(Airport Tour #12) Here is a tour of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, a hub for which I have new respect after my trips there on August 28 and September 3, 2013. As of 2012, Charlotte's US Airways operations amount to the third largest airline hub in the U.S. (trailing only Delta's Atlanta hub and AA's DFW hub -- see http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/5482745/). US offers flights to three continents from CLT and operates in four out of the five concourses, all of which you will see in the video. (Because I was in CLT as a connecting passenger both times, you won't see the check-in and baggage claim areas.) Also of note, I found the passengers at Charlotte to be very friendly and polite. I hope you enjoy the tour!

Oh was I excited when I saw this plane pull into my gate! This was my first time flying on a proper special livery! I have flown a One World before, but I don't count that as a proper special livery. The pilots were very nice and let me take all the pics I wanted. They gave me a set of wings too. The flight was great, very long, but great! I hope to get more specials like this in the future! Anyways, Enjoy and more to come!!!

NTSB INVESTIGATING RUNWAY INCURSION AT CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a runway incursion that occurred on Friday morning at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) involving a general aviation aircraft and a regional jet airliner bound for New Bern, NC (EWN).
At about 10:17 a.m. on May 29, a PSA Airlines CRJ-200 regional jet operated as US Airways Express flight 2390, was cleared for takeoff on runway 18L. After the regional jet was into its takeoff roll, a Pilatus PC-12, a single engine turboprop aircraft, was cleared to taxi into position and hold farther down the same runway in preparation for a departure roll that was to begin at the taxiway A intersection. After the ground-based collision warning system (ASDE-X) alerted controllers to the runway incursion, the takeoff clearance for the regional jet was cancelled. The pilot of the PC-12, seeing the regional jet coming down the runway on a collision course, taxied the PC-12 to the side of the runway. The FAA reported that the regional jet stopped approximately 10 feet from the PC-12.
Visual meteorological conditions prevailed with 9 miles visibility. There were no reported injuries to any of the 42 passengers or crew of three aboard the jet, or to any of those on the PC-12.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (IATA: CLT, ICAO: KCLT, FAA LID: CLT) is a joint civil-military public international airport located in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Established in 1935 as Charlotte Municipal Airport, in 1954 the airport was renamed Douglas Municipal Airport after former Charlotte mayor Ben Elbert Douglas, Sr. The airport gained its current name in 1982 and is currently American Airlines merger partner US Airways' largest hub, with service to 175 domestic and international destinations as of 2008.[3] In 2009, it was the 9th busiest airport in the United States.[4] In 2010, Charlotte was the 6th busiest airport in the world, based on traffic movements and in 2013 it was the 23rd busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic.[5] Charlotte is the largest airport in the United States without nonstop service to Asia. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a runway incursion that occurred on Friday morning at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) involving a general aviation aircraft and a regional jet airliner bound for New Bern, NC (EWN).
At about 10:17 a.m. on May 29, a PSA Airlines CRJ-200 regional jet operated as US Airways Express flight 2390, was cleared for takeoff on runway 18L. After the regional jet was into its takeoff roll, a Pilatus PC-12, a single engine turboprop aircraft, was cleared to taxi into position and hold farther down the same runway in preparation for a departure roll that was to begin at the taxiway A intersection. After the ground-based collision warning system (ASDE-X) alerted controllers to the runway incursion, the takeoff clearance for the regional jet was cancelled. The pilot of the PC-12, seeing the regional jet coming down the runway on a collision course, taxied the PC-12 to the side of the runway. The FAA reported that the regional jet stopped approximately 10 feet from the PC-12.
Visual meteorological conditions prevailed with 9 miles visibility. There were no reported injuries to any of the 42 passengers or crew of three aboard the jet, or to any of those on the PC-12.

We parked in hourly parking deck and got to ride the new Schindler elevators. They are really nice and the nice blue lights on the parking garages give a super cool effect/

Rainy Spotting at Charlotte-Douglas Int'l Airport (KCLT)
I haven't uploaded anything in a long time so I figured that it was finally time to put this up! This was from when I went spotting in the worst weather I have EVER spotted in on April 15th, 2014. Most of this was shot either under a tarp or from the trunk of an SUV. You'll see everything from a rare Elan Express 727-200, to NC National Guard C-130Hs, to a Lufthansa A340-600 and it's special greeting / serenade! All sorts of good stuff! So come along and take a look-see at what went down on the rainiest day I have ever encountered at the airport! Also look for some special uploads coming up soon! There's gonna be lots of noise, so get your audio ready! ;)
