahitya Ratna) Dean & Head, Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, was an eminent Indian classical musician known as much for his art as for his scholarship.

Lalmani learnt Dhruvapada (Dhrupad) Dhamar in the tradition of Pt. Shankar Bhatt and Munshi Bhrigunath Lal. He learnt Khayal singing with Ustad Mehndi Hussain Khan, a disciple of Ustad Vazir Khan of Rampur Seni Gharana. He received training in Dhruvpad, Bhajan and Tabla from Swami Pramodanand; in sitar from Shri Shukdev Roy. Under the tutelage of Ustad Amir Ali Khan he perfected several other musical instruments.

Lalmani was appointed on the post of assistant music director in Shehanshahi Recording Company, Calcutta at the age of twelve. He worked in several films for the next two years. His interaction with these two, kindled an interest for orchestration in Lalmani.

He returned to Kanpur in 1940 after his father’s death. A musical prodigy himself, he experimented with ways of imparting musical training to children, at a time and place where learning of music was shunned by the chaste and noble. He opened several “Bal Sangeet Vidyalaya” – music schools for children; modified the syllabus according to the need of learner, both formal and informal; started an orchestra society. He established the reputed institution of the region, “Bharatiya Sangeet Parishad”, and a music college – “Gandhi Sangeet Mahavidyalaya”. Excited by all things musical he persisted in experimenting and soon his innovations in technique, style, and orchestration brought him repute and regard.

Rai Anand Krishna is an art historian and museologist, who has not only helped in restoration and chronicling of Indian art but also created a breed of professional art researchers. Scholars from India and abroad have eagerly sought his evaluation of their work. His association with Bharat Kala Bhavan at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi has provided a modern outlook to the discipline of art-history in India.

Anand Krishna was born on November 12, 1925 into a venerable family of Varanasithat traced its lineage to Patani Mall whose forebears served as Diwans to Moghul courts and British East India Company. Rai Patani Mall had been granted Mansab of 5000 and control of territories in Central and Western Bihar.

While branches of the family settled at Allahabad, Patna, Rai Patani Mall chose Varanasi to settle down and set up his library there. The collection of jewels, precious objects and works of art from his library were magnanimously donated to Bharat Kala Bhavan at Banaras Hindu University.

Gopal Shankar Misra (born 1957 in Kanpur, died August 13, 1999 in Bhopal) was an Indian musician and music teacher, who played the vichitra veena.

Misra's father, Lalmani Misra, was born in the 1920s and became a singer and instrumentalist who performed dhrupad and khyal, and played the tabla, the sitar, and revived the vichitra veena in his advanced age. Lalmani Misra was a performing musician and an academic, who served as Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts at Banaras Hindu University, where he worked as a teacher and administrator, until his death in 1979.

This left the 22-year-old Gopal a challenge of work unfinished. The family eventually attained Gharana status when the third generation - Gopal and Padmaja's son and daughter, Gandharva and Shruti - began to excel at the veena. It was much later on that the Uday Shankar connection was to lead directly to this disc, when Gopal was invited to join the 1998 UK touring and Real World recording project made by State of Bengal and Ananda Shankar, Uday Shankar's son.

Monir Hossain is a First class and List A cricketer from Bangladesh. He was born on 27 January 1985 and is a left-handed batsman and slow left arm orthodox bowler He made his debut for Barisal Division in 2005/06 and played through the 2006/07 season. His only five wicket haul, 5 for 74, came against Chittagong Division. He played for Duronto Rajshahi where he finish the tournament as the most economical bowler.
