Mount Rainier is a ticking time bomb that could dwarf the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, sending massive lahars and mudslides toward the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The most recent recorded volcanic eruption was between 1820 and 1854, but many eyewitnesses reported eruptive activity in 1858, 1870, 1879, 1882 and 1894 as well. Although Mount Rainier is an active volcano, as of 2010 there was no evidence of an imminent eruption. However, an eruption could be devastating for all areas surrounding the volcano. Mount Rainier is currently listed as a Decade Volcano, or one of the 16 volcanoes with the greatest likelihood of causing great loss of life and property if eruptive activity resumes. If Mt. Rainier were to erupt as powerfully as Mount St. Helens did in its May 18, 1980, eru...

Our recent visit to Mount Rainier National Park was not what we expected. We look at Mount Rainier every day from afar and planned the perfect weekend to go hiking. Did you know that Mount Rainier is also an active volcano? Nevertheless, we made the best out of the unfortunate situation we found ourselves in and realized that all is well that ends with pie and ice cream. Mount Rainier is part of the Cascade Range and is located on a Subduction Zone, and experiences about 20 small earthquakes each year. However in the last month there has been a significant uptick including an Earthquake Swarm directly under Mount Rainier. Rainier is the 2nd most active and highest volcano of the Northern Cascade Range, following Mount Saint Helens. The concern with Mount Rainier though, is that it rises above 3.3 million people and is very hazardous and potential for eruptions. Mount Rainier is a Stratovolcano and began erupting one half to one million years ago. Its most recent activity was in the 1890s. Each eruption alternates from quiet lava eruptions to large debris forming eruptions. Lava and loose rubble built up to form layers and a tall cone, whose upper section w...
In 2016 on 4th of July weekend me and 2 friends attempted climbing Mt Rainier. Mount Rainier is a 14,416' peak in Washington State. Due to one of our group members getting elevation sickness we only made it just under 14,000'. This is a short video of our climb.

In September of 2014, Penn Rail Videos made an epic journey to the pacific northwest corner of the United States. During our visit, we managed to capture a lot of footage of various railroads in the region. This video takes us to the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad in Elbe, Washington. In this video, we see ALCO-built 2-8-2T #17 hauling the excursions to Mineral, WA. We'll follow the train as well as take a ride on this former logging route. The line features a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier on one of its many bridges. Join us for a unique experience on this popular tourist attraction in the Pacific Northwest.
Documentary from 1992 released by Readers Digest. From VHS Box: "Begin your sojourn in Mount Rainier National Park by tracing the fire-and-ice evolution that gave the mountain its spectacular character. Learn about jökulhlaups, the great flash floods created when Rainer's twin forces, volcanic heat and glacial colds collide. At Olympic National Park visit the resplendent Hoh Rain Forest. Continue to the park's glacier-sculpted mountains and to Marymere Falls, Soleduck Falls and Mount Olympus itself."

The Song Begins lyrics
I think I'm dreaming now
Don't break the silence turning around
There's no time to recognize what I am
I need a help to win the fear that holds my body
Please can you wake up me?
Mankind have no remorse
But some day we'll pay the cost
I feel it for sure
Like a hanging hammer above
No matter when no matter how
It strikes down the blow
Inside of my heart I hear your voice
Never crying
Inside of my heart
I'm looking for the salvation
So let the song begin!
Whenever we cry
whatever we tried
we look for tomorrow
Living ain't no crime!
Whenever we fall
And loose the control
We can get back now if we want
Face the man so close to you
In those eyes no more
Reflections of pain
What the hell we made up before?
To get the chance, to find the key,
To let people see
Inside of my heart
I hear your voice
Never crying
Inside of my heart
I'm looking for the salvation
So let the song begin!
Whenever we cry
whatever we tried
we look for tomorrow
Living ain't no crime!
Whenever we fall
And loose the control
We can get back now if we want
Hey you, don't think there
Is no more to say
We pray The Father if we don't find the way
And when you're looking for the answers
you want to know the Meaning
let the song begin!
Whenever we cry
whatever we tried
we look for tomorrow
Living ain't no crime!
Whenever we fall
And loose the control
We can get back now if we want
Whenever we cry
whatever we tried
we look for tomorrow
Living ain't no crime!
Whenever we fall
And loose the control
