Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis (born April 3, 1944), better known as Tony Orlando, is an American show business professional, best known as the lead singer of the group Tony Orlando and Dawn in the early 1970s.
Discovered by producer Don Kirshner, Orlando had songs on the charts in 1961 when he was 16, "Halfway to Paradise" and "Bless You". Orlando then became a producer himself, and at an early age was promoted to a vice-president position at CBS Records, where he was in charge of the April-Blackwood Music division. He sang under the name "Dawn" in the 1970s, and when the songs became hits, he went on tour and the group became "Tony Orlando and Dawn". They had several songs which were major hits including "Candida", "Knock Three Times", and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree". The group hosted a variety program, "The Tony Orlando and Dawn Show" on CBS from 1974–76, and then broke up in 1978.
Orlando then continued as a solo singer, performing in Las Vegas and Branson, Missouri. Orlando has hosted the New York City portions of the MDA Labor Day Telethon on WWOR-TV since the 1980s but quit in 2011 in response to Jerry Lewis' firing from the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Tony Orlando and Dawn was an American pop music group that was popular in the 1970s. Their signature hits include "Candida", "Knock Three Times", "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree", and "He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)".
Tony Orlando was born Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis on 3 April 1944. After almost a decade of singing and with only three Top 40 hits, two in 1961 and another in 1969 as the lead singer for the studio group Wind, he had not had any further successes. He stopped singing entirely, and by 1970 he was a retired demo singer. He began publishing music for April-Blackwood Music, a division of Columbia Records, instead.
Then Orlando received "Candida," a song that other producers and singers had turned down. Orlando was not able to originally lend his name to the song, as he was working for April-Blackwood, and recording under his own name would be a professional conflict of interest. After an insistence by producer Hank Medress that he dub his voice over the male vocals on the original track, the single was released on Bell Records as being performed by the band "Dawn", to protect his position.

Sound of a Woman is the major label debut studio album by Canadian recording artist Kiesza. It is her second album after her 2008 self-titled independent release and her first full-length international debut. It was released on 17 October 2014.
In February 2014 Kiesza released the video for her new single "Hideaway" through the indie label Lokal Legend.Idolator considered it unique, for having a single take through the entire video, as Kiesza walked and danced through the streets of Brooklyn. John Gentile of Rolling Stone called the style "impressive". Kiesza reported to Rolling Stone that she had trouble making the video, partly because she broke a rib just before filming, and "couldn't move for an entire month afterward." It was premiered by Annie Mac on her Mac's Special Delivery segment on BBC Radio 1. "Hideaway" debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart issued for April 26, 2014.
Shortly after "Hideaway" charted, Kiesza released a new video for her cover of Haddaway's song "What Is Love". Mike Bell of the Calgary Herald referred to her version of the song as a "jaw-droppingly gorgeous cover of Haddaway's 1993 dance smash What Is Love?" She did a slowed down version, with a video showing her and others, slowly revealed to be without clothes, to express "raw emotions".

Jerald Daemyon - For The Love In Your Eyes - From The Album: Thinking About You. Once thought of strictly as a classical instrument best suited to small chamber groups or large orchestras, the violin has seen an evolution in recent years, becoming a formidable lead voice in both traditional and contemporary jazz as well as world music. The redefining of its distinctive capabilities, however, can only proceed with the emergence of young innovators willing to expand on musical history and incorporate modern ideas, fusing past and present in a creative synthesis of styles to achieve a vibe that's wholly original. Jerald Daemyon is intent on doing just that. On his potpourri of hip-hop, funk, worldbeat, and jazz debut Thinking About You, the 26-year-old Detroit native draws upon masters like J...

I have a ton of them in storage and will be converting them to digital this year to put into my MP3 player. If you’re interested in having one of your favorite compilation albums (for a $3.00 Digital set up fee) restored for MP3, with original artwork, send me an email at b_hixson@hotmail.com. I can’t post all of them to youtube because of the licensing laws. 1) It’s A Miracle – Barry Manilow 2) Sad Sweet Dreamer – Sweet Sensation 3) Get Down, Get Down – Joe Simon 4) My Eyes Adore You – Frankie Valli 5) Shame, Shame, Shame – Shirley & CO. 6) Do Your Thing – Isaac Hayes 7) Laughter In The Rain – Neil Sedaka 8) Misty – Ray Stevens 9) Get Dancin’ – Disco Tex & The Sex-O-Letters 10...

"Stoa" is a documentary film that follows the travels of Wes Davis, a small-town Christian Pastor from Kansas, as he travels the world running a non-profit world outreach organization dedicated to bringing free medical care, eye-care, purified water and leadership training to the most impoverished nations & people on Earth. Following his organization Stoa Ministries to Nairobi, Kenya and Gonaives, Haiti, we travel along with Wes and a team of volunteers that have dedicated their time & energy to serve people in foreign countries voluntarily just as Jesus Christ did. "Stoa" is the Greek work for porch, which in ancient times was the place outside the temple where the "secular" people could have open dialogue with the people allowed inside the temple that were considered "sacred" about relig...

Between 2008 and 2010, Evancho entered several talent competitions; made singing appearances, mostly in Pennsylvania (including singing the U.S. national anthem at a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game); issued an independent album, Prelude to a Dream; and attracted interest on YouTube. Evancho impressed composers Tim Janis and David Foster, each of whom included her in his concerts beginning in 2009. Later in 2010, at the age of ten, she gained wider popularity with her performances in the fifth season ...

Halfway To Paradise
- Artist: Tony Orlando (from his solo pre-Dwan career)
- peak Billboard position # 39 in 1961
- later charted by Bobby Vinton at # 23 in 1968
- Words and Music by Carole King and Gerry Goffin
I want to be your lover
But your friend is all I've stayed
I'm only halfway to paradise
So near, yet so far away
I long for your lips to kiss my lips
But just when I think they may
You lead me halfway to paradise
So near, yet so far away, mmm
Bein' close to you is almost heaven (heaven)
But seein' you can do just so much
It hurts me so to know your heart's a treasure (treasure)
And that my heart is forbidden to touch, so
Put your sweet lips close to my lips
And tell me that's where they're gonna stay
Don't lead me halfway to paradise
Mmm, so near, yet so far away
Oh, uh, oh so near, yet so far away
FADE
Yeah, yeah so near, yet so far away
