A TV reporter came within inches of being run over live on air after he was forced to leap out of the way of a runaway car.
Alex Savidge was doing a roadside report in Fremont for
San Francisco's KTVU News when a squeal of brakes is heard in the distance.
Terrifying footage of the incident shows the reporter's shock as he heard a crash while a black car and white sedan collide in the background. His photographer
Chip Vaughan, who could see the approaching vehicles, screamed at Savidge to 'get out the way', who leaped to the side.
Moments later a white
Sedan plows through where Savidge had been standing, crashing into one of the station's light stands.
A visibly shaken Savidge later returned to air where he thanked for saving his life.
'I just wanted to thank Chip, thanks buddy,' he said giving the photographer a hug.
'
It's scary, it was scary. I am grateful to be ok, that's all I can say,' he said.
He also assured his wife he was not hurt after he says he was not able to reach her.
Savidge has been doing a piece to camera about a train derailment in
Alameda County when the incident occurred.
He later tweeted: 'My heart's racing like crazy!
Almost got hit by a car live on air, but I'm OK-Thanks everyone for your concern.'
