Cancún International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún) (IATA: CUN, ICAO: MMUN) is located in Cancún, Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. It is Mexico's second busiest airport, after Mexico City International Airport, but the biggest for international passengers. In 2015, Cancún airport handled 19,596,485 passengers, a 12.3% increase compared to 2014.
The airport has three commercial terminals. Terminal 1 is used by some low-cost and charter domestic airlines; Terminal 2 is used by all of the scheduled domestic airlines and some international flights; and the new Terminal 3 handles primarily international operations of airlines from the United States and Europe. It has two parallel operative runways that can be used simultaneously.
The airport is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR). It is a hub for VivaAerobus and Volaris, and currently offers flights to 21 destinations in Mexico and to over 30 countries in North, Central, South America and Europe.
The Boeing 737 Next Generation, commonly abbreviated as 737NG, is the name given to the −600/-700/-800/-900 series of the Boeing 737 airliner. It is the third generation derivative of the 737, and follows the 737 Classic (−300/-400/-500) series, which began production in the 1980s. They are short- to medium-range, narrow-body jet airliners. Produced since 1996 by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, the 737NG series includes four variants and can seat between 110 to 210 passengers.
A total of 5,419 737NG aircraft have been delivered by the end of May 2015, with more than 6,800 ordered. The -700, -800, and -900ER have unfilled orders and are being produced, but orders for -600 and -900 have been filled. The 737NG's primary competition is with the Airbus A320 family. Upgraded and re-engined models in development as the 737 MAX series will eventually supplant the 737NG.
Prompted by the development of the Airbus A320, which incorporated ground-breaking technologies such as fly-by-wire, in 1991 Boeing initiated development of an updated series of aircraft. After working with potential customers, the 737 Next Generation (NG) program was announced on November 17, 1993. The 737NG encompasses the −600, −700, −800 and −900 variants, and is to date the most significant upgrade of the airframe. The performance of the 737NG is essentially that of a new airplane, but important commonality is retained from previous 737 generations. The wing was modified, increasing its area by 25% and span by 16 ft (4.88 m), which increased the total fuel capacity by 30%. New quieter and more fuel-efficient CFM56-7B engines were used. These improvements combine to increase the 737's range by 900 nmi, permitting transcontinental service. A flight test program was operated by 10 aircraft: 3 -600s, 4 -700s, and 3 -800s.
The Airbus A320 family consists of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus. The family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, as well as the ACJ business jet. The A320s are also named A320ceo (current engine option) after the introduction of the A320neo. Final assembly of the family takes place in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany; a plant in Tianjin, China, has also been producing aircraft for Chinese airlines since 2009. Construction of a new production facility in Mobile, Alabama began in 2013. The aircraft family can accommodate up to 220 passengers and has a range of 3,100 to 12,000 km (1,700 to 6,500 nmi), depending on model.
The first member of the A320 family—the A320—was launched in March 1984, first flew on 22 February 1987, and was first delivered in March 1988. The family was soon extended to include the A321 (first delivered 1994), the A319 (1996), and the A318 (2003). The A320 family pioneered the use of digital fly-by-wire flight control systems, as well as side-stick controls, in commercial aircraft. There has been a continuous improvement process since introduction.

Cancún (/kɑːnˈkuːn/ or /kæn-/;Spanish pronunciation: [kaŋˈkun]) is a city in southeastern Mexico, located on the northeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It is an important renowned tourist destination in Mexico, as well as being the seat of the municipality of Benito Juárez. The city is located on the Caribbean Sea, and is one of the easternmost points in Mexico. Cancún is located just north of Mexico's Caribbean coast resort band known as the Riviera Maya. In older English-language documents, the city’s name is sometimes spelled "Cancoon," an attempt to convey the sound of the name.
There are two possible translations of Cancún, based on the Mayan pronunciation kaan kun. The first translation is "nest of snakes." The second version and less accepted is "place of the gold snake."
The shield of the municipality of Benito Juárez, who represents the city of Cancun, was designed by the Mexican American artist Joe Vera. It is divided into three parts: The color blue symbolizes the Caribbean Sea, the yellow the sand, and the red the sun with its rays.
When arriving at the Cancun Airport, Mexico, beware of the unreliable and untrustworthy people lining the hallway. They sell timeshares, excursions, etc and they waste your time. Don't talk to them! Keep walking to your taxi or airport transfer company.

After your bags go through the scanner, everyone pushes the 'button' ..if it's goes green you pass go - if it goes red you get your bag torn apart on the bench in front of everyone. But really, is there anyone stupid enough to smuggle something into Mexico ? Past the army carrying machine guns - the dope/ explosive sniffing dogs and a jail system that is second to none. So leave your guns and drugs at home, bring your suntan lotion and your money and please ..for all of us standing in line - fill out ALL your declaration card on the PLANE. location @ gogglemap of Quintana Roo @ www.yolotraveller.com

Time is precious! Remember this when checking in to Cancun's International Airport. Your dream vacation to the Caribbean is all planned out and you are heading down to the airport to start enjoying the best time of your life. It's important to sort out your time beforehand so you don't get caught up in the rush of the moment and miss your flight! Remember, time is precious when traveling, so you need to figure it all out before arriving at the airport. Here are a few tips for checking in to Cancun's International Airport.
Getting through CUN can be sort of rough at times. Once you grab your bags and go through security you are greeted by individuals that want to present you with an opportunity to purchase a timeshare. If this is something that you're into cool, if you're like me and want to get your vacation started do what I did. If you have booked a vacation package with me, once you arrive you will be looking for the individuals in the blue shirts. They will be holding a sign with the name of the tour company that I booked you with. www.VacayOnLayaway.com
All inclusive packages include transfers from the airport to your hotel resort but an option to consider is a private transfer. Great for couples, families and groups, the private transfer goes at your schedule, just another option to customize your vacation experience.
