Seattle Washington's Lake Union Park and Historic Boat Warf are located at the south end of Lake Union. Each antique vessel has a unique claim to fame.
The fireboat is the second most powerful fireboat in the country. There is a wooden tug and an old steam powered passenger boat as well. Some of the boats are used by local Sea Scouts but you can board many of the vessels often times on weekends and during special events.

Lake Union
Lake Union is a freshwater lake entirely within the Seattle, Washington city limits and a major portion of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. Its easternmost point is the Ship Canal Bridge, which carries Interstate 5 over the eastern arm of the lake and separates Lake Union from Portage Bay. Lake Union is the namesake of the neighborhoods located on its east and west shores: Eastlake and Westlake, respectively. The northern shore of the lake is home to Gas Works Park. Notable features of the southern portion of the lake—collectively known as the South Lake Union district—include Lake Union Park, Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI), and the Center for Wooden Boats.
The George Washington Memorial "Aurora" Bridge carries State Route 99 over the western arm of Lake Union. The Aurora Bridge is so named because it carries Aurora Ave N down the western side of the lake. Lake Union's westernmost point can be considered the Fremont Cut, which is located just east of the Aurora Bridge and is spanned by the Fremont Bridge. The Fremont Bridge carries Fremont Ave N between the neighborhoods of Fremont and Queen Anne and separates Lake Union from the rest of the Lake Washington Ship Canal to the west.

Lake Union Park
Lake Union Park is a 12-acre (4.9 ha) park located at the south end of Lake Union in Seattle, Washington in the South Lake Union neighborhood. The park is owned by the City of Seattle and operated by Seattle Parks and Recreation. The park property was gradually acquired by the City, and the final 5 acres (2.0 ha) were transferred from the United States Navy to the City of Seattle on July 1, 2000. After renovation, the current park space officially opened on September 25, 2010.
History
While the property was acquired by the City for the purpose of providing public park space, it was underutilized for a prolonged period due to a lack of attractive park features. Seattle Parks Foundation attempted to address that issue by conducting a campaign to raise the funds needed to substantially improve the park's facilities. The capital campaign goal was $20 million. In addition, the Seattle City Council appropriated $4.228 million in funds to repair the property's bulkhead and $5 million went to the project from the voter-approved 2000 Pro Parks Levy.

KAYAKING IN SEATTLE ON LAKE UNION AT THE AQUA VERDE CAFE & PADDLE CLUB

We went down to the Aqua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club on the Friday before the 4th of July on a supremely beautiful Seattle day. We got there right as they opened and only had one group in front of us. By the time we got back, two hours later, the line was around the building!!! It was crazy!! Anyway, we took the kayaks out into Lake Union, past Gas Works Park, under the Aurora bridge and the Freemont bridge. We saw the Space Needle, planes landing on the water and the Seattle duck tours. Lake Union is a freshwater lake entirely within the Seattle, Washington city limits and a major portion of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. Twenty four thousand tree stumps were used for the foundation of Isaaks Cathedral that can accommodate a congregation of fourteen thousand. In Port Baikal is the modern Circum-Baikal train that takes a full day to travel around Lake Baikal and is one of the most difficult sections of the Trans-Siberian Railroad that travels from Moscow to as far as Vladivostok. On our last day in Seattle, Mommy and the kids went to the mall to get all the girls' ears pierced. The Dads went kayaking! That's the way it's supposed to work, right?
We went down to the Aqua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club on the Friday before the 4th of July on a supremely beautiful Seattle day. We got there right as they opened and only had one group in front of us. By the time we got back, two hours later, the line was around the building!!! It was crazy!!
Anyway, we took the kayaks out into Lake Union, past Gas Works Park, under the Aurora bridge and the Freemont bridge. We saw the Space Needle, planes landing on the water and the Seattle duck tours. We also saw a LOT of boat houses that were all so unique!
It was a lot of fun, a little anxious when big boats would pass by (I really didn't feel like going in the water) and a good workout, too. It was really cool to see the city of Seattle from that perspective.

Set on Portage Bay, the Paddle Club is located right in the middle of the two most popular paddling destinations in Seattle: Lake Union and Lake Washington. For an urban paddling experience, head west towards Lake Union, where you'll find a stunning view of the Seattle skyline and the world famous Space Needle. You'll float past eclectic houseboats, crew houses, and city marinas. Head towards Gas Works Park, past Fremont and up to the Ballard locks, or circum-navigate Lake Union for a closer view of downtown Seattle. Alternatively, you can head east, towards Lake Washington. Paddle into the lake itself and be stunned by the size and beauty of the water. Or for a shorter trip, paddle through the natural beauty of the Arboretum. There, you'll wander the water trails around Foster Island, paddle through lily pads and under footbridges. You may catch a glimpse of resident and migratory birds such as bald eagles, great blue herons, coots, wood ducks and grebes. Keep an eye out for beavers and muskrats!
A few things to keep in mind: You must be 18 years or older to rent. However, minors can be in a boat with a parent or guardian. No one under 18 can ever be in a boat by themselves. Kayaks must be launched from our docks and we do not offer overnight rentals. Also, please leave the pets at home for your safety and theirs. We sometimes close the Paddle Club early if weather is bad or unsafe. Please call if you are wondering whether we are still renting.

Agua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club takes its name from a beautiful bay in the Sea of Cortez, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Casual waterfront dining at reasonable prices, our food is prepared fresh, from scratch, daily. We incorporate organic, local and sustainable foods into our menu, creating daily lunch and dinner specials. Learn more about our efforts by going to the Natural Foods page. Remember, we also rent kayaks for a memorable Seattle experience.

In 1868, Bavarian King Ludwig The Second had a dream come true in Allgäu, southern Germany: Castle Neuschwanstein, the realisation of his amazing world of fantasy situated close to Castle Hoch-Schwangau where as a child the king had immersed himself in German mythology. The fairytale castle was seventeen years in construction and in every way the idyll of ancient German knighthood, a union of both castle and its surroundings. The dining room is full of paintings that depict scenes from Wartburg at the time of the legendary Singer War. The centre of the room is dominated by a massive table top made of gilded bronze, Siegfried and his fight with the dragon, good against evil. The Throne Hall is a most magnificent and impressive room, two storeys high with lateral rows of columns and a gilded apse which is reminiscent of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The monumental Singer Hall is the castle’s largest and most important room. It was built for the operas of Richard Wagner. The tall, wooden coffered ceiling features numerous images as well as the signs of the zodiac. The ballroom of the Wartburg is full of motifs of Parzival, Lohengrin and King Arthur and his Round Table. The castle absorbed vast amounts of money and created massive royal debts that finally resulted in tragedy. During the night of June 12th, 1886, Ludwig The Second was arrested, declared deposed and taken to Castleberg. Barely forty eight hours later he died at the age of forty under mysterious circumstances in Lake Starnberg. A royal legacy, Castle Neuschwanstein is now one of the world’s most famous buildings.

In 1868, Bavarian King Ludwig The Second had a dream come true in Allgäu, southern Germany: Castle Neuschwanstein, the realisation of his amazing world of fantasy situated close to Castle Hoch-Schwangau where as a child the king had immersed himself in German mythology. The fairytale castle was seventeen years in construction and in every way the idyll of ancient German knighthood, a union of both castle and its surroundings. The dining room is full of paintings that depict scenes from Wartburg at the time of the legendary Singer War. The centre of the room is dominated by a massive table top made of gilded bronze, Siegfried and his fight with the dragon, good against evil. The Throne Hall is a most magnificent and impressive room, two storeys high with lateral rows of columns and a gilded apse which is reminiscent of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The monumental Singer Hall is the castle’s largest and most important room. It was built for the operas of Richard Wagner. The tall, wooden coffered ceiling features numerous images as well as the signs of the zodiac. The ballroom of the Wartburg is full of motifs of Parzival, Lohengrin and King Arthur and his Round Table. The castle absorbed vast amounts of money and created massive royal debts that finally resulted in tragedy. During the night of June 12th, 1886, Ludwig The Second was arrested, declared deposed and taken to Castleberg. Barely forty eight hours later he died at the age of forty under mysterious circumstances in Lake Starnberg. A royal legacy, Castle Neuschwanstein is now one of the world’s most famous buildings.

Lake Union Cafe Wedding | Ellen and Eric
Ellen and Eric started their wedding day at Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in Seattle. It is a relatively new church just a couple of blocks from Pike Place Market. Then we went to the Olympic Sculpture Park and Myrtle Edwards Park on the Seattle waterfront. It was a day of beautiful, subtle light with a layer of clouds. Finally, we went to the Lake Union Cafe for the reception. A beautiful and delicious place to end the night!
