http://www.4x4TV.TV first aired in 2001 with coverage of the beginning events in the Extreme Rock Crawling Championships. We still have lots of that classic footage that we will be putting up just to bring a tear to your eyes for the good old days.
http://www.4x4TV.TV tested many factory four wheel drive vehicles during our early days and you can see the tests we did all categorized on our website.
http://www.4x4TV.TV projected several amazing vehicles including Elsie, our beloved FJ60 that was my family cruiser and remains in the shop to this day - and until the day they plant me in the ground. We also restored and period projected a very nice FJ40 that ended up in the hands of a friend, "Bottle-a-day Dave." Anyone ever run across Dave Yarington (a rabid cruiser enthusiast - okay 'nut') please have him contact me. We also projected a great old Cherokee named Scofield (named after my friend who bought it new and explored many backroads in it). That Cherokee also still remains in my family, now driven by my son-in-law and most likely soon to be my Grandson's daily driver. Proof that good machines never die.

We traveled a lot of cool trails around southern California as well as the infamous (in the ATV world!) Piute Trail area and of course Moab. What we love most are the scenic trails! Come with us as we take you back to the Mojave National Preserve in California and summit the New York Mountains. We drove through the night from San Francisco to arrive at our base camp extremely early, and with just a few hours sleep we started our trek to the top and back that included everything from great scenery and old mines, to an encounter with a Zen Master Squirrel. As water was at a premium we decided to change plans and instead of staying another night at the New York Mountains, we chose to resupply and spend the night in front of the Kelso Dunes. It was an awesome way to kick off our West Coast adventure. So join us, on another episode of Rigged 'N' Ready!

This month my dad and I headed out to Mojave National Preserve to do some Milky Way Time-Lapse and astrophotography. My dad and I modified a Meade goto telescope mount so that we could mount a camera on it for pan-tilting time-lapse. Now we can follow the stars as they move across the sky.
We had a blast!

About an hour and a half east of Barstow and located deep inside the Mojave National Preserve, there lies a 600 ft. mountain of sand known as the Kelso Dunes. For those of you who are willing to make the arduous climb to the top of them and be willing to do it in the middle of summer when it's sure to be the hottest out, there is a secret that the sands will reveal to you and in the form of a song. The trick is that it has to be hot... REALLY HOT - like triple digit hot and it has to of been like that for some time. Once out there, you have to climb to a crest that's over 120 ft. tall and with a slope of 30° or more. From there, all you have to do is start pushing down the crests or walk down the slope and the sand will sing for you in the notes of G, E and F and as loud as 105 decibels. It'll quite literally feel and sound as if you're standing on an enormous cello.

National preserve
National Preserve is a type of National Park Service protected area designated by the United States Congress that has characteristics normally associated with U.S. National Parks but where certain natural resource-extractive activities such as fishing, hunting, mining, and oil/gas exploration and extraction are permitted. The types of activities permitted in each national preserve varies depending on the enabling legislation of the unit.
The first national preserve in the U.S. was Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas, followed soon after by Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida, both established in 1974.
National preserves in Alaska were created by a provision of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act of 1980, allowing only regulated hunting, fishing and trapping for sport and subsistence purposes.

This month my dad and I headed out to Mojave National Preserve to do some Milky Way Time-Lapse and astrophotography. My dad and I modified a Meade goto telescope mount so that we could mount a camera on it for pan-tilting time-lapse. Now we can follow the stars as they move across the sky.

About an hour and a half east of Barstow and located deep inside the Mojave National Preserve, there lies a 600 ft. mountain of sand known as the Kelso Dunes. For those of you who are willing to make the arduous climb to the top of them and be willing to do it in the middle of summer when it's sure to be the hottest out, there is a secret that the sands will reveal to you and in the form of a song. The trick is that it has to be hot... REALLY HOT - like triple digit hot and it has to of been like that for some time. Once out there, you have to climb to a crest that's over 120 ft. tall and with a slope of 30° or more. From there, all you have to do is start pushing down the crests or walk down the slope and the sand will sing for you in the notes of G, E and F and as loud as 105 decibels. It'll quite literally feel and sound as if you're standing on an enormous cello.

Pollinator videos in shrub (Larrea tridentata) and open conditions (with and without annual plants) in the Mojave National Preserve (34.897694, -115.669073), spring 2015. iPod nanos recorded pollinator visitation to plants for approximately 1.5 hours per day, starting at 11 am.
Pollinator type, duration of pollination, and number of visitations (standardized by number of flowers and recording time) will be documented. Additionally, 15-minute in-situ observations were performed for each of these plots daily to document pollinator behaviour and visitation rate. New sites were chosen daily so that there were no repeated measures. Shrub size, shrub flower density, understory plant/flower density, average annual plant height and stigma pollen load were recorded.
