Albert Hammond (born 18 May 1944, London, England) is a Gibraltarian-British singer, songwriter and music producer. He also wrote songs for others with frequent collaborator Mike Hazlewood. These include "Little Arrows" for Leapy Lee, "Make Me An Island" (1969) and "You're Such a Good Looking Woman" (1970) for Joe Dolan (which Hammond himself re-recorded in 1979, in a Spanish disco-style version), "Gimme Dat Ding" for The Pipkins in 1970 (itself a cover from the Freddie and the Dreamers album, Oliver in the Overworld), "Good Morning Freedom" for Blue Mink, "Freedom Come, Freedom Go" for The Fortunes in 1971 and "The Air That I Breathe" which was a hit for The Hollies in 1974. In 1971. Hammond also found time to sing on Michael Chapman's fourth album, Wrecked Again, and worked briefly with The Magic Lanterns on recordings of his and Hazlewood's songs and other material.
He later moved to the United States, where he continued his professional career as a musician. He is known for his hits of the 1970s, released on Columbia subsidiary Mums Records, such as:
1. "It Never Rains in Southern California"
2. "The Free Electric Band" (the only single of his to chart in the UK)
3. "I Don't Wanna Die in an Air Disaster"
4. "I'm a Train"
5. "Down by the River"
"It Never Rains in Southern California" reached number five in the American Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a million-seller around the world, the first in a string of eight charting singles that Hammond enjoyed over the next five years. The accompanying album also introduced "Down by the River" and "If You Gotta Break Another Heart" — which was recorded by Cass Elliot in a slightly rewritten version — and "The Air That I Breathe." The latter was Hammond's favorite song on the album, and it was later to become the last major international hit by The Hollies (and that group's last significant U.S. single for more than a decade). Meanwhile, Hammond's follow-up album, The Free Electric Band (its title track salvaged from the unproduced musical), was nearly as impressive musically as its predecessor, although it sold far fewer copies without a huge hit to drive its sales.

Born Harvey Williamm Mason, February 22, 1947 in Atlantic City (New Jersey), Harvey Mason is an American jazz drummer, record producer, and member of the band Fourplay.
He has worked with many jazz and jazz fusion artists, including Bob James, Chick Corea, the Brecker Brothers, Chuck Loeb, Nathan East, Lee Ritenour, Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and almost all the Mizell Brothers productions with Donald Byrd, Johnny Hammond, Bobbi Humphrey, and Gary Bartz. He is featured on George Benson's multi-platinum-selling breakthrough jazz to pop crossover album of 1976, Breezin'.
Mason attended Berklee and graduated from the New England Conservatory. Early gigs included four months with Erroll Garner in 1970 and a year with George Shearing from 1970-1971. Soon after leaving Shearing, Mason moved to Los Angeles and quickly became established in the studios, working in films and television.
Starting in 1975, Mason began recording albums as a leader, the first five for Arista Records, which he also produced hiring the cream of the crop of primarily West Coast-based musicians and singers from the jazz, rock, pop, R&B; and recording session scenes. In 1979, he had a hit single in dance clubs with "Groovin' You," the title track of his fourth album.
He played with Herbie Hancock's Headhunters in 1973, Gerry Mulligan for a 1974 Carnegie Hall concert, Freddie Hubbard, Grover Washington, Jr. (appearing on Mister Magic), Lee Ritenour, Victor Feldman, George Benson (playing drums on "This Masquerade"), and Bob James, among many others.
Throughout his career, Harvey Mason has been a busy studio musician and a highly versatile drummer able to excel in many different situations. In addition to his anonymous work through the years, Mason has often been part of the jazz world. In 1998, Mason paid tribute to Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in some local Los Angeles club gigs. The early 2000s found Mason continuing with his steady session work, as well as releasing two solo albums with 2003's Trios and 2004's With All My Heart. Dawn
Dawn (from an Old English verb dagian "to become day") is the time that marks, depending on the specific usage, the beginning of the twilight before sunrise, the period of the pre-sunrise twilight or the time of sunrise. When identified as the beginning of or the period of twilight, it is recognized by the presence of weak sunlight, while the Sun itself is still below the horizon.
Types of dawn
Different definitions exist for the start of dawn. The difference between these definitions is the amount of sunlight that must be present. This can be correlated with the angular distance of the centre of the Sun (degrees) below the horizon, in the morning:
Dawn of astronomical twilight
Astronomical twilight begins at the moment after which the sky is no longer completely dark. This occurs when the Sun is 18 degrees below the horizon in the morning. Though it is possible to localize the direction of the Sun during astronomical dawn and dusk, people in general experience astronomical dawn and dusk as night, even without clouds. The zenith is dark and more than just the brightest stars can be seen (except low above the horizon in the direction of the sun).

From Copenhagen, Denmark, The Sonic Dawn play a late 60s/early 70's influenced brand of Psychedelic Blues. Sweet soul and classic Psychedelic methods pervade Perception, The Sonic Dawn’s debut album, and the Copenhagen trio of guitarist/vocalist Emil Bureau, bassist Neil Bird and drummer Jonas Waaben find an easy, spacious flow through songs that, despite being relatively straightforward, retain an expansive feel. Shades of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors make themselves felt early on, but Bureau’s voice shifts smoothly into and out of falsetto and the tonally The Sonic Dawn seem immediately in search of their own identity. The album kicks off with An Easy Heart To Break, a classic 70's influenced Blues Rock number that brings to mind a cool grooving and tastefully melodic Cream, but also has a trippy drifting Psychedelic instrumental break. Lonely Parade features spirited and still Bluesy Psychedelic swing with soulful vocals and an awesomely trippy finale. All The Ghosts I Know cranks out Psychedelically soulful Funk-Blues with a spiritually uplifting kick and periods of tranquilly spacey drift. And Black Cat Women drinks from the waters of the Mississippi Delta. The Mustang is a high energy slab of 60s Freakbeat and Soul with a detour into Indian inspired sitar drenched Psych. Lots happening in a mere four minutes! Wild At Heart is a thematic roller coaster ride that juxta-flitters between 60s B-Western flick soundtrack, swinging boogie-woogie Psych-Blues Rock and heavy jamming spaced out Psychedelic-Soul. Watching Dust Fall has a flowing atmospheric vibe that accompanies this spacey Psych-Blues rocker, and if this were released in the late 60s would have been my hands down pick for a single. It’s totally trippy and has a catchy flowing melody which in that era would have meant Pop potential. And Fading Soul retains the band’s Blues-Rock core but uses that as the foundation for an emotive singer-songwriter crooner with a Prog-like compositional flair. Buy this album. Neo-psychedelic music of this quality is rare, and The Sonic Dawn really cashes in on the nostalgia from the mid 1960s on this one. Sometimes I'm reminded of The Doors, other times Jimi Hendrix, etc. All this record needs is scratchy vinyl sound effects to fit squarely within the era it honors. Excellent stuff! 1. The song reached number-one in the U.S. for one week in April 1974 and stayed in the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 18 weeks. The track also topped charts in Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Hammond's follow-up album, The Free Electric Band (its title track salvaged from the unproduced musical), was nearly as impressive musically as its predecessor, although it sold far fewer copies without a huge hit to drive its sales.

Born Harvey Williamm Mason, February 22, 1947 in Atlantic City (New Jersey), Harvey Mason is an American jazz drummer, record producer, and member of the band Fourplay.
He has worked with many jazz and jazz fusion artists, including Bob James, Chick Corea, the Brecker Brothers, Chuck Loeb, Nathan East, Lee Ritenour, Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and almost all the Mizell Brothers productions with Donald Byrd, Johnny Hammond, Bobbi Humphrey, and Gary Bartz. He is featured on George Benson's multi-platinum-selling breakthrough jazz to pop crossover album of 1976, Breezin'.
Mason attended Berklee and graduated from the New England Conservatory. Early gigs included four months with Erroll Garner in 1970 and a year with George Shearing from 1970-1971. Soon after leaving Shearing, Mason moved to Los Angeles and quickly became established in the studios, working in films and television.
Starting in 1975, Mason began recording albums as a leader, the first five for Arista Records, which he also produced hiring the cream of the crop of primarily West Coast-based musicians and singers from the jazz, rock, pop, R&B; and recording session scenes. In 1979, he had a hit single in dance clubs with "Groovin' You," the title track of his fourth album.
He played with Herbie Hancock's Headhunters in 1973, Gerry Mulligan for a 1974 Carnegie Hall concert, Freddie Hubbard, Grover Washington, Jr. (appearing on Mister Magic), Lee Ritenour, Victor Feldman, George Benson (playing drums on "This Masquerade"), and Bob James, among many others.
Throughout his career, Harvey Mason has been a busy studio musician and a highly versatile drummer able to excel in many different situations. In addition to his anonymous work through the years, Mason has often been part of the jazz world. In 1998, Mason paid tribute to Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in some local Los Angeles club gigs. The early 2000s found Mason continuing with his steady session work, as well as releasing two solo albums with 2003's Trios and 2004's With All My Heart. Sweet soul and classic Psychedelic methods pervade Perception, The Sonic Dawn’s debut album, and the Copenhagen trio of guitarist/vocalist Emil Bureau, bassist Neil Bird and drummer Jonas Waaben find an easy, spacious flow through songs that, despite being relatively straightforward, retain an expansive feel. Shades of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors make themselves felt early on, but Bureau’s voice shifts smoothly into and out of falsetto and the tonally The Sonic Dawn seem immediately in search of their own identity.
The album kicks off with An Easy Heart To Break, a classic 70's influenced Blues Rock number that brings to mind a cool grooving and tastefully melodic Cream, but also has a trippy drifting Psychedelic instrumental break. Lonely Parade features spirited and still Bluesy Psychedelic swing with soulful vocals and an awesomely trippy finale. All The Ghosts I Know cranks out Psychedelically soulful Funk-Blues with a spiritually uplifting kick and periods of tranquilly spacey drift. And Black Cat Women drinks from the waters of the Mississippi Delta.
The Mustang is a high energy slab of 60s Freakbeat and Soul with a detour into Indian inspired sitar drenched Psych. Lots happening in a mere four minutes! Wild At Heart is a thematic roller coaster ride that juxta-flitters between 60s B-Western flick soundtrack, swinging boogie-woogie Psych-Blues Rock and heavy jamming spaced out Psychedelic-Soul. Watching Dust Fall has a flowing atmospheric vibe that accompanies this spacey Psych-Blues rocker, and if this were released in the late 60s would have been my hands down pick for a single. It’s totally trippy and has a catchy flowing melody which in that era would have meant Pop potential. And Fading Soul retains the band’s Blues-Rock core but uses that as the foundation for an emotive singer-songwriter crooner with a Prog-like compositional flair.
Buy this album. Neo-psychedelic music of this quality is rare, and The Sonic Dawn really cashes in on the nostalgia from the mid 1960s on this one. Sometimes I'm reminded of The Doors, other times Jimi Hendrix, etc. All this record needs is scratchy vinyl sound effects to fit squarely within the era it honors. Excellent stuff!

Thomas' song in 1973, but based its rendition of the song on a 1971 version released by British pop eccentric Jonathan King, which created the "ooga-chaka ooga-chaka" introduction. Blue Swede released "Hooked on a Feeling" in Sweden in May 1973 and in the United States in February 1974. The song reached number-one in the U.S. for one week in April 1974 and stayed in the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 18 weeks. The track also topped charts in Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Albert Hammond (born 18 May 1944, London, England) is a Gibraltarian-British singer, songwriter and music producer. He also wrote songs for others with frequent collaborator Mike Hazlewood. These include "Little Arrows" for Leapy Lee, "Make Me An Island" (1969) and "You're Such a Good Looking Woman" (1970) for Joe Dolan (which Hammond himself re-recorded in 1979, in a Spanish disco-style version), "Gimme Dat Ding" for The Pipkins in 1970 (itself a cover from the Freddie and the Dreamers album, Oliver in the Overworld), "Good Morning Freedom" for Blue Mink, "Freedom Come, Freedom Go" for The Fortunes in 1971 and "The Air That I Breathe" which was a hit for The Hollies in 1974. In 1971. Hammond also found time to sing on Michael Chapman's fourth album, Wrecked Again, and worked briefly with The Magic Lanterns on recordings of his and Hazlewood's songs and other material.
He later moved to the United States, where he continued his professional career as a musician. He is known for his hits of the 1970s, released on Columbia subsidiary Mums Records, such as:

The accompanying album also introduced "Down by the River" and "If You Gotta Break Another Heart" — which was recorded by Cass Elliot in a slightly rewritten version — and "The Air That I Breathe." The latter was Hammond's favorite song on the album, and it was later to become the last major international hit by The Hollies (and that group's last significant U.S. single for more than a decade). Meanwhile, Hammond's follow-up album, The Free Electric Band (its title track salvaged from the unproduced musical), was nearly as impressive musically as its predecessor, although it sold far fewer copies without a huge hit to drive its sales.

Born Harvey Williamm Mason, February 22, 1947 in Atlantic City (New Jersey), Harvey Mason is an American jazz drummer, record producer, and member of the band Fourplay.
He has worked with many jazz and jazz fusion artists, including Bob James, Chick Corea, the Brecker Brothers, Chuck Loeb, Nathan East, Lee Ritenour, Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and almost all the Mizell Brothers productions with Donald Byrd, Johnny Hammond, Bobbi Humphrey, and Gary Bartz. He is featured on George Benson's multi-platinum-selling breakthrough jazz to pop crossover album of 1976, Breezin'.
Mason attended Berklee and graduated from the New England Conservatory. Early gigs included four months with Erroll Garner in 1970 and a year with George Shearing from 1970-1971. Soon after leaving Shearing, Mason moved to Los Angeles and quickly became established in the studios, working in films and television.
Starting in 1975, Mason began recording albums as a leader, the first five for Arista Records, which he also produced hiring the cream of the crop of primarily West Coast-based musicians and singers from the jazz, rock, pop, R&B; and recording session scenes. In 1979, he had a hit single in dance clubs with "Groovin' You," the title track of his fourth album.
He played with Herbie Hancock's Headhunters in 1973, Gerry Mulligan for a 1974 Carnegie Hall concert, Freddie Hubbard, Grover Washington, Jr. (appearing on Mister Magic), Lee Ritenour, Victor Feldman, George Benson (playing drums on "This Masquerade"), and Bob James, among many others.
Throughout his career, Harvey Mason has been a busy studio musician and a highly versatile drummer able to excel in many different situations. In addition to his anonymous work through the years, Mason has often been part of the jazz world. In 1998, Mason paid tribute to Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in some local Los Angeles club gigs. The early 2000s found Mason continuing with his steady session work, as well as releasing two solo albums with 2003's Trios and 2004's With All My Heart. From Copenhagen, Denmark, The Sonic Dawn play a late 60s/early 70's influenced brand of Psychedelic Blues. Sweet soul and classic Psychedelic methods pervade Perception, The Sonic Dawn’s debut album, and the Copenhagen trio of guitarist/vocalist Emil Bureau, bassist Neil Bird and drummer Jonas Waaben find an easy, spacious flow through songs that, despite being relatively straightforward, retain an expansive feel. Shades of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors make themselves felt early on, but Bureau’s voice shifts smoothly into and out of falsetto and the tonally The Sonic Dawn seem immediately in search of their own identity.
The album kicks off with An Easy Heart To Break, a classic 70's influenced Blues Rock number that brings to mind a cool grooving and tastefully melodic Cream, but also has a trippy drifting Psychedelic instrumental break. Lonely Parade features spirited and still Bluesy Psychedelic swing with soulful vocals and an awesomely trippy finale. All The Ghosts I Know cranks out Psychedelically soulful Funk-Blues with a spiritually uplifting kick and periods of tranquilly spacey drift. And Black Cat Women drinks from the waters of the Mississippi Delta.
The Mustang is a high energy slab of 60s Freakbeat and Soul with a detour into Indian inspired sitar drenched Psych. Lots happening in a mere four minutes! Wild At Heart is a thematic roller coaster ride that juxta-flitters between 60s B-Western flick soundtrack, swinging boogie-woogie Psych-Blues Rock and heavy jamming spaced out Psychedelic-Soul. Watching Dust Fall has a flowing atmospheric vibe that accompanies this spacey Psych-Blues rocker, and if this were released in the late 60s would have been my hands down pick for a single. It’s totally trippy and has a catchy flowing melody which in that era would have meant Pop potential. And Fading Soul retains the band’s Blues-Rock core but uses that as the foundation for an emotive singer-songwriter crooner with a Prog-like compositional flair.
Buy this album. Neo-psychedelic music of this quality is rare, and The Sonic Dawn really cashes in on the nostalgia from the mid 1960s on this one. Sometimes I'm reminded of The Doors, other times Jimi Hendrix, etc. All this record needs is scratchy vinyl sound effects to fit squarely within the era it honors. Excellent stuff!

KrautRock 1975 Germany Tracklist: 01. Dawn Defender The mystery band of the Pyramid label, the eponymous 1 track album would seem to be what Toby Robinson told me was their attempt at a Cosmic Jokers type album. "Dawn Defender" is quite obviously mixed from many different sessions, and runs a wide range of styles, from trippy Ash Ra Tempel with echo guitars and scintillating synthesizers through to headfirst plunges into Hawkwind overdrive territory. The feel is much like what Porcupine Tree and Electric Orange have attempted more recently, that is except for the authentic Mellotron textures and old analogue delay techniques. In all, an excellent album of spacey Krautrock.

It is as if the Krautrock of Germany and the Psychedelic/Acid rock of San Francisco had ‘Melodic Intercourse’ and created an all new sub genre within progressive and psychedelic music. This new music would have all the elements of both scenes as well as a more free form improvisational sound that is not as pre conceived nor written ahead of time. The mystery band of the Pyramid label, the eponymous 1 track album would seem to be what Toby Robinson told me was their attempt at a Cosmic Jokers type album.
"Dawn Defender" is quite obviously mixed from many different sessions, and runs a wide range of styles, from trippy Ash Ra Tempel with echo guitars and scintillating synthesizers through to headfirst plunges into Hawkwind overdrive territory. The feel is much like what Porcupine Tree and Electric Orange have attempted more recently, that is except for the authentic Mellotron textures and old analogue delay techniques. In all, an excellent album of spacey Krautrock.

WolveSpirit are one of the bands that transport you to another time and place as soon as you listen to them. In this case, that time and place is the heyday of psychedelic rock; the swinging 60s and 70s. This German based band clearly worship at the altar of tie-dye and all things psychedelic (just look at their album art) and this love infuses every single note of everything they do. By managing to juxtapose peace with glory, these guys turn Black Sabbath-induced heavy metal riffs into a mandala of post-classic tunage. WolveSpirit’s Free is retro enough to be ahead of the times and grooves big slabs of psychedelica, laying down the feeling of rock activism. Free is innocent and loving it.
From the absolutely excellent Hammond organ slathered opener I Am Free to the stunning blues guitar of Shining (featuring US heavyweight Mark Slaughter) through the fast paced and upbeat Let Me Live and the bluesy swagger of Into The Mirror. Debbie Craft sounds for all the world like she has just stepped out from the 70s after spending time with Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks and it’s not often anymore you hear Hammond organs being used with such aplomb. Angleman continues the 70s love affair with a very Iommi/Sabbath-esque riff and slow plod but steps into territory of its own with its soaring chorus. Moonlight should, if there is any justice in the world, get anyone up on their feet and dancing and My Best Friend is stirring simple acoustic ballad par excellence.
Wild Woman kicks the pace back up again with yet more sublime use of the Hammond organ and summery bouncy guitar riffing, this is the sort of music that should have been on the Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas soundtrack. It also contains one of the best Hammond organ solos I’ve ever heard. Time Lord has a bit more of a modern swagger and punch but still contains healthy lashings of organ beneath the chugging guitar work. It’s beyond difficult to pick out specific tracks as the album has absolutely no filler in any of its 13 tracks; from start to finish Free is an absolute stunner of an album, with every track previously mentioned and the closing of trifecta of the bluesy emotive power ballad Spirit In My Soul, distorted slow burner Sometimes and jangly upbeat closer Mercy.
WolveSpirit are a band out of time, but a band that haven’t lost touch with modern music or gotten lost in some nostalgic netherworld. Free is an absolute gem of an album; excellently written and performed, oozing the blues and good old fashioned rock and roll. WolveSpirit know exactly what they are; luckily for us, what they are is excellent.

From Copenhagen, Denmark, The Sonic Dawn play a late 60s/early 70's influenced brand of Psychedelic Blues. Sweet soul and classic Psychedelic methods pervade Perception, The Sonic Dawn’s debut album, and the Copenhagen trio of guitarist/vocalist Emil Bureau, bassist Neil Bird and drummer Jonas Waaben find an easy, spacious flow through songs that, despite being relatively straightforward, retain an expansive feel. Shades of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors make themselves felt early on, but Bureau’s voice shifts smoothly into and out of falsetto and the tonally The Sonic Dawn seem immediately in search of their own identity.
The album kicks off with An Easy Heart To Break, a classic 70's influenced Blues Rock number that brings to mind a cool grooving and tastefully melodic Cream, but also has a trippy drifting Psychedelic instrumental break. Lonely Parade features spirited and still Bluesy Psychedelic swing with soulful vocals and an awesomely trippy finale. All The Ghosts I Know cranks out Psychedelically soulful Funk-Blues with a spiritually uplifting kick and periods of tranquilly spacey drift. And Black Cat Women drinks from the waters of the Mississippi Delta.
The Mustang is a high energy slab of 60s Freakbeat and Soul with a detour into Indian inspired sitar drenched Psych. Lots happening in a mere four minutes! Wild At Heart is a thematic roller coaster ride that juxta-flitters between 60s B-Western flick soundtrack, swinging boogie-woogie Psych-Blues Rock and heavy jamming spaced out Psychedelic-Soul. Watching Dust Fall has a flowing atmospheric vibe that accompanies this spacey Psych-Blues rocker, and if this were released in the late 60s would have been my hands down pick for a single. It’s totally trippy and has a catchy flowing melody which in that era would have meant Pop potential. And Fading Soul retains the band’s Blues-Rock core but uses that as the foundation for an emotive singer-songwriter crooner with a Prog-like compositional flair.
Buy this album. Neo-psychedelic music of this quality is rare, and The Sonic Dawn really cashes in on the nostalgia from the mid 1960s on this one. Sometimes I'm reminded of The Doors, other times Jimi Hendrix, etc. All this record needs is scratchy vinyl sound effects to fit squarely within the era it honors. Excellent stuff!

INFO: Elizabeth was an American psychedelic rock/progressive rock band that were active from 1967 to 1970. They were based out of Philadelphia and known for their unique musical and sonic blend of Baroque Music,Classical Music, Folk Music, American Rock, British Rock, Country Music, and Ragtime.
In 1968, the band recorded and released their self-titled album on Vanguard Records (produced by Sam Charters). Vanguard's artist roster at the time included Joan Baez, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Country Joe and the Fish. Elizabeth performed with Cream, Blue Cheer, Joni Mitchell, Ritchie Havens, The Chambers Brothers and many other musical luminaries of that era. Some of the bands' many Philadelphia area performances included concerts and sets at: The Main Point, The Second Fret, The Electric Factory, and most Be-INs at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.
As the band was starting to come together (nameless at that point), Steve and Robert "Stewkey" Antoni, band mates from Newport, RI, made an unexpected stop in Philadelphia on their way to Florida. After a week in the City of brotherly love, they decided to forgo Florida and help form Elizabeth. Some interesting guitarists auditioned for the band, including future rock star Todd Rundgren who was with Woody's Truck Stop at the time; and, Nick Jameson, soon to be a founder and guitarist of The American Dream (both were Philly bands).
Within a month or so of landing in Philadelphia, Stewkey left Elizabeth to join Todd's new band, The Nazz. Of note, Linda Cohen, a Philadelphia classical guitarist, was Elizabeth's first drummer (briefly). During the spring and summer of 1969, she teamed up with Michael Kac from Mandrake Memorial and, together, performed as a classical-pop fusion guitar-harpsichord duo. Linda died in 2009 of lung cancer. Mandrake Memorial and Elizabeth shared the stage many times. [info from Retro Revolution]

Featuring the staples of Black Sabbath era hard rock – psychedelicia, stoner, blues – just to name a few, the band injects their sound with such loving homage and genuine appreciation that never comes off as cheap. They mean business, and everything from the slick guitar works to the husky-voiced vocals fits like a glove. Superb vocals with hardly a hint of accent sang over a backdrop of gnarly stonerized blues grooves. Electric Lady is one hell of a tribute to 70s psych rock. Every riff and vocal note feels deliberately placed to create a sense of nostalgia.

The flow of psychedelic that happened in the latter half of the 1960's visits Japan at once and has extended. At that time, the power to involve demonstrated the power of the counterplan enough as cultures such as music and the arts and plays. An original custom of Japan and the thought of the Orient exactly appeared enough to the music of psychedelic in Japan. Or, the deriving music exhausted the musician in various Japan as one flow. A lot of bands in Japan influenced by the music of the United States and Britain for the situation of Japanese music at that time existed and the band in known Japan existed as a result of digesting those elements also in the world now. Members of the band in various Japan created original music in the one flow while studying hard mutually valuing the flow. And, it was one band to which this "Far Out" had started also establishing an original route in the flow of such music.
It was at 1971 that they were formed. It is said that they were performing music that exactly receives the influence of Hard Rock at that time and makes Rock a center. The band in a lot of Japan made original music of Japan absorb the music such as psychedelic, Blues, and Rock and created without limiting the activity such as bands of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and psychedelic of the other to the band in Japan and influencing and limiting it to them.
In the back, this band to which Fumio Miya[&*!#]a is mainly formed will change the form into "Far East Family Band". It is known as a band of the antecedent to the arrival there. However, the listener who knew this band became in the minority also in Japan now. However, it is likely to be able to count as one of the bands that support the dawn of the music of Japan very important band.
Involved power and flow of "Too Many People" create one space. The culture and the thought of the Orient in Japan might be reflected well though it looks like the sound of initial Pink Floyd and King Crimson. The progress of the sound of the float in the space exactly feels the sound of psychedelic and a few Blues. The guitar of Eiichi Sayu will exactly invite the listener to the world of psychedelic.
"Nihonjin" can be translated into "Japanese". The entire flow of the album is united. The culture and the thought of the Orient are reflected in music as for this tune. It advances with quiet power and progress.
In Japan at that time, such a lot of bands existed. If the situation of music the meaning of the existence of this band and at that time is considered, it is likely to be able to enjoy it as one of the bands to which Japan is psychedelically related though this band certainly becomes a mother's body and it connected with Far East Family Band.

The flow of psychedelic that happened in the latter half of the 1960's visits Japan at once and has extended. At that time, the power to involve demonstrated the power of the counterplan enough as cultures such as music and the arts and plays. An original custom of Japan and the thought of the Orient exactly appeared enough to the music of psychedelic in Japan. Or, the deriving music exhausted the musician in various Japan as one flow. A lot of bands in Japan influenced by the music of the United States and Britain for the situation of Japanese music at that time existed and the band in known Japan existed as a result of digesting those elements also in the world now. Members of the band in various Japan created original music in the one flow while studying hard mutually valuing the flow. And, it was one band to which this "Far Out" had started also establishing an original route in the flow of such music.
It was at 1971 that they were formed. It is said that they were performing music that exactly receives the influence of Hard Rock at that time and makes Rock a center. However, the music character has been improved while gradually taking the element of psychedelic. The band in a lot of Japan made original music of Japan absorb the music such as psychedelic, Blues, and Rock and created without limiting the activity such as bands of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and psychedelic of the other to the band in Japan and influencing and limiting it to them.
In the back, this band to which Fumio Miya[&*!#]a is mainly formed will change the form into "Far East Family Band". It is known as a band of the antecedent to the arrival there. However, the listener who knew this band became in the minority also in Japan now. However, it is likely to be able to count as one of the bands that support the dawn of the music of Japan very important band.
Involved power and flow of "Too Many People" create one space. The culture and the thought of the Orient in Japan might be reflected well though it looks like the sound of initial Pink Floyd and King Crimson. The progress of the sound of the float in the space exactly feels the sound of psychedelic and a few Blues. The guitar of Eiichi Sayu will exactly invite the listener to the world of psychedelic.
"Nihonjin" can be translated into "Japanese". The entire flow of the album is united. The culture and the thought of the Orient are reflected in music as for this tune. It advances with quiet power and progress.
In Japan at that time, such a lot of bands existed. If the situation of music the meaning of the existence of this band and at that time is considered, it is likely to be able to enjoy it as one of the bands to which Japan is psychedelically related though this band certainly becomes a mother's body and it connected with Far East Family Band.

It is as if the Krautrock of Germany and the Psychedelic/Acid rock of San Francisco had ‘Melodic Intercourse’ and created an all new sub genre within progressive and psychedelic music. This new music would have all the elements of both scenes as well as a more free form improvisational sound that is not as pre conceived nor written ahead of time. One of the many multiple offspring that both scenes of music produced was current German progressive/psychedelic rockers The Spacelords. The Spacelords Liquid Sun embodies a little bit of every element of the two music scenes mentioned above along with their own improvised and free form approach to the music itself. Although only 3 songs and a total album length of 43 minutes long, The Spacelords Liquid Sun gives the listener a sonic sense of a full one hour of listening bliss. Within the 43 minutes we find long improvised yet tight rhythmic sections with layer upon layers of intergalactic soundscapes and atmospheres. Now a brief yet detailed look at The Spacelords Liquid Sun.
Liquid Sun begins with a gentle and subtle percussive element with the cymbals from the drums. That element is quickly met by the tight rhythm section between the deep bass and rhythm guitar. This is a more progressive track meaning it starts out very subtle and climbs in various up and down tempo progressions and passages. At some points it sounds like a cross between Earthless meets Buckethead meets Oresund Space Collective. About the 3:00 mark it takes a heavily space rock approach within the track. At about the 6:00 mark the track takes a very 1970’s stoner rock turn. At the 7:00 mark it takes a highly and perfectly surround sound approach as if to give the listener an appearance of some alien contact. The final 4:00 of the track is very traditional psychedelic/stoner that contains heavy progressive time signatures towards a climax.
Spaceship Breakdown starts off almost in the vein of very early ZZ Top Tres Hombres’ passage of progression. It may give the listener an appearance of 4/4 however there is much more like a 5/4 and 7/8 time signature going on here. There also seems to be some various spaceship micro processing effects happening in the back drop. This track always breaks back to the same progression before taking a sonic ascension towards a climatic riff and passage. Spaceship Breakdown also has some very tight rhythm based guitar solo’s. This is a type of track if you had a intergalactic convertible going through the concourse of space and time you may hear this. Many of the space effects are wonderfully performed on a mellotron synth organ.
Black Hole starts out with a lot of guitar fret work making more effects as it goes and balancing them well with melody. It has a very eerie yet liquid and subtle vibe about it. This is met by a perfectly complimented deep bass and drum rhythm section. At about the 4:00 mark the band really settles in for a lengthy jam session. The passages and progressions off the riffs continue to climb with great continuity. For a 21:10 improvised track the band really picks up one another’s changes really spot on. There continues to be surround sound style soundscapes and effects. The track evens takes some serious down tuned stoner style elements as well. At some points this takes a very stoner metal turn. If you like long progressive free form improvised jam songs than Black Hole is perfect for your audio pallet.
The Spacelords Liquid Sun was a true adventure. It is definitely one of those albums the band can certainly build their legacy upon. They can convey the true nature of the goal they set without totally overwhelming the listener. Liquid Sun will be a album that will celebrated a few generations from now much like the Krautrock of Germany and Psychedelic rock of San Francisco is now.
